The Finale

So… What’d you think?  Theories?  Frustration?  Did you even watch it?  What did you think of the LOST Series Finale?

Hell’s Kitchen

hells-kitchen

So, Kristin and I are hooked on this show.  Now, I know that there are all sorts of you people out there thinking this is just some ego-maniac who stands around and yells at people who do things wrong, and cusses too much and whatever.  And well, you may be right, but that doesn’t make it less awesome.

Here’s the thing.  This guys a professional.  He knows how to cook.  He’s got a million restaurants all over the place and now has a show weeding out folks that he wants to put in charge of these restaurants.  I don’t know the details, but I know that these winners get to be the head chef at one of his places and I’d assume a decent salary to go along with it.  And even the second place people, I’d imagine don’t have problems landing a chef job somewhere else.  Sure it’s “reality” TV and I’m sure it’s not all that it seems, but I still love to follow this show.

Kristin thinks that I like watching him because I secretly want to be able to do that.  She thinks I want to be able to scream at people and call them ‘donuts’ and throw things and all that.  But I’m here to say, there’s nothing secret about it.  I think it’d be awesome.  Not to be a jerk, but to have the position to demand excellence and the skill to back it up.  I think there’s something to be said for that.

And for all you ‘haters’ out there, this dude has a couple other shows on TV now where he does some other stuff.  One, he goes into restaurants that are nearing bankruptcy and yells and screams, then gives them a completely new start and a plan for success.  Again, something I’d love to do.  Then he’s got another show called “The F Word” and we’re still trying to figure out what that show is about but it’s pretty awesome to watch too.  Not as much yelling and screaming, but some really cool cooking stuff.

So that’s my really wordy recommendation justification for watching everything that is Gordon Ramsay.  He seems like a perfectionist that isn’t going to take any crap from anyone, and when it comes down to it, who wouldn’t want to be a little like that?

Anyone else watch any of his shows?  Thoughts?

Whale Wars

whale_wars_sea_shepherd

Last night Kristin and I were flipping through channels and for some reason I am always drawn to Animal Planet.  Well last night we stumbled on to this little gem, called Whale Wars.  Now, I’d heard of this before but never actually watched it, but last night I was completely captivated by this show.  I still don’t really get it, but I know that the idea is that this team of whale savers goes out and tries to stop people from whaling.  Makes sense right?  The thing I don’t get really is the legality of these independent whale savers going out in the middle of the Antarctic Sea and throwing stink bombs and acid at whaling boats.

Not only was the fact that this team was throwing acid at boats weird, but the defenses that the whaling boats had was pretty impressive too.  Along with water cannons surrounding the ship, most of the whaling ships had LRAD’s on the top and were literally shooting these sound waves at a helicopter pilot trying to get him to crash.  What the heck?!  Is this for real?

Naturally, I am now recording every new episode of this show so I can watch it and try to figure out what the heck is really going on.  What government is monitoring this stuff?  Throwing stink bombs?  Really?  I’m curious how that stops people from killing whales.  I suppose I need to watch it more to really grasp what’s going on, but for now I love it.

Have you seen it?  What do we think?

Olympic Talk

I’ve never been a big Olympics fan.  I watched them growing up but it always seemed pretty boring to me.  What’s funny though is, even with all the hype and even the amazing opening ceremony stuff and after my interest level drops pretty quick, I continue to watch because that’s what I am supposed to do.  I will have it on in the background, pay attention to what the news is saying and every once in a while I find myself sucked in.

Last night was one of those nights.  The girls gymnastics was on for background noise, and as soon as that ended the men’s swimming started.  Again, it was mostly background noise while I was doing other things.  I obviously haven’t kept up on all the drama surrounding the Games, but I started to catch a little ‘trash talk’ that the French were throwing at the American relay team.  The announcers did their job and sucked me in reading quotes of what the French said.  Then it was race time.

I still don’t know anything about swimming, but I know they were going fast and according to the announcers they were shattering World records.  Then it was this amazing ‘come from behind’ win for the Americans as the camera’s focussed on the depressed, trash talking French.  Crazy drama.

It’s not that I like or dislike the Olympics, it just takes me time to get into it.  It’s sort of like Football or something.  I don’t really care about the season, but when it’s Superbowl time, I like to watch and get sucked in.

Anyone else like that?

