Airplane Soundtracks
So, this morning Mac Powell, of Third Day and deep voice fame, Twittered that he was on an airplane and was hearing our good friends Addison Road playing over the speakers. I immediately thought about their current single “Hope Now”. A great song for sure, but I’m not so sure that as you are sitting down on an airplane you want to hear the words, “everything rides on hope now”. But maybe that’s just me.
Now, that gave me an idea for a post today, and since my other idea for a post was going to be complaining about something that’s been bugging me for a while now, I figured I’d go with this one to keep things ‘light’.
So here we go. The challenge today is this.
What song (lyrics or title) do you least want to hear when you are getting on an airplane?
Seems pretty simple right? And trust me, it’s better than me hopping up on my soapbox and complaining…. at least today.

Leaving on a Jetplane is my least favorite when I fly. This song reminds me of how sad it is to have to say goodbye to the people we love so much.No matter where we are going there is no place like home!
“American Pie”
“Coming in on a Wing and a Prayer”
“Learn to Fly” (mostly because of the video)
Ring of Fire was the first thing that popped to mind.
Bon Jovi’s “Blaze of Glory”
Oh, and for more than one reason, Sugar We’re Going Down
Free Fallin’ by Tom Petty
MercyMe’s “Alright”
Relient K’s “Down in Flames”
Tom Petty “Learning to Fly (But I ain’t got wings…)”
Any version of “Just the Two of Us” when you’re in a smaller plane with only window or aisle seats stuck next to a sweaty, broad-shouldered dude.
Any Journey song…ever.
“Fire and Rain” by James Taylor
‘gold digger’ – kanye
“So long, Self” by Mercyme
Frankly, the first thought to mind was, “I don’t know.” It did not answer the question but nothing really comes to mind that I least like, perhaps because I love flying and I was told have flown since in my mother’s tummy. What can I say?!
Great question though.
“The Final Countdown.”
The first song that popped into my mind was, Space Oddity by David Bowie. That song is just creepy.
Lol. I love the way your funky (yet incredibly gifted and creative) mind works, Brody. This question made me laugh.
I think I might go w/ “Free Fallin’.” Though admittedly, not a whole lot of thought has gone into this on my end.
