You guys remember All Star United don’t you? I’ve loved these guys for what seems like forever and they have popped on and off the radar several times since.  My friend Brian was/is in this band and that makes it all the more favorable to me.  But when it comes down to it I think it’s the blatant sarcasm that I love when it comes to the lyrics.  I’m a sucker for the tongue-in-cheek, if you haven’t noticed. Either way, this was my running music today and I loved it…. until I almost threw up because I was, you know… running.

Now, I’m not sure what these guys are up to right now, and I’m sure a couple Google searches would clear things up for me, but today I was reminded of them and wanted to share. Anyone out there remember these guys or know what they are up to now? I suppose I could just call Brian, but it’s more fun to start a discussion on here.

I don’t listen to them anymore – I heard they say “bad” words in their songs.

  2. They all became super heroes, which is why they dropped of the face of the earth. They needed to have less-famous cover lives. You probably won’t find this information anywhere, it is kind of confidential.

I love me some All Star United. :) they’re awesome!

They’re still around. Air 1 was playing the song Jesus on the Radio a lot last year, which is off of their newest (I think) release. That same disc has a song called Song of the Year, which I like a lot for its tongue-in-cheek lyrics.

  4. I was going to say that ASU released an album not too long ago, but apparently that was in 2007 (HOLY CRUD, where does the time go?!!). But they may have something else in the works… and I highly doubt Ian Eskelin has sat still for more than 5 minutes in his life…

Are they even a Christian band anymore?

  6. I am afraid I must invoke my “MYNH” defense. But, if Kyle’s mind is on track, I like his vision of what happened to them. :)

JesusFreakHideout is reporting that they are releasing an album this summer, only in the UK though.

I know All Star United just released a new project called “The Good Album”this month. I saw it’s available on iTunes, but I don’t know if it’s in stores yet.

There’s a pretty funny video someone posted of one of their new songs on youtube. It looks like a homemade fan thing, but pretty funny all the same. As is the song: “Dude…That’s Freaking Awesome!!!”
