Closet Hip Hop Fan
I’m a closet hip-hop fan. No, seriously. I love it. I like the ‘swagger’. I like the beats. I like the way it makes your head lean back and forth. I like it all. Well, okay, I might not like it all, because I don’t like the fact that 90% of good hip-hop can’t be played in the car while my kids are there, but other than that it’s pretty awesome.
Now if you were to ask anyone around me what ‘my music’ was, it most definitely wouldn’t be hip-hop. I mean let’s face it, I don’t even really know if there’s supposed to be a hyphen between the hip and the hop. Most likely there’s not, but I’m geeky enough to put it there…. definitely not very hip-hop of me.
But that’s what’s awesome about music. There is not right and wrong. There’s no ‘my opinion is better than your opinion’. You might hate hip-hop and I’m guessing most of you didn’t even watch the whole video, and that’s okay. Most likely what’s in your car right now isn’t something that I’d listen to.
And a quick side note, if you did stick around for the video, how ridiculous is that stage setup and video in behind him?
So here’s my question for you. What are you a closet fan of? Horror movies? Opera? Romance Novels? There’s something you’re afraid to say you love, and we want to hear it.
Ready? Go.
*PS – I have no idea what the deal is with the person behind Beyoncé at 4:19.

I do like to crank up some CREED every now and then.
I’m a good guy, I swear!
Disco.
Two things.
–Vampire Movies (not sissy one’s like Twilight)
–Listening to Suicidal Tendencies loud and for hours.
Sad, eh?
(Steve- we’ll talk about the Creed issue next breakfast meeting…)
Old standards,Dean Martin, Sinatra, love it.
I still like my classic rock. Styx and Supertramp my favorites.
Closet fan of… The Bangles.
You will not make me pick Brody Harper, I like Most Music, just depends on the day. I know I don’t care for Talking Heads or the Cars or that band that was so popular with a huge following that sings “This One Goes Out to the one I Love” oh yeah REM not likey so much…..However I LOVED the car dance
First things first. The person behind Beyonce is Lady Gaga. A quick YouTube search will show you that that outfit is par for the course when it comes to her. (although her songs should probably be listened to while not in the presence of children)
Rap is also one of my guilty pleasures. I, too, like the way it can make you bob your head and just generally feel like you have some sort of rhythm about you.
….oh. And I am a closet fan of the new Miley Cyrus song.
Don’t judge.
What am I a closet fan of?? Don’t know–I am pretty much a what you see is what you get kinda person. If you know (or followed me) for very long you figure out what I like and don’t like, I don’t hide it. If you don’t know I like/dislike something it’s because the subject didn’t come up, not because its “in the closest”.
Brody: Get a grip on yourself and all of this hip-hop junk (lol). I agree that there is something hypnotic about the beat and it might even be entertaining without words as a background beat at a party. But given I have three children hip-hop is not played in the car nor is it played in the house. There are too many ‘Parental Advisory’ stickers on the CD’s.
What am I a closet fan of…I am a big fan of country, christian, and classic rock. If there is a ‘closet’ classification for me it would be my daughters’ music…Hanna Montana, Lady Gaga, Carie Underwood. When I permit them to listen in the car I have to admit to don’t totally hate all of it. There I confessed!
ps. My favorite hip-hop artist is the only hip-hop artist I have ever seen; John Ruben…What are you dippidy doin’? (Thanks to the 2009 Raodshow)
Gotta confess – KISS fan

Kelly Clarkson. not just Kelly Clarkson, but doing my best air-vocals to Since U Been Gone any time it comes on.
…and by ‘any time it comes on’ i mean ‘whenever i select it on my ipod.’
Hair bands, old country, and, oh mylanta, Clay Aiken.
There I said it….it’s always better in the light, right? His Christmas CD is sitting between Abby Road and Pet Sounds ….uggh…Pretty sure I just lost major cool points. Alas…
Cheezy chick pop music. Miley Cyrus, Kelly Clarkson, Pink, etc.. (but not Britney. She gets on my nerves)
Justin Timberlake. (it’s just so catchy).
NerdCore Hip-Hop.
I wouldn’t say I’m a “closet” fan of anything… There’s a lot of stuff I should probably be ashamed to admit I’m a fan of, but that’s the stuff I enjoy admitting to liking the most. Like I like Taylor Swift, I like “The Climb” by Miley Cyrus. I like chick music, like Eisley and Katie Herzig. I like chick movies. Yeah, I like dude stuff too, but I enjoy a lot of chick stuff.
it’s lady gaga behind beyonce…
