A friend of mine sent me this guys name the other day as something that I should check out.  He mentioned that he was an artist in the ‘painting’ sense as well as the ‘writing and playing music sense’ and that I should take a look.  It took me a couple days, but when I did get around to checking out his stuff, I found myself focussing more on his artwork than on his music.  I took a rabbit trail to this site and ended up fascinated by it.  It really is pretty amazing stuff.

Then a few days later I realized that I should probably check out his music too.  And here we are.  The next featured artist on the old ‘Music You’ve Never Heard’ section.  Again, pretty amazing stuff.

Now, I didn’t really get permission to play his song on my blog, but I figure if every one of you go buy his record on iTunes, he’ll forgive me.  Plus he’s playing this song on his Myspace so I think it’s okay…. but you really should go buy it.

Now, I don’t know much about this guy, except that he’s local and eventually I’d like to grab a coffee or something with him, but I’ve never communicated with him so we’ll see.  In the meantime, enjoy and go check out more of his stuff.

And while we’re here discussing ‘Music You’ve Never Heard’, hit me up with some music I’ve never heard.  What are you listening to, that we’ve never heard?

Ready?  Go.

  1. I’m a big Scott Phillips fan! I heard him play a number of years ago in my University days… Great stuff!

  2. I really like the words to this song.

  3. hey i gotta music you never heard nominee. mike hirst his site is http://www.hirstmusic.com and has a myspace page too. check it out ….all self wrote and producted and recorded…awesome stuff!

  4. That guy is really cool. Great music and great artwork.

  5. I like this band named MercyMe… you should check them out sometime….

seriously though, i can’t think of anyone. Have you heard JJ Heller??? That’s the only one I have that’s a question mark.

There is a local band from Houma, La named Crave that I like a lot. I got a cd the last time I saw them, but they had run out of cds, so I really just got a copy of their cd, and I don’t think it’s out to buy online or anywhere. They do have one online, but that’s not the one I like.

Some older bands I like are Church of Rhythm, Dime Store Prophets, and Dear Ephesus,

Among newer bands, I like Danyew, David Walker, Future of Forestry (also liked them as Something Like Silas), Jake Smith, Jason Allen Rich, Jeff Johnson, NewWorldSon, and Seven Stories Up

  6. I also discovered Matthew Mayfield and Serena Ryder on the Needtobreathe tour.

Also, if she’d ever put out an album, Chanel Campbell is amazing. So is Sleeping At Last…

so if you don’t know some of those bands… then that’s who I recommend

  7. Sometimes I find the music you put on here not my kinda thing, but these words are mesmerizing. “everyone who killed the Man, were the target of His Love”. Powerful. Simple. I even like the percussion sounds hiding behind other percussion sounds. “everywhere I that I’ve yet to be, the Lamb is sure to go”. Makes the nursery rhyme come to life! Thanks.

    :)
