I grew up camping in Northern California, and before kids Kristin and I would go backpacking and camping as often as we could. Since moving to Nashville we’ve only had one camping trip and I’m sure most of you remember it. Now, this year I hope to find a little more of a desirable place to camp and take the family out. I love it. I love being out in the middle of nowhere. I love waking up in a tent, staying up next to a fire, and all that dirty, camping stuff.
Now, I know it’s a pretty even split of folks who either love camping or hate it, and I’ve already taken a quick Twitter poll, but I thought I’d follow it up on here. So let’s hear it. Camping or No Camping?

Camping all the way. Backpacking is the best. There is nothing like hiking to middle of nowhere with the intention of staying. It is the best way to unplug from life for a while.
Sadly I have not done it in a while either.
After going back & reading about last years adventure, I totally think it ought to be an annual thing. To the hillbilly trailer park and it’s 1 tee-pee! Thanks for the smile. +
I used to like it pretty well – now I’ll will do it given the right circumstances. I’d rather be cold than hot. My girls want to go so bad that it is killing them…
I love camping! I haven’t been camping since I took my then girlfriend, now wife camping 4 years ago next week…Needless to say we need to go, and that is just what we are going to do when we visit Auburn, Ca next month. And just to make sure things are clear…camping does not involve motor homes or cabins of any kind. Hey good ole open air of NorCal! Here come the hicks.
LOVE camping.
I especially like a lad’s only trip. It’s where the guys really relax. Open up and share things not normally shared. Smoke a few cigars. Sip a few beers. Fish on the river bank. That’s my kind of trip right there.
I grew up camping and always loved it. There’s something just awesome about going back to nature. Every 4th of July we would go down to Encenada and camp on the beach. We haven’t done that in a while and I quite miss it.

i really like camping. kiddo likes the _idea_ of camping, but hates the actual experience of being camping after the first night. thus we don’t go that often, and tend to end up in places like percy priest that are within 5 minutes of civilization.
I love to camp, but my husband isn’t so fond of it. Our gilrs enjoy it though. I’ll have to go read about your trip

OK. . . I am going to be the voice of reason here. Has all this traveling made you forget how hot and humid it is in Tennessee in the summer? HOTEL AND AIR CONDITIONING, please!!
Well, I like to fish, hike, kayak, canoe, build a bonfire, bird watch and be all ABOUT the outdoors during the day BUT at night and sleepin’, I’d have to opt for the Hilton for a comfy bed, indoor plumbing and a shower. Maybe I’m a princess but I would encourage the boys to go camping I’d be in the spa but I love to check out the pics and hear all about it and what fun it was.
We simply love to camp man, and its something that we like to do constantly … and it is the one time when I am just able to relax for basically free. As a matter of fact, we are hoping to sell out boat (read:hole in the water that I pour money into) next weekend at our garage sale and then go purchase a pop-up camper (I had one as a kid and I love those things) … of course, it must have an air conditioner cause Alabama is not fat-boy friendly when it comes to humidity at night. (HAHA) At any rate, camping is a big plus here man … a big plus indeed.

I love to camp. We haven’t been in a long time though. Nothing tastes better than food cooked over an open fire or in a dutch oven. Camp fire stories are the best. I also love to wake up in the morning to the sounds of nature. It’s a great reminder of God’s love for His creation.

Camping, love to do it. We do it as often as possible. Just came home yesterday from one trip and counting down (11 days) until our next trip.
Brody, Brody, Brody… Camping is a must when in CA… Camping is a no in the South. UNLESS you go during the fall. But I still am not sure if I could bring myself to do it after having the Sierra’s as our back yard. Maybe we can plan a fall two family thing. H
