Twitter Movie Trailer
The other day I saw the preview for the movie about the guy who created Facebook. Most likely I’ll see it, and then I, like the rest of the world, will be annoyed that someone like this guy is a bajillionaire. If you haven’t seen that trailer you can check it out here, but to be honest with you it seems a little dramatic to be a movie about Facebook. Sort of has a ‘Dead Poet’s Society vibe to it…. except it’s about a social networking platform….. A Social Networking Platform.
Who knows it might be awesome, but I’m not holding my breath. And in related news, here’s the follow-up Twitter Movie Trailer which, if it were only real, I’d probably wait in line to see.
Taken
So, we’ve got this day off in Spokane, WA and a group of us went as saw the movie Taken. Now, I’ve been a little stressed the last few days and originally the idea of going to see a movie was to relax and not be stressed. Spoiler Alert: Not the movie to see when you don’t want to be stressed out. No seriously though. It was a pretty great movie and, in my opinion, dealt with a very real issue in a way that Hollywood typically doesn’t. There was no over the top sex stuff or gratuitous violence, but was still a great movie.
Now we’re headed to Outback for some dinner and then back on the bus and off to Seattle. Great, mellow day off in Spokane. Intense movie and some mall walking.
Anyone else seen Taken? What’d you think?
Dark Knights And Clean Apples
So I have been slightly without a computer for a while because I decided to try and clean things up on it. However, doing that simply means taking every little thing off my computer and starting over and then putting everything back on it, which takes forever. So now I think I am almost officially caught up to where I need to be to actually use my computer and have it not take fifteen minutes to do anything.
Thursday night we went to see The Dark Knight. Was it good? Yeah. Was is creepy? Yeah. Was it violent? Yeah. Did Heath Ledger do a great job? Yeah. That’s right, everything you have heard, read about, seen online and cared to listen to is exactly what I would say about the movie. Best movie ever? Not so much. It’s good, but not life changing. Then again, what movie is? I did however get a chance to run into Coury there, who was in fact wearing a shirt and also was kind enough to save us seats. We also ran in to Stephen so it was cool to see him and talk a bit.
So how many of you have seen it? If so, on a scale of one to five what do you give it? I’m thinking a 4, but that might be generous.
A House Divided
The other night Kristin and I watched “No Country For Old Men”. I had seen it before and kept telling Kristin that she needed to see it with me again. I think she ignored me at first, but then when it won all sorts of awards at the Oscars she mentioned to me, “Huh, that must be a pretty good movie.” Nevermind the recommendation of your husband. I see how it is.
So anyway, we watched it the other night, and then yesterday she tells me:
“You know, I don’t think I liked that movie.”
“You mean you officially didn’t like it? Or you are just indifferent to it?”
“I mean that I didn’t like it didn’t like it.”
“How could you not like it? Did you get it?”
“I got it, and didn’t like it”
So now we have talked about it a few times since and I feel like it’s my duty to convince her that she really did like it, she just doesn’t know it, because most likely that’s it. She didn’t like all the death and killing and blood and junk. I can see that, but that’s when I tell her, “See, that’s why it’s no country for old men. Get it?” She responds, “I get it, I just don’t like it”. Dang it. I think I will remind her how many awards it won. Maybe that will work.
Did you see it? What’d you think?
Worst. Movie. Ever.
Kristin and I aren’t ones to turn movies off. We will opt out of finishing a movie if it’s content is unbearably filthy, but then again we generally wouldn’t choose to watch something of that nature in the first place. But out of sheer boredom, typically not. There will be the occasional “fall asleep in the middle of a movie”, but that is more me than Kristin.
In fact, there is only one time in our marriage that I can think of where we literally looked at each other in the middle of a movie and said, “Why are we still watching this?”. It was several years ago, and I don’t even think we had kids. We rented this Ben Affleck and Gwyneth Paltrow number called “Bounce”, thinking it might be a cool little “stay home and have a date night” movie. You know, a little romantic comedy. We’ll laugh, we’ll cry, we’ll fall in love all over again. Or…… we will be bored out of our minds and scratching our heads knowing we spent a whole three dollars on this garbage.
Listen, I’m sorry if you liked the movie “Bounce”. I’m sorry if you like Ben Affleck. I’m sorry if you like Gwyneth Paltrow, or kids named Apple, or even Coldplay, but this movie was horrid. Quite possibly the worst movie I have ever seen. Scratch that…. the worst movie I have ever started and turned off before the “truth came out and she got mad at him for lying to her and causing her to fall in love with him and then he says he’s sorry and she forgives him and they live happily ever after….”
What’s the worst movie you have ever seen?
Long Way Down
Remember when I talked about Long Way Round? Did you see it? If not, you still need to. And if you have here’s the second installment. This time they ride motorcycles from John o’ Groats in Scotland to Cape Town in South Africa. And from what I can tell it’s just as good as the first one.
Kristin and I started it last night and watched two of the episodes in a row. Every time I watch an episode it makes me want to do something crazy and exciting. So far they have made it in to Africa and are camping on a beach in a sand storm. It was late when it finished, I wasn’t really paying attention to details. If you haven’t seen it, I’m not one to tell you what to do with your entertainment time, but this is worth it to watch.
Who’s seen it?
