Podcasts
I’ve never been a huge Podcast guy. And by that I mean, I haven’t ever really paid any attention to them at all. In fact, there’s only one Podcast that I am subscribed to, but I do love it. It’s the Mars Hill Church podcast. Normally I only have the time to listen to them on airplanes, but I’ve decided I need to start listening to them regularly. Anyone else out there into Podcasts? I mean there’s something to them right? People like them? Who has the time to listen to them every day? What’s your favorite podcast? Anything I need to be checking out?
Ready? Go.
Netflix
I’m not sure why it took this long, but Kristin and I have decided to give Netflix a shot. It could have been that we just don’t watch that much stuff, or maybe we didn’t rent that much stuff, but now we’re in.
See, we have different movie tastes and sometimes we’re looking for things at the local Blockbuster that they just don’t have. I’d heard friends talking about Netflix and how awesome it was and all that for years, but never really thought about it. In fact, the clincher for me was when we were looking for a movie called Gymkata and we couldn’t find it anywhere. We were talking about it and I wondered if the great Netflix had it. Bam. There it was. Along with all sorts of weird documentaries that we’ve wanted to see like Food Inc and Darius Goes West. It’s like Christmas.
So we are officially Netflixers. The only problem? We got some movies on Tuesday and they are still sitting in the envelope on my desk… un-opened… Wonder if we’ll ever have time to watch these things.
Recommend me some Netflix movies. What’cha got?
Auditions
I sat through six bass auditions today. Six guys coming in, trying their hardest to play songs they don’t know and sing along with songs they’ve only heard a few times with the intention of singing. Six guys who are actively looking for work and have dedicated their lives to playing the bass in hopes for ‘that gig’. And they we’re all really good players.
Now, I don’t ask questions as to where the old bass player went, and honestly I don’t really need to know, but today was ‘find Billy Currington a new bass player day’. I was there to do some video and keep management company while the other guys were, you know, playing. And so we watched… six guys… play four songs each… over and over again.
What it did make me realize is how much pressure these poor guys are under. Something I’ve never really thought about. I mean one guy’s hands were literally shaking. So, anyway, props to all you guys out there that walk into a room full of guys that already know each other to be judged on no only your playing ability, but also your “look” and how cool of a hang you are. I honestly don’t know if I could do it.
A Gallon A Day
So, I’ve decided to start drinking a gallon of water a day. I know it might not sound like a lot to some people, but I think it’s a lot. I mean, why would anyone drink a gallon of anything a day? I can’t imagine sitting down with a gallon jug of water and looking at it as if you had to finish it. Although, after doing some math it doesn’t seem like it will be that hard.
If I drink eight of the sixteen ounce water bottles in a day that’s a gallon and that doesn’t seem like that big of a deal. I’m sure I’ve done that before, but I’m making a conscious effort to do it every day. That’s going to be the tricky part.
How much water do you drink a day?
I Thought You Didn’t Like Me
I realized this morning that I had the comments turned off on yesterday’s post. What the heck? Why would I do that? I think sometimes my blog just turns them off automatically and I didn’t notice. Late last night I started to wonder why I hadn’t got a comment all day. I thought you were mad at me or something. I mean, you still might all be mad at me, but at least you can comment about it now.
Today the plan is to stay home and relax for a while, get some work done, then having a barbeque with friends later tonight. What’s your Labor Day plans today?
Travel Day
So tomorrow I will be running around a bunch and I’m not sure I will have much time to blog. For those of you that don’t know, I am heading to Portland to meet up with Phil to record and video his live album show. Well, I won’t be the one recording it, but I will be there during the recording of it… you get the idea.
I’m excited to be in Portland again. There is something magically artistic about that place and normally when I am there something cool happens. It’s also cool that it’s where Randy is, so we will be able to get some work done and actually be in the same room to do the work for once.
A couple random things from today. I officially made the switch from Safari to Firefox, and am not sure that I really like it yet. Everything seems so bubbly and annoying to me. And I swear it’s slower, but I could be making that up. What are you using?
Also Kristin and I are two episodes away from finishing the second season of LOST. Ana Lucia is dead and the show is now better because of it. Although it’s a bit creepy that Michael is all whacked out now. I think Season One kept my attention a little better but it’s still a great show.
I rode the scooter to my friend Michael’s house today. We did a rad video for his blog (that he never updates) but I think it’s not working or something. Everyone head to Michael’s blog and harass him about blogging and say hello for me.
So that’s it from this place. I will be around tomorrow but mostly on Twitter so check me out there. I am a little curious about how many people that read this blog are going to be at the show on Friday. I know a couple people have commented already about being there, so let’s hear it. Who’s watching online, and who’s going to be there?
**Quick update. I am currently editing this in Safari because Firefox was being lame. One more like that and we are in a fight.**
Driving To Knoxville
I’m driving to Knoxville today. It will be about an eight hour, round trip. The other day MercyMe had a show cancel there, but not before their merch manager had over five thousand CD’s shipped to the venue. So I agreed to rent a truck, and drive out there to get them.
The band is flying in tonight so I will meet them and the bus late tonight and give them the CD’s, then head home. Sounds like a pretty exciting day huh? It actually will be kind of cool to have some time to just drive and think. Later this week Winter Jam is in Nashville so that will be fun to take the boys to.
Can you tell I can’t think of anything to talk about?
