It’s working! And let me tell you why.

I have had the opportunity to work with some amazingly talented people that are totally believing in what I am doing, and jumping in with both feet.  Today was a day that proved to me that what we are doing is working, and I am totally excited about it.

A couple things I would like to point out that I am really excited about is first, see the yellow writing on that picture over there?  Phil made an amazing video the other day while we were sitting in his hotel room talking about blog ideas.  So far in the past two and a half days the video has been viewed almost two thousand times, and was ranked number ninety of the most viewed musicians on YouTube.  What the crap?!  In all of Youtube! You know… in the entire world and stuff. I love it. Also, Phil made an announcement on his blog tonight that will, I believe, will revolutionize and solidify his “presence” in the Christian music industry, and I love that I get to be a part of it.

Secondly, Natalie who took home the Dove Award for “Female Vocalist Of The Year”, reached a new high on her blog today, totaling over four-thousand people.  Four-Thousand.  Amazing talent and I love that I am allowed to be involved in a small part of her career this way.  It’s amazing to see this stuff working.

And third, my father-in-law called me on the way home from Blue’s baseball game and told me that MercyMe’s blog was being featured and talked about on Total Axxess.  Now for those of you that don’t know, Total Axxess, from what I understand, isn’t just a Nashville thing.  It’s broadcast from here, but is all over the country and that’s a big deal I think.  I’m not sure all that was said but I would have loved to have heard it.  Any of you hear it?  And what’s cool to see is even all the industry folks coming to their blog including other artists.  Today Aaron Shust even commented.

So anyway, I just love to see things working and I love to be a part of helping these amazingly talented people get out into the world wide internets a little better.  It’s been a good day and now I am off to bed.

Remember a while back we played that “Chain Reaction” game. I thought that was fun. It went on for quite a while and we ended up with over seventy answers. I thought we could beat last times record and keep it going, only this time I don’t want to pick the word we start with. So whoever leaves the first comment, leave one word, then we go from there. Remember, try to keep the words possible to continue. Here are some examples: “windshield wiper” “wiper blade” “knife blade”. Get it?

Ready? Go.

Okay everyone, I haven’t asked in a while, but last night we launched Natalie Grants new blog and I need your help getting the word out.  Randy, once again, has worked his butt off and come up with something pretty amazing.  There is so much happening on this blog, that it’s amazing it all works.

I met Natalie a few months ago and we started talking about blogs and web stuff and she was pretty interested from the start.  She has a great grasp on what a blog is and what it can be, she’s about as real as it gets and has a great voice.   It’s a completely different world from the “band” blog so it will be neat to see it develop.

So head over to Natalie’s blog, say hello, and take a look around.  Also make sure to add her to your links.  Thanks for all your help getting the word out about these blogs.  It really is doing something amazing in the industry.

Well, I did it. I signed up on several of the world wide web social networking systems against my better judgement. You might be asking, why. Why did Brody sign up on all of those world wide web social networking systems?

Well I can tell you why. I did it so I could use them to point people here. I did it so I could learn how to use them to point people here. And I did it because I need to know how to use that stuff. So there you have it folks. Yes, I have a MySpace. No, there is nothing on it. Yes, I have a Facebook. No, there is nothing on it. Yes I have a Virb. You guessed it… nothing on it. I also have a Twitter account, that I have used a couple times, but, no there’s not much there. Aren’t you impressed?

So now comes the fun part of digging through all the weird code and verifications to make sure I know how to work these things. After all, everyone has them right? Now I do to.

Seriously, what really spurred this on was the announcement of this, and my quest to know more about the different things concerning artists and online presence. Who knows maybe someday we can all work together as a big happy world wide web social networking family.

I listened to Bart sing the same song over and over again for about five hours yesterday. He’s in town recording, and well, that’s how you record. You do it over and over…. and over… and over again.

Although the place that we were at listening to this same song over and over was pretty amazing. I had heard of this place before but never been. It’s got a cool creepy castle vibe, but also a pretty cool place to hang out. We even watched a guy try to drink a gallon of chocolate milk. It didn’t work.

I am going back out there tomorrow to take some more pictures and hopefully some video and will share with you what I can. Have a great morning.

daniel.jpgRemember last week when we saved our pennies? How many of you got it? What did you think? Honestly I still have it in my car and listen to it often.

Well Daniel’s Blog is officially up and running. We are still working out a few kinks, but Daniel has started posting on it and promises to regularly so make sure to subscribe. I think it will be a fun process to see his blog grow from this community into his very own community. Daniel has been a great guy to work with and I am as excited to see how this blog affects his career as I am to read it and get to know his music better.

So head over to Daniel’s Blog and say hey.

Go on… get...

adoreandtremble.jpgDid you save your pennies? You need five hundred and ninety four of them for today.

A few weeks ago I got an email coming from the contact page of this blog. It was asking a few marketing questions and some internet(y) questions and introducing me to a new artist. I’d never heard of Daniel before, but answered the questions the best I could, with my opinions on blogging and marketing and all that. After three or four more emails Daniel sent me a copy of his EP to check out. It took me a day or two to get to it, but when I had time to sit and listen to it, I loved it.

Now, I’m no professional music critic by any stretch of the imagination, but I feel like I know when I hear something that has the potential to go somewhere, and this, in my opinion is it. Daniel’s got a clean acoustic sound, with vocals that remind me of early Derek Webb, you know, before he was mad at stuff.

Daniel and I emailed back and forth and after I listened to his album a few times, I knew that I wanted to do what I could to help out with his online presence. I read a bit about him and through talking to him, I found out that he is a worship leader from North Carolina, and isn’t able to travel as much as other artists. I am by no means some online guru guy, but I love the idea of great artists succeeding and using every means possible to do that. We are currently in the process of setting Daniel up a blog, and have been talking about some other ideas aside from traveling a ton.

So here’s the project. Take the five dollars and ninety four cents that you saved this week, and buy Daniel’s record on iTunes. Listen to it, then come back here and let’s talk about it. Think of the comments section as a place to review the record. I know there are plenty of “music folks” reading this blog, (Seth, Euphrony, Kat, Mark, Randy, Carlos, Jeremy, Michael, Chad, Spence and the list goes on) and I want to get this record to as many people as possible this weekend. Daniel’s music is going somewhere, and we can be a part of getting it there.

So that’s the project. It’s pretty easy. Spend five dollars and ninety four cents, listen to some good music, then come here and review it.

Ready? Go.

We are going to cross the 50,000 hit mark today down there on that little Site Meter thing. Who’s going to be the one that lands on exactly 50,000? And what awesome prize should you get? And who are these weird kids and where are their parents?

If you haven’t been reading Mark Lee’s blog… well, that’s just silly. There’s no reason not to. And I’m not just saying that because he said nice things about me. Mark’s blogs was one of the first I started reading and he has kept it up pretty regularly even though he’s a huge rock star.

Mark and I have been talking about a super secret project for a long time and as soon as we are in the same area for more than an hour we will unveil it in all it’s glory. But for now it’s something we talk about once or twice a month.

So if you haven’t, check out Mark’s blog and make sure to say hi.
