Natalie Grant’s ‘Love Revolution’ Today
Alright people. You know the drill. Today is release day for a one Mrs. Natalie Grant. I’ve been pretty heavily involved in this project, so it’s time for all the SkörKeepers to step up and start spreading the word. Make sure if you Tweet it, use the hashtag #LoveRevolution. Also make sure you use the link – http://bit.ly/bNFOk2 either on Twitter or Facebook. And for the 3 of you still on Myspace, do something there too.
Now that the business is done I’d love to know what you people think about this record. I know this crowd has a pretty diverse musical style so I’m interested in your thoughts. Thanks for spreading the word and being a part of this community.
The New NatalieGrant.com
We’ve had the amazing opportunity to work with one of Christian Music’s most powerful voices. Not only has Natalie won all sorts of Dove Awards and sold tons of records, but she’s also unbelievably involved in the war against human trafficking and slavery. Well, if you haven’t heard we just launched the brand new NatalieGrant.com. Not only that, but we’ve got some pretty cool things planned for the release of Natalie’s new record ‘Love Revolution’ as well.
So, you know how this works. I need you to head over to Natalie’s site click around, let me know what you think, and then spread the word like crazy about how awesome it is. You people are the SkörInc street team so it’s time to spread the word.
Ready? Go.
Save The GMA Dinner/Concert
So, last night Kristin and I got all dressed up and went out to the Loveless Barn for the “Save The GMA” Event with all sorts of artists and ‘Industry’ people. At first we didn’t know what to expect, because, really, what do you expect going into something like that?
When we first got there Jason Whitehorn had saved us a parking spot in the back, which was awesome, and we met and talked with him a bit outside. Then we met up with the MercyMe guys for dinner. One thing we figured out quick was that “Strolling Dinner” really means “Buffet Style” without making you feel like you are at a casino, so that was cool. Dinner was good, and hanging out with the MercyMe boys is always fun…. even if Bart has a Youth Pastor goatee that he claims was an “accident”.
Now, most of you know that this show had been given the name “The Concert Of The Decade” because of all the top acts that were there. And for Christian music and the GMA this was pretty accurate. I mean, Amy Grant started the show, then MercyMe, Natalie Grant, Kirk Franklin, Michael W. Smith, Point Of Grace, Casting Crowns and others, it’s a pretty big deal right? For me it was cool to be in the same room with not only friends, but crazy talent. Each artist did a song or two and said what the GMA meant to them and then introduced the next artist. Everything moved pretty quick but it was cool to hear all of them.
At one point it felt like a big, fat SkörInc party with MercyMe, Natalie and then Anthony Evans singing with Kirk Franklin. It was cool to see all the folks that I don’t normally see, but work with everyday. And speaking of Anthony Evans, he’s got a brand new website today, but that will be another post later today.
Now, you might notice that these aren’t the greatest pictures and there’s a good reason for that. I wasn’t working. I was on a date with Kristin and didn’t even bring my camera. It was great to be able to just hang out and not feel the pressure of working and just be a part of the evening. So, all in all it was a cool night.
Now, I’m sure there’s some readers out there that will make fun of something like this because you are too cool for Christian Music, or too cool for the GMA or whatever, and here’s what I say to that. I make a living mostly in Christian Music and I love working with the people I do. They are good people. And I don’t really care what decisions the GMA has made in the past, but if I’m not willing to show up and support something that has paid my bills for the last 5 years, what’s the point of working in the industry? So if you’re too cool, or think that last night was a waste of time and money, that’s fine. Don’t work in the ‘Industry’. But my take on the night was leaving a room full of people that loved what they do for a living and love the people they work with, and I’m included in that.
Any of you watch online last night? Or maybe you were there?
The New NatalieGrant.com
So the day has finally come. We have officially launched the new NatalieGrant.com. Aren’t you excited? Natalie has been an amazing artist to work with and I’m excited for the next level of working with her. She’s talking about a new record, lots of touring, and a bunch of other things and I’m excited to be a part of it.
So head over to the brand new NatalieGrant.com and take a look around. We’re still making sure everything is functioning right and like always, I rely on you guys to let me know if anything is screwy. But for now go take a look, and let me know what you think.
Tonight’s The Night
See those red seats? That’s where Kristin and I will be tonight for The Dove Awards. Not bad seats eh? Of course neither Kristin or I know how to really act at these kinds of things. Mostly because we don’t go to these kinds of things… and there’s the fact that we don’t really know how to ‘dress up’. And there we will be. Smack right in the middle.
We are both really excited to get to go. I’m probably more excited for Kristin to go than I am excited myself. She rarely gets to do cool things like this without juggling the boys at the same time. So tonight the boys are staying with Kristin’s dad, and we’re looking at it as a ‘date night’ of sorts.
Last year was my first time at the Doves and I was sort of taken back by the whole thing. A lot of people like to make fun of it or whatever and that’s fine. But growing up paying attention to everything music, including Christian music and knowing about all the folks I was sitting in a room with was pretty fascinating. That was last year. This year it blows my mind that Kristin and I will be sitting with them, and to be nominated, again, just kind of weirds me out.
I’m excited to be able to see Natalie and MercyMe perform, I’m excited that Kristin will get to experience it, I’m excited to see some friends, and I’m excited to see what happens with this whole ‘fluke nomination’ thing. Here goes nothing huh?
Wally Is Listening
So tonight I was driving home from taking the boys to the movies and I flipped on the radio. Typically when I listen to the radio I have it on the Christian station here in town for a couple reasons. First, if I am driving in the mornings my friend Brant is on there and it’s cool to hear him, and second, if I am driving at night, I know Wally is on there and he loves to talk about blogs. In fact, Wally even has a blog, though it’s really hard to find if you don’t know it’s there.
So anyway, tonight I’m driving home and they start talking about this cruise thing coming up that MercyMe is going on. Wally starts talking about the MercyMe guys and how, no doubt, they will be running around on the cruise filming things for their blog. ”Daddy are they talking about your blog?”, Blue asked from the back seat. I told him it was one of the ones I work on, and told him that was pretty cool they were talking about it.
About five minutes later they started talking about a blog thing that they do every Friday, and first up they start talking about Phil’s blog and how he’s giving away a record on it. Now, he got a few of the details wrong about how the album was uploaded on there but awesome none the less that they were talking about it.
Almost instantly after talking about Phil’s blog they went into a story that was blogged about on the Fee guys blog. What the heck? Not to bad to have three blogs that I work with mentioned on the radio in a matter of ten minutes. All we needed was them to start talking about Natalie and it would have been a commercial for SkörInc. And you know what’s awesome about it all? All of these blogs are getting noticed because all of these guys are blogging well. The Industry is listening folks, and I think it’s pretty cool. Well, at least Wally is listening, and I’ll take it.
So Wally, I know you are going to see this eventually, and when you do do me a favor. Check out all those blogs you talked about tonight, and go down to the bottom and look for a common logo. Then let’s go grab coffee.
Natalie’s New Video
“I Will Not Be Moved” – Natalie Grant
It’s been cool to work with such different artists. Different from my musical style or tastes and to be involved in things that I normally wouldn’t have been able to. Today is the premier of Natalie’s new video for “I Will Not Be Moved”. It’s definitely not what I expected when they sent it to me, but I think it’s a pretty amazing video. Not to mention the cool place they are in.
