Death Cab For Cutie Talk
I didn’t get a chance to talk about Death Cab’s new record much because we were traveling, but I did want to point out a few things. The album is good, but not their best. I will say this; it takes me a few listens for their albums to grow on me and I have only listened through the whole thing four or five times. With that being said, here’s my top songs on the new record in the order that I think they deserve.
1. Cath… -
Ben Gibbard is a brilliant writer but this is the best verse on the entire record in my opinion:
Cath…
She stands with a well intentioned man
But she can’t relax with his hand on the small of her back
As the flashbulbs burst she holds a smile
Like someone would hold a crying child
Brilliant!
2. The Ice Is Getting Thinner
3. Bixby Canyon Bridge
4. Your New Twin Sized Bed
Now here’s the deal though. Most people think that Death Cab have only made two records. If you are one of those people allow me to recommend some amazing listening. First of all, in my opinion the best Death Cab record, hands down, no questions, is The Photo Album. If the song “Styrofoam Plates” doesn’t wreck you I don’t know what will. Easily one of their best songs. Also the album Transatlanticism is a must have. They have a few other records but those are the two worth checking out if you haven’t.
Here’s my top Death Cab songs if you are interested.
10. Title And Registration (Transatlanticism)
9. Why You’d Want To Live Here (The Photo Album)
8. We Laugh Indoors (The Photo Album)
7. Information Travels Faster (The Photo Album)
6. The Ice Is Getting Thinner (Narrow Stairs)
5. Brothers On A Hotel Bed (Plans)
4. Cath… (Narrow Stairs)
3. What Sarah Said (Plans)
2. I Will Follow You Into The Dark (Plans)
1. Styrofoam Plates (The Photo Album
“Stats Suck Sunday” – M To The B
That’s right. It’s Michael Bolton. Tell me, how are we supposed to live without him? Now that we’ve been loving him so long? You’re welcome.
Got a “Stats Suck Sunday” post today? Something that you didn’t put a whole lot of time or thought in to? Something that tomorrow you will wonder why you posted, but then realize that it didn’t matter because your stats sucked today? Something like Michael Bolton singing while sitting backwards on a chair? Let’s see em.
Link Loved
I’ve been ‘link loved’ a lot since I started this blog and I appreciate it a lot. Today I wanted to try something in celebration of being “link loved”. Here’s what I am thinking. I found this little stat box in my Google Analytics. Now these stats aren’t from the beginning of my blog, but more simply the beginning of the year. From January 1st until now these sites are the top ten sites referring people to me. Isn’t that sweet of them?
Here’s what I am thinking. Somewhere in your blog stats, there is a way to find this same type of thing. Most of you folks know how to find it. Let’s make a linked list in the comments section of this post of your top ten referrals (excluding Google, Twitter, and other things like that), and give them a big fat “thanks for sending people my way”. That way we can all go check out the folks that are sending people your way the most. In my case there are only seven actual people in my top ten, but your list in the comments should look something like this:
1.RagamuffinSoul.com
2.ThisisKristin.com
3.AndriaMusic.wordpress.com
4.BrianSeay.wordpress.com
5.DaleyHake.com
6.AaronIvey.wordpress.com
7.VisualComa.com
So, that’s it. Let’s see your top ten. Remember, just list and link to the people in your top ten list, not Google or Twitter or anything like that.
**Just a heads up though. Because you are putting so many links in the comments it will be sent to my spam box at first. So if you don’t see your comment right away, don’t worry, I will get it out.**
Ready? Go.
iLiberty
So the other day my friend Seth blogged about this pretty amazing application for his iPhone. Naturally, after reading what Seth had to say about all the different things he could now do with his iPhone, including Super Mario Brothers, recording music, Etch-N-Sketch, and GPS, I was intrigued and a hair jealous. Seth sent me the link and now I too, have the entire King James Bible on my iPhone. I also have GPS, a cool locating Twitter Application and a game where I can smash marbles into things. It’s pretty awesome. I can also record video now with my phone, which is something I never understood why Apple didn’t do, and I can also play guitar on my phone.
Mostly all of this stuff will be used to entertain either myself or my kids when we are places that we need to be quiet and distracted. I am still sorting through all the different things that this thing has. There are tons of games, photo applications, dictionaries, alarms, and a ton of other stuff that I have no idea what it is.
So if you have an iPhone, I would suggest checking out iLiberty. There are a million different ways to waste your battery faster, and you might find some of it useful.
Check it out. And Thanks Seth.
