Positive Post Tuesday
I got a call last night from a friend of mine from high school. I’ve talked about him before on here, but it was cool to connect with him again and see where he is at in life. I love “catching up” with people. It’s fun for me to hear what they have been up to and explain what we have been up to.
Kevin has bounced around between Portland, OR and Lexington, KY, as well as outside Sacramento, CA where we grew up and somehow we always seem to remain in contact. He’s one of those guys that you can start talking to and feel like you talk every day. That happened last night. Before I knew it I had been on the phone for over an hour and it was cool to feel like I was caught up with him.
Kevin’s back in Portland now and making some more music. And speaking of his music, there is no reason to not go buy his record. It’s one of the most creative things I have ever heard and it’s the perfect music to just soak in.
Anyway. Kevin’s been a good friend for a long time and it was awesome to talk to him last night for a while. I’m glad he’s back in Portland doing what he loves to do and I’m excited to hear what he comes up with.
Once again, welcome to Tuesday. Last week we made it all the way to 32 entries. 32 accounts of people being encouraged. That’s awesome to me. Thanks for being a part. Let’s see if we can get more today. For those of you just showing up here’s how it works. It’s pretty simple. (1) Write something nice about someone, building them up, encouraging them, you know.. being nice. (2) Fill out the box below. Have fun.
More Music You’ve Never Heard
This week I was contacted by some friends letting me know about some more “music you’ve never heard”. One bad is a friend of a friend, and they are in a contest right now trying to win the chance to open for Hawk Nelson at The Rock Of Ages Festival in California. The second is a friend of mine from a tour about two years ago.
First off is a band called Chasing Truth. Here’s the cool thing about them. They are like thirteen years old or something and have been playing for three years. It’s pretty impressive when you start to think about the dedication and focus that it takes to even become a band when you are thirteen. They are pretty intense musically, but would be a good fit to open for Hawk Nelson, not to mention, how cool would that be as a thirteen year old? So take thirty seconds and go here, scroll down to the bottom of the page and vote for Chasing Truth to open for Hawk Nelson.
Second is my friend Coury’s first solo project. Coury and I met on the MercyMe tour where he was in charge of the Compassion table. We ended up hanging out quite a bit and still occasionally get together for coffee or something. Coury’s new site just launched yesterday, and he’s giving away a few covers and some original stuff in anticipation for his record. In fact, for two bucks you can get five songs to check out. I really like Coury’s stuff. It’s got a really cool vibe and it’s different than anything else anyone is doing. Also Coury has a blog where he promises to be involved and update often. So head over to Coury’s new site and check out some cool new music you’ve never heard.
Anything new besides Coldplay that you are listening to? Whatcha’ got?

Once And Only Once
So check this out. My friend Kyle pointed out yesterday that over on the Crowder guys MySpace they have posted a few of the pictures that I took on the tour with them. Now, normally I wouldn’t condone clicking on any link that says the words “My” and “Space” together, but in this case I can make an exception.
It’s pretty cool to see the times that I decided to push a button on a camera have turned into something that they like and are using. They have about two-hundred photos so hopefully more pop up in the future.
There is also a little rumor floating around that several of the pics that I took will be featured in the DVD due out August 19th. Okay it’s not really a rumor. It’s true, and they said that they would send me some to check out. Maybe we can do a little giveaway thing on here like BooMama does.
So anyway. This time and this time only, head over to MySpace, log in several times, sign away your first born, be blasted with music starting, slowing down your browser, and crashing your computer, then check out some pictures I took.
Enjoy.
Dinner With A Guy Who’s Name I Can Never Pronounce
Okay, so maybe it’s not his real name, but his blog name and what he goes by on his blog is something that I can never pronounce. When I say it the word “Euphrony” is always followed up with an “or whatever” because I truly feel like an idiot saying it. Luckily I didn’t have to tonight.
We met Euphrony (or whatever) and his wife and kids at the only place that we meet anyone when they come to town, Mellow Mushroom. It’s pizza, which is good for kids, it’s loud, which is good for kids, and it’s casual, which is good for parents of kids, and for people who have only met on a blog. This marks the third “blog meeting” that Kristin and I have had as a couple, and we are starting to think it’s awesome that we can meet so many of you.
Anyway, Euphrony (or whatever) was awesome to hang out with and talk about gas prices and hot hot Texas is. I hope they have a safe trip back to Houston this week. I know we have talked about this before but how many blog people have you met? Like 100% met up because of a blog? And remember, if you are ever in Nashville it’s pizza time with us.
Two Things
- My friend Phil has a special announcement over at his blog if you haven’t seen it yet. There’s a lot more coming from him this week, but everything in due time.
- My friend Derek is launching an amazing new site today where artists can give away music and anyone with a website / blog / myspace ect, can also be a part of giving away great music. It’s called NoiseTrade and will be launched some time today.
I think there might have been more announcements, but I forgot them in the forty minutes it has taken me to calm down the kids enough so I could think enough to type this. So make sure you run over to Phil’s blog and check out his announcement and then check in on NoiseTrade and get some free music.
FeeBand Dot Com
Alright folks. I know it’s been a while, but we need your help again. Late last night we launched Fee’s new site and we need your help getting the word out. It starts here and I know a lot of you already are linking to the guys, but if you aren’t make sure to start sending people their way. Randy spent a lot of time and energy on this one over the past few weeks and I think it’s something pretty cool and different for the guys.
So head over there and say hi and don’t forget to link back. Thanks for helping get the word out.
It’s A Girl
Congratulations to Daniel and family for the new addition. Head over to Daniel’s site and welcome the new little girl. And buy his record while your at it. Diapers aren’t cheap.
