3.0

iphone-os-3

So I got it.  I noticed a couple cool things.  The obvious.  Copy and Paste.  Another cool thing, is the Area Code recognition.  So now when someone from 815 calls me I know where that is instead of asking the people around me where 815 is.  I like that.  Other than that I haven’t really had a chance to ‘dive in’ to all the glory that is 3.0.

Now, I heard that there were a ton of updates, and it’s a really big deal and I should know more about it, but I don’t.  And I also know there are a ton of iPhone nerds that read this blog, so here’s the thing.  What updates are you most excited about?  What should I know about that I probably don’t?  There’s got to be more than Copy and Paste.

Ready?  Go.

  1. integrated battery percentage now on the statusbar = win

  2. I will tell you in a few days, I’m getting the new iPhone 3G-S tomorrow, looking forward to finally having an iPhone

Search. From your main screen, flip one page to the left and you’ll see your search screen.

Email multiple pictures. Love this one.

    MMS…when we finally get it.

Recent calls now shows WHICH phone your contact called from. Always hated trying to figure that out when my Mom/sister called.

  4. I like having landscape texting. Still looking around for my fav new feature.

Joshua, where do you see or configure that battery percentage?

  5. Autofill! No more having to type Name/Email/Url for every blog comment! It seems like the OS is a bit faster in general too!

  6. :( I don’t even HAVE an iphone yet. I kind of feel like Rudolph (without the red nose.) I can’t join in any iphone games. Sad.

  7. i have a blackberry.

    like a hobo.

  8. “Hey iPhone, what song are you playing right now?”

    “No Air, by Jordin Sparks”

    “I love you, iPhone!”

    “I love you too, Evan”

  9. Honestly, there is something new around every corner. I love the little touches like you said about the area code. also, you know which phone (home, work, mobile) a contact is calling from. I love cut and paste (didn’t think I would). I love that you can push your home button and it take you back to the first screen. So much!

And @LisaMongold This isn’t perfect, but it could keep you entertained for a while :)

  10. I’m the same as you. I knew about the search and the landscape texting, and that recorder/memo thingy. I didn’t even know about the area code though. I guess I should look into it.

  11. I’m so happy about being able to email more than one photo @ a time! Does anybody know if you can text a photo to someone?

Other than that, I restored my iphone & lost all my numbers so I haven’t really played with it. Seems to be working great now after the toilet plunge it took!

@lisamongold You really should get one! You’ll love it!

  12. Amy

@Pokinatcha FYI you can email only up to 5 pictures at once. You’ll be able to text a photo to someone some time later this summer when AT&T decides to play nice.

I’m scared to update!! Last time I lost everything!!!

  14. Paisley

I plan to get an iphone as soon as my current plan expires, I think in August. My current phone is a RAZR.

  15. Btw, MMS in 3.0 works very nicely in Australia. Just so you know…

  16. It doesn’t prove you’re a geek… It proves you’re a mac-addict… No offense :)

Landscape keyboard in SMS, and email, plus global search, and email search, and the famous cut-and-paste all make me very, very happy. The update also seems to have made my phone a little faster.

The graphic designer in me likes the subtle changes to some of the icons.

I will be even more happy when AT&T gets it together and rolls out MMS and tethering.

I already had a third-party voice recording app, so voice memos wasn’t that big of a deal to me.

  18. So I just saw the new iphone commercial and it made me think of you. Ha. Is that weird? Lol!
