Stock In Ritalin?
Now, over the years I’ve taken a lot of flack for hating Sponge Bob. Chris even has been giving me grief about my Tweet concerning Sponge Bob, but here’s the thing. Chris doesn’t have kids that bounce off the walls and scream their heads off after watching it. The only person getting hyper after watching that show is Chris and his wife has to deal with that. Don’t get me wrong, I think there’s something to be said for a cartoon that has lasted as long at Sponge Bob has and the marketing team behind the franchise is doing a great job selling product and keeping it going and all, but here’s the deal. It wouldn’t surprise me one bit if the creators or “owners” of Sponge Bob had considerable amounts of stock in the children’s A.D.D. medication Ritalin.
Now hear me out on this. My kids watch some of the most weird annoying cartoons out there too. In fact at this very moment my four year old is sick watching Yo Gabba Gabba. Could there be a weirder show? But at least there’s some musical influence and Jack Black is on it occasionally. But Sponge Bob? Seriously? That is pure annoyance. Pure, unfiltered, hyper, drive you mad, annoyance. Am I wrong?
Yesterday Blue went to the dentist and got a new toothbrush. Last night before bed as he was brushing his teeth he told me that the dentist had a Sponge Bob toothbrush but he didn’t pick that one because he knew I didn’t like him. Good boy.
So, let’s hear it. What cartoon do you absolutely despise?
**Disclaimer – This is a joke and I don’t really think that Sponge Bob’s creators and owners own stock in Ritalin and I also I recognize the seriousness of A.D.D and don’t think it’s a joke necessarily. Does that get me away from any legal ramifications of this post?**
I really don’t like 2 stupid dogs (real title) or catdog. No, it’s not that I don’t like dogs, I just think the shows are annoying. On the flip side, my favorite cartoon character is not Spongebob, but Cheese from Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends which was sadly canceled.
I have personally fantasized about inflicting bodily harm upon that purple *#@%&?/ Barney…and I don’t even have any kids! Please let me know if you’d like the specifics. My imagination is quite vivid and my plan is awesome!
Now, should this post draw an indictment for you, I would be honoured to act as a witness for the defense. And the smart Christian in me knew enough to keep my Dream Team of lawyers on retainer…you know…just in case (;-)

They were in the creation phases of it when our wedding was and we got to see some cool stuff….now to see it actually in production and kids gobbling it up is crazy.

The cartoon I can’t stand is Family Guy….I know that’s an adults cartoon, but NEVER could I watch that and be seriously interested!
Pokemon, Bakugan, or any other ‘cartoon’ that brainwashes my kids into spending all their own money collecting cards, stickers, or anything of that nature.
Spongebob rules.
I found Spongebob when it was a few seasons old so I had to rent the DVDs so I could catch up on the running plot.
Took me about 3 days to catch up.

I can’t stand Spongebob. Stupid humor such as is found on that show annoys the daylights out of me. My kids watch it because my husband lets them. Enough said on THAT topic. Then again, my girls are 10, 13, and 14 and their bouncing off the wall days are pretty much over. They’re more into watching XMen Evolution than Spongebob though, so I guess it’s ok.
My favorite current cartoon is Phineas and Ferb. I like Kim Possible too.
I thought I was the only person on Earth that despised the sarcasm and hyperactivity that Songe Bob “teaches”. And he is EVERYWHERE. Sorry Owners/Creators I don’t mean to be a “Hater” but that show truly Drives me nuts. I tried to watch it with an open mind and the more I watched the more I couldn’t get it.
Max and Ruby sometimes gets to me too as my 4 year old sometimes uses one word “sentences” like Max. Just plain annoying….
I like the music part of Yo Gabba Gabba and it is kinda cool and retro (being an 80′s girl I can dig it). Right now the boys like Wow Wow Wubzy which I find myself with the little song clips in my head while doing daily tasks so I guess I like that one the most. And the charaters all seem to be nice to each other to boot as I try to promote that between the two of them. As you probably well know they don’t need any disagreement promotion (aka “Why would you think it is okay to bite his face”) ….

My niece makes me watch cartoons every now and then. I can’t stand any of the anime ones. actually i’d prefer spongebob over the other stuff that’s usually on. i did like that monster/foster home one though.
I don’t like any cartoon that makes the parents look like idiots. I can’t think of the names of them… but that’s cause we don’t watch them!
I am in the minority, because I can’t believe “The Simpsons” has lasted this long! D’OH! I so dislike that family. Today’s society already has enough dysfunctional families. We don’t need the Simpson’s, too.

I dislike anything animated, but have a severe distaste for the purple dinosaur. He’s not allowed in my house….EVER. Yes, I love you and you love me, but veins pop out of my neck if we have to be a happy family….know what I mean?
Just because I sing the theme song doesn’t mean I like Sponge Bob! My kids aren’t supposed to watch it. They haven’t been obedient in that area. TV is about to go!
I don’t like any show that makes the father look like an idiot or the kids are a bunch of smart mouths. Which leaves out most of the shows that my kids can watch.
I cant stand that purple dinosaur-though he doesn’t technically qualify as a “cartoon”, and Spongebob is simply an annoyance. My child is not allowed to watch it either. The reality is I cannot stand any show that exists simply to make our children stupid, disrespectful, rude, or bad consumers.
I was thinking of you and this topic to day as I got ready. I don’t like SB because of the words he uses and how he talks to his “friends”. I really am not that kind of mom. I have few rules but for some reason this is one. I think once I heard him say Idiot and told my kids to turn it off, end of story. Anyways we were flying home from CA and the plane had individual tv’s. The show that came on the kid channel was SB. Sohaila asked if she could watch it if she turned she did not wear her head phones. She is brilliant and I agreed! H
not sure if is even on the air anymore, but when kiddo was little, one on pbs called boohbah. made teletubbies look like rocket scientists
Yeah, it’s got to be those creepy teletubbies… I’ve never watched it, I don’t even know if they’re still on; but they straight creep me out.
