New Twitter Layout

So Twitter is rolling out this new layout. So far it’s not available to everyone, but from what I can tell this thing is going to be pretty sweet. And by pretty sweet, I mean, cool if I’m ever looking at Twitter.com for anything. What I’m hoping is that Twitter is using this as a stepping stone to creating a ‘TweetDeck-like’ desktop application that I can have sitting on my desktop. I’m sure it’s in the works.

Clearly there’s some cool stuff going on here though.  It’s taking Twitter.com to the next level for sure.  I love the idea of seeing responses and images all in one place.  I just don’t want to have to keep the website open all the time.

Anyway, how many of you look at Twitter at Twitter.com?  Do you think this will change the way you watch what’s going on with Twitter?  Good idea or pointless?

  1. That is exactly how I feel. I don’t want to have a window open all the time.
Now if it was a desktop app that would be a different story

  2. it hasn’t rolled out for me yet, but it looks super nice.

even so, i never use a browser when it comes to twitter. i use a desktop app (tweetdeck), have mobile on my phone (Twitter for blackberry) and have tweetdeck on an ipod touch too.

    why?

because i’m a lazy, lazy man. and usually one of those devices is RIGHT in front of me.

  3. Looking forward to it. I’ve pretty much given up on desktop apps – they all pretty much suck. Admittedly, though, it’s been awhile since I’ve tried one. I use echofon on my iPhone – and even that’s infuriatingly slow.

I tried it, but being old, I didn’t play with it! Now, I will go back and try it again. Watching the simple, but huge changes made it less overwhelming. Thanks! :)
