Glow Sticks
So, Sugarland hands out glow sticks to everyone that comes to the show and there’s a section of the night where several people are asked to come up on the stage and wave them around. Every light in the arena is turned off and eventually the entire crowd starts waving around their glow sticks. It’s a pretty amazing sight, that’s for sure.
Well, last night Billy’s band talked me in to going out on the stage with them to dance and wave these glow sticks around like idiots. It’s dark, so not that big of a deal, right? Well, there is the fact that I don’t dance and I don’t really like people looking at me. I ended up looking more like someone directing an airplane, but it was still cool to go out there and see the entire place light up with orange glow sticks. Apparently they do this every night so I’m going to have to bring the video camera out there one of these days.
All in all the first day was great. Pretty mellow, but we were able to get some stuff in order and start moving in the right direction as far as Billy’s web stuff. Today we are in Beaumont, TX. It’s still hot and gross, but I’ve decided to make my office the bus today, and Samuel L. Jackson and Tommy Lee Jones are keeping me company. (Guess the movie). Tonight isn’t a Sugarland show, so things are a little different, and Billy doesn’t play until 10:30 or so. Should be a late night, but so far it’s been good.
What’s your Saturday looking like?

You are such a tease! Got me all excited to see you on stage! Glad it’s going well, except for the lovely Central & East Tx humidity.
Saturday. Well, my cleaning lady went to Mexico to be with her dying mother (cancer-not swine flu) so guess who gets to take a shot at it? Yeah, the old, overweight, bad-back lady that lives here. Fun. Wish I was going with Lisa on the Music Boat! I just know Bart & Joel are thinking “stalker”! I told her she needs to find Mark, too. In 2 Saturday’s my little girl graduates from college (along with Mark’s wife). She really needs to find a job…..
Have a great Saturday. Hope you get home soon.
We will be anxiously awaiting that video, Brody!
Oh, forgot:
guess — Rules of Engagement?
Saturday — down time, pool time, church softball. Go CPBC!
um. this isnt a video.
Folk-rockin’ a Military Appreciation Day festival at Bishop Museum in Honolulu is what I’ll be doing Saturday. No glow sticks though… it’ll be daylight anyway.
Saturday? Staying in from the rain, working on blogs, and watching the Celtics (hopefully) put away Da Bulls.
Movie = Rules of Engagement — have not watched it. What do you think of it?
Per Saturday? I’m still on Friday about 11pm. We went out to evangelize, then I was blessed hearing MercyMe being played at the mall.
God is SO good!! I am hoping my Saturday will be mostly R&R but we shall see because there may be hiking (depending if it rains) and conference…
God bless and keep you all!
Saturday: Hanging with the kiddo….we get to do what he wants to do. Watch Phineas and Ferb, play lots of Mario Kart and build him a new track configuration for his GeoTracs.
Saturday= a little house scrubbing, a free craft time at Michael’s for my girls, a track meet and some weed pulling between raindrops in prep for our new garden! Hope you can nap and make up for bad bus sleep! Thanks for the updates! Sounds like fun so far!
The glow stick thing sounds neat, btu I have to say seeing you up on stage “dancing” w/ your glow sticks sounds like a show all in itself. Lol!
Movies were as follows – X-Men Origins Wolverine (liked it quite a bit but, I dig the X-Men movies so I figured I would), Ghosts of Girlfriends Past (ehh – so, so), and Obsessed (creepy, but pretty good. Kinda Hand that Rocks the Cradlish).
This weekend I got a break from the 4 kiddos and did a long run, speedwork, church, and saw three new movies. Yea me!
