Ten Years In New York
August 5th Kristin and I will have been married ten years. What? Where did ten years go? Anyway, next week we’re taking a roundabout trip to New York to celebrate. Now, when I say roundabout, that means we are driving but we’re working our way there through North Carolina and Washington DC. Kristin has never been to any of these places and we’ve been working on this trip for a while. My parents have been awesome enough to come out and stay with the boys so we’ll have a little time to just take it in. Then for our actual anniversary day, we’ll be in New York. We’re still not sure of the details of what we are going to do there, but does it really matter?
So this next week we are tourists. I absolutely can’t wait to be with just Kristin for a couple days. For eight of these ten years we’ve had kids and not taken more than a couple hours to get away on a date. After eight years, I think we’ve earned it.
So what’s the absolute ‘must do’ stuff on the way to or in New York. I’ve been there a few times and we’ll do some of the tourist-y stuff, but anyone have any recommendations?

Hope u guys have fun!
Little Italy has amazing Italian food!
The place where they had hot chocolate in Serendipity!
Happy Anniversary!!! 10 years is great!!
It would definitely be beneficial to swing by Northern Virginia to have some lunch. We live just outside DC. Must see site!
Congratulations, Happy Anniversary!
In Washington, DC: We enjoyed spending an entire day just walking the entire perimeter of the National Mall area. You can make a big round trip on foot that includes the Capitol, Supreme Court, White House, Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, all the various war memorials, and many other sites in between. Lots of fascinating history, limitless variety of things to see everywhere there.
In NYC: We enjoyed taking the ferry out to see (and walk up the inside of) the Statue of Liberty. The same ferry then takes you over to Ellis Island, lots of fascinating history there. I think you can get tickets for the ferry/tour in advance online. If you want to hit some of the other touristy stuff, then you will also want to see Times Square, Central Park, Rockefeller Center, and the Empire State Building. Those are just the tip of the iceberg — even weeks and weeks wouldn’t really be enough to take it all in. But no matter, just enjoy whatever you can manage to get in with the time you have. Can’t really go wrong with NYC. Great place, we look forward to going back again at some point.
WOO HOO 10 years Awesome…Happy Anniversary to you both.
What a great town to spend it! There are LOTS of things to do but if I had to pick…go to the tkts booth at times square to save $$$ on your tickets and go to the theater (also standing in Times Square is cool just to take it all in ). You HAVE got to go to the theater whilst there.
Then Pizza of course would be up there in the top 5 . St. Patrick’s Cathdedral and the Empire State Building is also up there. FAO Schwartz toy store is neat and the high end department stores are fun to just browse. It is also just fun to people watch everywhere there. Go to a great restaurant…it is hard to find a bad one…
Things I would LIKE to do but haven’t there….Little Italy, Statue of Liberty, Chinatown, the museums and Central Park Zoo..I hope you guys have a blast! I know you will.
DC traffic is the pits…just FYI..
I don’t have any suggestions, but congratulations! Time flies. We are not far behind you… I’m glad you posted this; it got me thinking about planning something special for our Ten Year. I am sure you two will have a great time together! And the boys will enjoy their time with your parents, too. Win, win.
Happy Anniversary! Have fun on your road trip. If you’re on the east coast, you should stop at Rita’s Italian Water Ice and get some gelato.
I have an idea! You should visit the Cool Fam (:
What better way to show your love to your devoted wife than to spend it with people that you’ve never met before? Us!
