EMI Event – Beauty Will Rise – Steven Curtis Chapman
So, what started out as a sort of ‘top secret’, radio promotion thing turned into a more public, ‘okay if everyone knows’, radio promotion thing. Which now gives me liberty to talk about it on here rather than say that it was some secret thing that you all don’t get to know about. Because I’m not that good at keeping secrets…. especially when it comes to doing things online.
So, anyway. This morning I was up at the EMI/CMG building broadcasting a special event with Steven Curtis Chapman. Basically it was an event that originally only radio folks were “invited” to, even though it was just Steven, some label people and us in a room together. The idea is for Steven to basically give the radio folks some insight into his new songs, the stories behind them and introduce them to the new record. Up until this point labels would just fly out a few select radio guys and the rest of the ‘team’ would have to stay in their offices in some part of the world and wait to hear how their boss’ trip was.
Well, props to EMI/CMG for thinking outside the box and making an effort to reach out to everyone in the radio scene and not just the bosses. Pretty cool plan eh? What’s where we come in. Looks like a ‘new division’ of SkörInc is born. A few cameras, some cables, and a little testing and here we go. We’re instantly reaching the entire world with Steven’s stories about this record…. And obviously some ridiculous stories they are. I guarantee there wasn’t a dry eye online or in the room we were sitting in hearing him talk.
So that’s the ‘secret mission’. Not so secret eh? And guess what? I have a feeling this is going to become a ‘thing’ and if I can help it, maybe it won’t have to be a secret next time either.
Anyone here catch the broadcast this morning?

So way cool! I am go excited for you! God is so blessing what you do! I am so proud of you.
I do have to work – and can’t always catch my twitter. Hate that work gets in the way sometimes – so I missed this one…and I am now a very chocolate needing – caffeine drinking sad person. Think you will replay? Or share somehow? Would love to hear SCC share – his stories are always so touching and thought provoking.
Anyways – you asked did we catch it…guess I should have just answered no. sniff sniff…..no sir.
Incredibly proud of you, son. Congrats. Never doubted your success for aminute !!!love you.
Mom
I missed it. It was like 6 am here when I saw it on twitter.
I missed it, but you know I was there in prayer. As of this very minute I am AT HOME on the computer. It has been a very long test of patience. And I survived. Grateful I have a stupid “smartphone”. It was a lifeline. It got very tiring driving 45 minutes to a Starbucks or Hastings for wi fi. Now I am on the “fiber-optics” internet highway.
I am so excited for another adventure Skorinc is taking me on! I pray you don’t get overwhelmed! I have seen so much of your dream blossom over the past year! This virtual world you are such a part of is exciting to all of your followers. Never dreamed of “meeting” the people I have met. We have such an awesome God!
Thanks, Brody, for taking us along for the ride.
I missed it. I did see your tweet on my phone, but it was snack time (Mm day- muffins and milk) and I don’t think the parents of my students would think a trip to the office to watch an online event would count as educational viewing.
As I said earlier man, this is very awesome indeed! I hated that I was at work and missed it but I appreciate the update (via Twitter) …. this is really awesome man, cannot wait to see what the “next level” is for Skorinc!!
Bless you.
I am not a morning person. I got the tweet as I was getting up and around in the morning, but by then it was too late–It was already 11:00 my time, a full hour after it started. This means I missed it =((( That means I was wondering all day what I had missed! Thanks for filling me on the secret =))) You know I would have been there if I wasn’t one of those people who slept in so late!
I watched… as you know! I thought it went very well, and was a really cool new thing! His songs, and explination of his songs were heart wrenching. I am looking forward to hearing his album.
Ah, that would explain why it was “secret” and not announced until an hour before-hand. Cool. Keep ‘em thinking outside the box!
I’ve seen a lot of concerts, even ones that you’ve been at Brody and I’ve never been more inpressed then by Steven C. Chapman.
It was at Spirit West Coast on the main stage. He walked out on stage with his guitar and a chair. He went on to share about his family and then play great music. I had seen newsboys make something like 10 costume changes, and Audio A swing their long hair in circles, so when it Came to S.C.C. it was a little simplier. And simple had an effect on my that night that I still share 13 or something years later. Its because of this great evening with him that I will purchase anything that he puts out. Glad it went well for you Brody.
You are the next behind the scenes guy for everyone!
