Up Up And Away
So any of you that are following me on Twitter know the morning that I’ve had, and are probably sick of hearing about this, but for the rest of you here’s some pictures from my day so far.
This morning Jonny Diaz was scheduled to play at a church about 2 or 3 hours from the venue that we are playing at tonight. The only way to make that possible was to fly with a guy in their church who had is own plane. Yep. Awesome.
So about an hour flight there and an hour flight back in the smallest, go-cart, feeling thing I’ve ever been in, only it was about 4,000 feet off the ground. Again. Awesome. Jonny even got to fly the whole way back.
Now it’s back to work and time to get ready for the show tonight. Great experience this morning.
Anyone ever been on a plane like this one? What’d you think?

So cool! =D Thanks for sharing
Yeah! those are great. My family owned one when I was growing up, my dad was a pilot. It was sweet to be able to pile in and fly from KS to Chicago in an afternoon. I want to learn to fly and get one of those when I can find the time and money.
I was a parachute rigger in the Army, 94 to 98. After I got out, but pre-wifey, I had a chance to skydive Rome GA out of a Cessna. Compared to big ‘ol C-130′s, I was never so happy to jump out of a plane.
I have. A couple of times. A little larger, though. Loved sitting in the co-pilot seat! Glad you both are safe & sound. Great pics. Again.
Speaking of pics. I know you wandered around last night doing the pic thing. Hope you will find time to share.
No, never. You were giving me a heart attack with those pics today. Glad you are safely on the ground again.
Shoving me in one of those would be about the same difficulty level as trying to shove a cat in a toilet.
Big planes, no problem. Twin engine King Airs, no problem. A tin can with a single propeller… problem.
I got to ride in a little bi-plane over Atlanta a couple years ago. It was pretty cool, ’til I started to get nauseus. Bleh.
But, rode in a helicopter a couple weeks ago and LOVED that! I’d do that again in a heartbeat! I love to fly!
Ditto on Joe Grant’s response….Love all the tweets and Happy 4 ya that ypu enjoyed the experience, would you do it again? Or take the whole Harper crew?
Oh heavens yes! My dad also had his own plane. Every summer we packed up and the whole family (5) piled in to go visit extended family in Ark., somehow I always ended up in the back by our luggage, maybe it was b/c I was the youngest? I have wonderful memories of throwing up many times! I begged and begged for us to drive, however I never won. I was so happy when he sold it!
However, on a good note, I remember him taking my brother and for a jaunt around town and the area, we would always fly over our home. There are days when the clouds in the sky are beautiful and look like the ones I remember, and it brings back those childhood memories.
I missed all this today. How cool for you & Jonny!!!!
No, I’ve never been on one of those & don’t on it ever! I’ve had a couple relatives piloting small planes & they’ve both died in separate crashes. So, I’m anti-private planes.
My father in law has a pilot’s license. He took Ryan and I up for our anniversary a few years ago. We flew all over Auburn, saw Folsom Lake… flew right over my parents’ house! It was really fun.
Glad you are safely on the ground now; your mom was worried.
I’m VERY glad you made it back safely for the show. It was great to see you in person!
Thanks for connecting the name with the music. I tend to be picky but really like what Diaz has to offer. Quality, great crisp voice and looks to be a cool fella.
