Pressure

jesus_obama

It is better to take refuge in the LORD
than to trust in man.

It is better to take refuge in the LORD
than to trust in princes.

-Psalm 118:8-9

It’s a historic day today, no doubt.  We should all be praying for our country and our new president, but I’d be careful how much expectation is put on one man.  He will let you down.  He can bring hope, but not salvation.  And that’s about as political as I’m going to get on here.

Obama’s New Car

I’m not usually a ‘car guy’ at all, but this is pretty impressive.  Totally reminds me of some futuristic science fiction movie.  I love it.

“The bodywork is reinforced with steel and titanium to create bullet-proof protection. Shooting at the windows won’t work either, since they are 5 inches thick and bullet proof as well.

The tires are built to withstand almost anything. And even if the rubber is completely destroyed, there are solid “tires” attached to the rims that will allow the car to get away. The ride will be a little harsh, but the car will still go.

Five inches of steel plating underneath the car will deflect the blast. The engine and radiator are protected against bullets and blasts as well.

The car is a sealed cocoon with its own air supply. There are oxygen tanks on board in case of chemical attack.

The car also has night vision cameras that project images onto a Heads Up Display (HUD). The driver can see in the dark.

Even the gas tank is protected with armor and filled with a special foam (like race cars use) to prevent an explosion. An automatic extinguisher system handles any fires.

The President also will be able to access some impressive technology. The car features a laptop computer with access to the Internet, plus a secure satellite phone system that will let him talk to anyone in the world.”

Thoughts?

Makes me wish I would have taken my picture with him in the airport last year.

Well, it’s over. What do you think?

Perpetuating Racism

I’m sitting at the airport waiting to board my flight to Atlanta, then eventually Southern California, watching CNN on the screen in the boarding area. Obviously the majority of the talk is about the presidential race, sprinkled with the anniversary of the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr..

Naturally the brilliant minds at CNN have connected the two pointing out that the movement that Martin Luther King Jr. started so long ago has made way for there to be an African American on the ballot for Presidency. I can connect that also, and think that there is absolutely some legitimacy to that. Way to go CNN. Then they put up this poll. A poll that asked Americans if “America is ready for an African American President”. The result? Are you ready for this? 48% say “Yes”, America is ready for an African American President. What’s that leave? 52%. Fifty. Two. Percent! 52% say “No”, America is not ready for an African American President. What?!! Seriously?

I don’t really understand racism. I have never understood it, but do you think America and CNN are focussing too much on pointing out that an African American is running for President? Is it perpetuating the focus of racism in America pointing it out over and over? Not to mention putting out polls like that? What do you think?

I gotta go.
