‘Lovewell’ Release

Well, it’s a big day today.  I feel like I’ve been more involved MercyMe record than anything I’ve ever been involved in as far as work goes.  From the packaging, to the web, to being involved in the planning conversations with the band and the label.  It’s crazy that it’s finally here.

Last night at midnight I started watching Twitter start to slowly pick up speed and all of the sudden ‘Lovewell’ was everywhere.  When I went to bed last night ‘The Generous Mr. Lovewell’ was sitting at #7 on all of iTunes.  That seems like a pretty big deal when it’s knocking off folks like Ke$ha and all.  Not too bad, eh?

Along with the release of the record we’ve also launched a brand new MercyMe.org and also a new ‘movement’ over at MrLovewell.com.  All sorts of crazy things going on, but it’s awesome to see all this work finally come to the forefront.

So anyway, check out the new sites, let me know what you think.  Check out ‘The Generous Mr. Lovewell’ and let me know what you think of the packaging.  I’m curious your thoughts.

MercyMe – The Generous Mr. Lovewell

So, most of you have already seen this, but here it is.  The cover I designed for MercyMe’s new record ‘The Generous Mr. Lovewell’.  It’s pretty simple, but exactly what we wanted.

Now comes the tough part of getting the rest of the packaging put together.  I’m excited to show you some of the photos, and can’t wait for this whole thing to come together.

And remember those videos I was talking about a while ago…. you can check them out here…. Lot’s more to come.

Lovewell Cometh…

Well, it’s on like Donkey Kong folks.  This thing is either going to work and be amazing or it’s not.  Either way we are in too deep to change directions now.

Today was day two of the most involved photo shoot I have ever seen.  And not only was there this intricate photo shoot going on but there were also about 30 different videos being made that will lead up to the release of the record, the final cover was being designed, props were being moved, label videos were being made, and pizza was being eaten.  All in all there were about 25-30 people involved and working on getting things “just right”.  Unreal to watch unfold.

So there’s this massive day of shooting, and all that then after we’re packed up the guys get the new single from their producer and we all pile in cars to listen to it.  Again, a pretty cool thing to see all coming together.

…..

The reason there’s this gap here in the text here is because Bart just called me… yes, at 1:27 in the morning… knowing that Ryan and I are still up working on these videos.  Well, it’s more Ryan working on it and me laughing at Bart trying to talk me into moving to Texas…. or Colorado.

Anyway, so there’s a quick update on where we’re at.  Tomorrow we’ve got one more day of shooting then it’s go time to get the packaging designed and get these videos into your hearts…. I’ve slept 4 hours in 2 days…. Giddy-up.

Headed To Dallas

vingage_camera

I’m headed to Dallas today for the MercyMe photo shoot tomorrow thru Wednesday.  What’s awesome to see is how involved everyone is in this process.  I’m not sure how other photo shoots have gone for MercyMe or anyone else, but since this is such an involved shoot it is awesome to see every band guy, every crew guy, the photographer, management, and label get so involved in the process.

We’ve got out schedule, we’ve got our locations, we’ve got the band & the photographer, so I think we’re good to go.  I’m thrilled to see what’s going to come from this week.  If everything goes the way it’s planned we’re going to have some amazing stuff to work with for the record.

I’ve got lots to do, but have a great Sunday.  I’ll keep you posted.

Here We Go

As much and those who work with me and my family probably hate it, I’ve always been one of those guys that agrees to do something and then figures out how to do it later.  It’s not like I walk around thinking that I can do anything that anyone else can, but more like I enjoy learning new things and really, when it comes down to it, why wouldn’t I say yes?  This last few months is no exception to that, so we’ll see how we do.

You may or may have not noticed that I’ve been a little more quiet on here than I normally am and there’s a good reason, I promise.  I’ve been wanting to tell you about all this “new stuff” but I had to wait to clear up some details.  Currently I’ve got some crazy new projects in the works and it’s going to be awesome.  Not only that but, I’ve been slammed busy trying to get everything in order and make sure I’m not dropping the ball anywhere.  (If I’m dropping the ball somewhere, let me know.)  So forgive me for my sparse posts on here.

First up, a brand new skorinc.us/brodyharper.com is in the works to make things a little fresher here and hopefully be able to do some more stuff.  I’ll keep things pretty basic here because, well, I’m not that exciting and that’s how this site rolls.  Mostly just words and pictures, but it will be new and awesome.

Second is sort of the big one for me.  As most of you know MercyMe has a new record coming out in May.  I’ve heard a good chunk of it and it’s going to be something pretty different for those guys.  Different and awesome.  I’m really excited to hear how it comes out when it’s done.  Now, while the recording process has nothing to do with me, the packaging and photography does.  See, I’ve somehow found myself in the position of “Art Director” for this new record.  And what better record to give something you’ve never done a shot on than one that will sell several hundred thousand copies?  I mean what could possibly go wrong right?

Seriously though.  I’m honored to be asked to do this and I’m excited to see what comes out in the end.  It’s a pretty cool concept for the record and I think the artwork and packaging will reflect that.  So be on the lookout for some new MercyMe stuff real soon and if you don’t like it, be gentle.  I fly to Dallas on Sunday for the photo shoot and then we are off to the races for getting everything done.

I’ll try to keep you posted on how things are going and hopefully in the end we’ll all look at it and think it’s a cool concept.

Lots more going on in the “regular” world of SkörInc too, but I’ll have to fill you in on that another day.
