Too Short To Sleep
I should either be home or asleep right now. Or both. However, I am neither, because I am still on the bus headed home. See, Huntsville, AL is too close to home to go to sleep, but had I known that we weren’t going to leave until 1:30 in the morning, I would have been asleep by 10:30. So here I am, editing pictures, and watching Desperado waiting to get closer to home so I can get my things together to get off the bus.
Tonight was a pretty interesting show. As you can see, it rained the entire time. We were at a military base outside of Huntsville, and there was an unbelievable amount of people that showed up. Obviously it was an outdoor show and the rain was coming down tough. There is something cool about the energy of a crowd that has come to terms with the idea that they are soaked and miserable, so they just dig in and have fun. I’m sure the several beer stands around also had something to do with it, but either way it was fun to watch.
So here we are about seventy miles from home and I’m excited to sleep in my actual bed tonight. It was a short run, but I’m still glad to be home. Tomorrow will consist of hanging out with Kristin and the boys and watching basketball. Oh yeah.. and I will try to get a Stats Suck Sunday post this time.
Anyone ever been to an outdoor show in the rain like tonight?

I have, and as you say, once you come to grips with the cold, wet feeling, you can let it all go and have fun. My experience comes from the many festivals I’ve gone to (Creation East) over the years. You are there to camp and rock out. Everyone is dirty, sweaty, and if it does rain, you’re all in the same boat. For me, I love the feeling that the playing field is leveled. No one else cares if I look like a drowned rat, cause they do to. Good times! I really want to go to at least one festival this summer, because I love it!
YES.
One of the best nights I’ve ever had.
I saw James Morisson, Ben Folds and John Mayer at the Ford Amphitheater in Tampa, FL. They have a “lawn” section with cheaper tickets and no overhead.
Around halfway through Ben Folds’ set it started POURING. We tried to cover ourselves with our picnic blanket but were soaked in all of two seconds. And you’re exactly right–it was either be soaked and miserable or be soaked and dance the night away. We chose the latter, and it was so much fun.
