My Week In Video

So a couple weeks ago, I spent the week with One Republic and made some videos and took some pictures. This is one thing that came from that week. Kinda cool to see.

I don’t feel very good right now, so you can sense my lack of enthusiasm. Broken rib and pain medication is not as awesome as it sounds.

One Republic

So, a couple weeks ago I got a call asking if I’d be interested in going on the road with a band called One Republic.  Um, yes.  I think I can make that work out.  So, starting this coming week I will be out with these guys making videos and assisting in some social network-y things.  It’s a complete honor to be asked to do these things.

And if you haven’t heard of these guys you need to.

Sleep Variations

I’m a graphs nerd I’ve come to find out.  I like to see things rather than read them.  I want to see visually how something is changing or not changing rather than just hearing about it.  So, I got this thing called a FitBit a while back that does just that.  It sort of stalks me.  I wear it all the time and it basically tracks all my activity and even sleep.  How awesome is that?

So obviously being on the road there are some pretty drastic changes between road sleep and home sleep, but I’ve never actually been able to track it… until FitBit.  Check this out.  The first chart is bus sleep from the other night.  I don’t think I need to explain what’s happening on there.  It’s pink and blue… with some numbers… check it out.

And here’s home sleep last night.  All of the sudden it makes a lot of sense why there are times when we are all wandering around a venue looking like a deer in headlights.  I “woke up” 53 times on the bus and only 12 at home?  Now, I’m not sure what this thing classifies as “waking up” but talk about a drastic difference eh?

How’s your sleep?

A Few Of My Favorites

So, obviously I’ve been a little slammed for the past few weeks gearing up for The Roadshow, then heading out on it, so I’ve been a little absent from this place.  Well, that’s not really changing now, but I did want to share with you a couple of my favorite photos from the first week of the tour.  I’ll try to be more diligent about posting on here, but if you’re wanting to see my daily posting, check out The Roadshow Blog since that’s where I’ll be spending most of my time for the next few weeks.

Here’s some of my favorites:

Flo Rida

Atlanta, Orlando, St. Petersburg and back.  We’re road trippin’ it to Florida this week.  Lots to do before we leave, but we’re excited about this trip.  It’s the longest road trip we’ve taken since driving from Sacramento to Nashville five years ago.  Now, to spend the day figuring out how to fit everything in the car.

Anyone have any Summer trips planned?  Where are you headed?  Anything we need to stop and do along the way for this trip?

San Antonio

Well, it’s been a while. It’s not that I haven’t had things to say, or really even time to say them. It’s more of a mental thing. I’ve had a tricky time wrapping my head around anything of any value for the past few weeks. Again, maybe it’s just being too tired or being away from home. Or maybe it’s just me taking a few weeks to whine like a baby on this thing because I can’t think of anything else to say. Normally I try to be a pretty positive person, but I’d be off base if I didn’t say that this tour has been a struggle for me. It’s been weird for sure.  Not because of the tour, but more because of my own brain I think.

But today I’m working on making things a little different. I don’t know how, but it started with Mike and I taking a little scooter ride to a mall just to get out. I picked up some “ninja sock Vans” and Mike got an iPod player. Then we stopped by a ghetto pawn shop on the way back. It looks like a pretty rough part of town, but at least we had manly looking scooters.

I’m headed home tomorrow for a day or two, but during those days I’ll be at the Dove Awards, involved in something that I haven’t really heard about yet, and trying to spend as much time with Kristin and the boys as I can.  Then we’ve got one more run after this, then it’s home sweet home for an uncertain amount of time.

Well, that’s it’s for now.  I’m sure there’s something important that needs to be done, so I’m going to track that down.

The LBC

So, I lived here until I was 3 or so.  It was before Snoop made it awesome to be a thug here.  And before there were purple shoes ‘representing’.

Today we’re at the Long Beach Arena gearing up for the 2nd half of the tour.  So far I’ve seen a parking lot, a shower and I think I saw this building down the street.  I’m hoping to get out and hide some tickets for tonight’s show at the beach, but I need to figure out how close we are.

This should be an interesting week for sure.  Southern California, Phoenix, and Vegas.  Then a day off in Vegas.  Should be fun.

So here’s the question of the day.  What city were you born in?  Ready?  Go.  I’ve got some purple shoes to go find.

Portland

Today we’re in the my favorite city on Earth. Okay, so maybe not Earth, but it’s at least top 2 or so.

Now here’s the problem with being in your favorite city on a tour though. I most likely will spend my day underground at the Rose Garden (Rose Quarter… whatever you call it), unless I can talk someone into taking me on a run to the bank and maybe a cup of coffee.

Anyway… Kristin and the boys are still pretty sick at home. 3 cases of strep throat and Kristin with a sinus infection. I hate that I’m not home to be able to help out with that, but hopefully all the medications kick in quickly and knock this stuff out. If you’re a praying person, if you could keep them in your prayers, that would be awesome.

I’m off to change my socks and see about that bank runner. Have a great Saturday.

Colorado Springs Today

crowder_1

I love Colorado Springs.  It’s seriously one of my favorite places to come.  The picture above has nothing to do with Colorado Springs, but we are here today and I thought this was a cool picture.  And speaking of this picture, it’s fun to be out with the Crowder boys again.  This is my third tour with them, and I’m still not sick of watching their show.  The energy, the emotion, and the skill.  Blows my mind every time.

Hey, it’s time for “Tour Church” so I’m gonna run.  Sorry these posts are so spastic, but it’s a little crazy.

Sleep On A Plane

sleep_on_a_plane

Flying back from Dallas last week, my flight was at 2:10… in the afternoon…. in the middle of the day… on a Thursday.  As I looked around the plane I saw countless people looking exactly like the picture above… at 2:10… in the afternoon… in the middle of the day… on a Thursday.

Now, I’m not saying that taking a little cat nap or something on a plane is a weird thing.  But what I will say is that it’s pretty bizarre when it’s the middle of the day and there’s the mouth open, eyes rolling around, snoring, can’t keep your head up type of sleep going on.  I mean, seriously, it’s the middle of the day.  What would you normally be doing right now?  Even if you weren’t on a plane?

Let’s say you’re off work, the yard work is finished but you are home and have some “free time” to just do nothing.  Are you thins lethargic and out of it at home?

Maybe it’s me.  Maybe it’s something in the air they put on airplanes.  Maybe it’s a weird thing.  I don’t know.  Maybe this is the reason Stats Suck On Sunday.  Either way, are you a “plane sleeper”?

Go football teams!
