Positive Post Tuesday
You know what’s cool about working in the Christian Music Industry? You get to meet a ton of people who are genuinely nice, good people. Now, there might be a few ‘bad apples’ out there, but typically when someone has dedicated their life to a ministry in music, when you meet them or hang out with them, nine times out of ten it’s a refreshing experience.
Jason, from 33 Miles, is no exception to that rule. I have met Jason a few times since we have lived in the same town. In fact, when Kristin and I first moved to Nashville we were in the same Bible study at church for a while. I doubt he remembers, simply because we were new and never talked. Man, talk about a rabbit trail…. Anyway, I had the chance to meet with Jason today about (what else) blogging and the possibility of working together. I’m excited about this for a couple of reasons, but one that stands out to me is that Jason is already blogging. In fact, go now and tell him hello on his blog…. I will wait.
I’m excited about the fact that he is already blogging and sees the value of doing it and taking it to the next level. Now, nothing was nailed down completely today, but I am looking forward to talking to them more about things. Another thing that excites me about the possibility of working with Jason refers to the first part of this post. He’s a great guy. He’s nice, he’s down to earth, he’s genuine and I think he would be a great hang even if we weren’t working together. It’s great to continually be connecting with people in an industry where we may have different talents and passions but we all have a bond.
Say what you want about Christian music and the industry itself, but I love the idea of connecting with people who care about their beliefs and care about the people around them. That to me seems like an ideal place to be.
It’s Tuesday. You know what to do.
A Prediction
It was on July 12th that I started sending pictures directly to the sidebar of this blog instantly from my phone. Did you notice? It might annoy some of you. Some of you might think it’s cool. Basically these are things that I am looking at, the exact moment I send them to the blog. Nothing new, I know. It’s nothing that hasn’t been done before and it’s certainly not re-inventing any wheels here…. maybe.
To my knowledge, on July 12th nobody in the Christian Music Industry was doing it. To my knowledge Twitter was (and might be) still the king of the “instant”, but this week I want to try something. This week SkörInc is getting all of the artists that we work with set up with something similar. The idea? Bringing something even more instant to the blog and getting more people involved and ultimately making it more fun. This means that these artists will take pictures with their phone and instantly send them to their blogs. Again, not re-inventing the wheel here, but I have a secret mission for you. Are you ready? Okay it’s not really that secret. I want you all to keep an eye out, in the next two or three weeks and see how many of these coincidentally start popping up and let me know.
Now before anyone blasts me with a comment that says “You’re stupid. David Crowder has been doing this for two weeks”, let me mention. Yes, I know David Crowder has been doing this on his “band hub” for around two weeks. And you know why? Because David Crowder is a smart fellah.
So there’s your mission. Let’s, together, see how many of these clever little ideas start gaining ground in The Industry over the next few weeks. You want to?

The Next Step
So here’s the deal. Allow me to do a little explaining. Twice now I have asked on this blog which Christian musicians you, blog readers, would want to see blogging. I have taken the list and figured out who the top nineteen artists are. Originally there were twenty, but I was completely unable to find any information on the twentieth artist online, which only goes to show how bad they need to be blogging. Now I am going to ask you to help me out.
Here’s the part that might make people start to hate me, but it also may just work. SkörInc has launched a new, very basic, website with a very brief explanation of what it is we do. Along with a new site, I have compiled the list of artists along with the general contact info for that artists management and record label. This actually might get me kicked out of Nashville, but below is a list of the top nineteen artists you requested along with their management company’s email address and their record labels email address. Obviously I am not going to give out non-public information so all of these email addresses were found somewhere on the Internet and very public. I have just put them all in one place.
Here’s what I am asking you to do. I know it will take some time today, but I’m asking you that if you requested any of those artists that you kindly and respectfully send them an email requesting that their artists start blogging with SkörInc. Tell them your experience with blogging. Tell them why you want them to blog. You can even tell them I sent you. Most of the “industry” doesn’t know about blogging because they haven’t heard about it. Now is our chance to tell them. Because blogging is such a “grassroots” movement, there is no reason that this community here can’t make a loud noise in the industry. So here it is. Please consider taking the time to do this. And if in a week or so I am moving to Canada you’ll know why.

So there it is. Make sure to be nice and make sure to tell them why you want their artists to blog. Also remember to send them to SkörInc.com to get started. Obviously a lot of these emails are “info@” something, but I promise you if they get enough emails at that address someone will read them. Let’s make some noise today. Ready? Go.
