Sugarland Photo

Last night was the first night I stayed out front for some of Sugarland’s show. Typically I have photos to edit, and things to pack up when they start, but last night I hung out and watched the start of their show and about four songs. I’ve been watching the crew load in all this amazing production for the last few weeks and I’ve seen bits and pieces of their show and the production, lights and stage set up blows me away. I stuck around long enough to take some pictures before my camera battery died and this was one I got.

Now we are in Johnson City, TN. I’m sitting on the bus sorting through some things that have potential to make my brain a little more organized while I am out here and make things simpler for everyone involved. Which is a nice thing. We are still in the process of sorting out all the details of Billy’s web world, but I know it’s going to be great once it’s all taken care of.

Not much else going on out here. I wish I had more fun stuff to talk about, but it’s been pretty mellow and my brain is a little fried from this morning.

I’m curious.  What’s the most impressive concert you have ever been to production wise?  Best lights, stage set-up, video?

  1. Probably Keith Urban Love, Pain and the Whole Crazy Thing tour. I was on a high for a week that’s how rockin it was.

The light show was insane and the intensity in that room from the music and setup was something I will never forget!

  2. Garth, in his day, put on one heck of a show. Personality aside, he still had it going on with hydrolic drum risers that came up from sub-stage, ditto for a sweet white baby grand piano… vines to swing on, a 360 platform that gave him catwalk access all around the stage, his own personal spotlight to engage the crowd with, etc, etc, etc. And all this back in the 90′s

  3. Eric Johnson. Small little dive bar in Texas. Just a club gig. He walked out and delivered. No flashy stuff needed. Another great one was Asleep at the Wheel. (a little country swing band along the vein of Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys.) Major chops out of all the musicians in that band. And last but not least, Chris Ledoux and the Western Underground at Billy Bob’s in Fort Worth, Texas – it was a new years eve and he had Jerry Jeff Walker on the bill as well. Three killer shows that I’m glad to say that I caught.

    pretty much every connersvine concert…ever!

  5. I used to go to a lot back in the day. I can’t remember which was the best production it’s not important to me. These days I’m just happy if anyone comes out here & plays.

    Love the photo!

  6. Great picture. I have no idea. I really haven’t seen a stage set that has blown me away.

  7. You know. I think the best concerts are the ones that are a little light on the lights and such.

The concerts that throw a rug on stage and some candles and such and give it the feel that you are in that artist’s living room.

It is intimate and removes that barrier between artist and audience, in my opinion.

I would have to say Garth Brooks. Saw him in his final concert of the final tour, in College Station at Texas A&M. It was quite the party atmosphere and he delivered a show with unmatched energy! Amazing.

  9. probably Metallica a few years ago, but I’m expecting big things from U2 in Croke Park, Dublin, this July… gonna be awesome

Sigur Ros !! by far the best show ever..nothing has even come close. not the takk tour but the one before.

  11. hands down…..coldplay in atl!

  12. Genesis back in the 80′s. Rocked the house and the light show was really cool!