God’s Pottery

I might be late to talk about this, but Kristin and I watched a previous episode of Last Comic Standing last night online and one of the comedian contestants on the show were these guys called God’s Pottery.  They are this over the top Christian singing duo that sings about wholesome things and wear shirts that say stuff like “Virginity Rocks”.  Honestly I thought they were pretty funny.  A little on the “Dumb And Dumber” side, but really funny about it.  And they even have a blog

Here’s what I am wondering.  Do Christians see this as (a.) a mockery of everything “Christian” by making Christians look like idiots, (b.) the first time Christians aren’t trying to copy the culture around them and going so far the other way it turns to comedy, or (c.) a legit ministry by creating something so absurd that they are embraced by a culture looking for something absurd?  I honestly go back and forth.  They crack me up but are also pretty annoying, and that’s not even throwing the whole “Christian” thing in to it.  Either way I think what they have created is something that makes you want to know more. And that’s the brilliant part.

I know there’s a wide range of belief’s represented here on this blog so I’m curious what you guys think?

It’s A Number Four Guard

Now, I don’t claim to be able to answer all the questions on the show LOST.  I don’t even claim to remember all the things that could raise questions on the show LOST.  Tonight Kristin and I almost finished Season Three.  We have one more episode and then apparently there is an “enhanced” version of the Season Three finale.

So far lots of people have died, some have “switched teams”, others have almost died and not many questions are answered.  However there is one question that I have that I’m not sure will ever be answered and that is this. Who’s cutting Jack’s hair all this time?   I shaved my head a few weeks ago because I was tired of dealing with having hair.  That was only a few weeks ago, and already I am finding myself in a situation where I need to decide whether to cut it again, or start the whole “growing out” process again.  Jack just seems to have that perfectly shaved head the entire time.

Now, I know what you are saying.  ”Well Brody, what about everyone else on the island?  Their hair doesn’t look like it’s growing either.  What do you say about that?”  And to that I would say, “Well they have scissors, but they don’t have clippers, now do they?”.  There’s no possible way that Jack could get his hair like that without using clippers with a number four guard and I’m not seeing that in the bonus features.  Sure, razors for the bald fella.  I’ll give you that.  Scissors for everyone else.  But not Jack.  There’s no way.

So these are the things that keep me up late on a Sunday night.  You?

**P.S.  If you give anything away about the season finale of Season Three, I will publicly humiliate you in front everyone who reads this blog.  We haven’t seen it yet, so play nice. **

She May Have Ruined LOST

Kristin and I are slowly moving along watching LOST.  We made it through the first season, and now are into the second.  It’s still good but the Ana Lucia character may be ruining the show for me.  Maybe not even the character so much as the actress playing the character.  There are only two actresses that I can’t stand to watch do anything.  Cameron Diaz and this one.  I don’t even know her name, but I hate every character she decides to do.

It bothers me so much that she has completely taken over the show with her “drunken with inner rage, I’m the toughest girl ever but can’t keep my eyes completely open because I am so angry” acting ability.  Then to find out last night, that in the show, before the plane crash, she was an “angry, tough, 102 pound” cop.  Sound familiar?  I just think she is a horrid actress that can only play one role and does a pretty bad job even at that.  Maybe she should look into a romantic comedy or something.

It’s also a little odd to me that this giant muscly Mr. Echo guy, or even Jin who beat the hell out of Michael at one point can’t stand up to her and take her gun away.  It’s just plain annoying and has completely changed my mindset while watching the show.  I just cant stop thinking about how annoying the combination of this actress and the character she is playing is.

I’m assuming she dies eventually because people are still putting up with the show and there is no way people would continue to watch with her.  Does she bug anyone else?  Or did she?

Stuck In ATL

I’m stuck in the Atlanta airport for the next five hours. The weather in Nashville delayed us taking off and I missed my connecting flight. So here I sit for the next five hours…. What to do… What to do?

Late To The Party…On Purpose

Well, Kristin and I have been talking about it for a while, but we finally started watching Lost last night.

Neither one of us had seen even a minute of the show previous to last night. It’s not like we had something against it, it’s just that, at first, we couldn’t commit to being in the same place in front of our TV every time the show was on. We don’t have anything to record it, so if we missed one we would be stuck. Then it got to the point where we were too behind to start watching.

I have continued to hear how amazing this show is, and how it’s like a movie and not like regular TV, and how it keeps getting better and all that, but still didn’t have time to give it a chance. Now with ABC running full screen, high definition, full episodes for free, we decided to give it a shot. We started at the beginning and watched the two pilot episodes last night. I think it just might be as good as everyone has been saying. Right up front though, I am a little annoyed that Jack seems to know everything about everything, but I’m sure that something weird will happen with him.

So anyway, we are a little behind all of you, but I’m cool with that. I think it’s awesome that we are so far behind and we have so many episode to watch to be current. No waiting for the next one.

I assume most of you watch Lost, but is there anyone that doesn’t watch it? More interesting to me, is there anyone that doesn’t like it?
