Foy Vance – Time Lays Low
So check this out. I got this in the mail today from my friend I’ve never actually met, Connor McCullough from Belfast. Apparently, there were only 1000 of these Foy Vance EP’s made called “Time Lays Low” and Connor was kind enough to grab me number 849 and send it to me. Now, most of you know that I love almost any music that comes from Ireland (Nothern or otherwise) and Foy is no exception.
Not only do I love Foy’s music, but he’s a great guy and I hope to get to see him again when he’s back in Nashville. And I know you’ve heard it before, but if you haven’t listened to me, then now is the time. Go buy Foy’s record Hope and anything else you can get from him. Seriously. Go. And then read his blog and tell him I said hi.
Attention Nashville
Alright Nashville, I don’t do this much, but it is absolutely imperative that you, yes you, leave Sunday night free. Sunday night, the fifteenth of March, four days from now needs to be completely open to anything else. Foy Vance sent me an email today mentioning that he will be in town Sunday and Monday night. Here’s what the email said:
Hey Brody… long time no speak.
Was speaking a couple in Belfast that mentioned you and thereby reminded me to email you about my coming back to Nashville.
Looks like I may have my own gig 15th at the Dan McGuiness Pub and then a songs in the round the next night (same pub)… hope you can make it (& bring a crowd;)..

Now, there’s only one problem. I won’t be here on Sunday, as I will be on a plane headed to Denver, then a bus headed to Montana. It’s sad, I know. But that in no way means that every single person reading this blog that lives in Nashville shouldn’t show up and say ‘hi’ for me. And in the meantime, check out Foy’s Blog and his Twitter and give him that very warm ‘…in case you were wondering’ hello. And if you can’t make the show because you don’t live here, then do what you can to buy Foy’s record “Hope”. Seriously… go… now.

I literally, just moments ago, received an email from our favorite Northern Ireland singer-songwriter, Foy Vance. Here is what the email said:

I’m very sorry, but I forgot to put the date on my website…!! oops

I haven’t figured out how I am going to be able to go tonight, but I am going to give it a shot. Here are the details now added to his site:Belfast/Nashville Sister Cities concert. BNC with Foy Vance and Ben Glover, Mary Gauthier, Brian Houston, Eilidh Patterson and Bill Lloyd.
If you haven’t heard Foy’s music yet, you need to. Somehow purchase his album and listen all the way through. Then repeat as needed.
