Tonight’s The Night
See those red seats? That’s where Kristin and I will be tonight for The Dove Awards. Not bad seats eh? Of course neither Kristin or I know how to really act at these kinds of things. Mostly because we don’t go to these kinds of things… and there’s the fact that we don’t really know how to ‘dress up’. And there we will be. Smack right in the middle.
We are both really excited to get to go. I’m probably more excited for Kristin to go than I am excited myself. She rarely gets to do cool things like this without juggling the boys at the same time. So tonight the boys are staying with Kristin’s dad, and we’re looking at it as a ‘date night’ of sorts.
Last year was my first time at the Doves and I was sort of taken back by the whole thing. A lot of people like to make fun of it or whatever and that’s fine. But growing up paying attention to everything music, including Christian music and knowing about all the folks I was sitting in a room with was pretty fascinating. That was last year. This year it blows my mind that Kristin and I will be sitting with them, and to be nominated, again, just kind of weirds me out.
I’m excited to be able to see Natalie and MercyMe perform, I’m excited that Kristin will get to experience it, I’m excited to see some friends, and I’m excited to see what happens with this whole ‘fluke nomination’ thing. Here goes nothing huh?
Will you quit calling it an accident! You were nominated because you ARE an artist. Your eye for photography is beautiful and you are making a name for yourself in the name of God and the message is clear. The pics are clear and real. Have fun!
P.S. I hope you have to crawl over all those peeps to get out when they announce your name!
Brody, how many times do we have to tell you what you bring to us fans? i know Kristin is your biggest fan and that helps you do what you do sooooo good! us fans love your heart and your love for the Lord. you make these artists available to the fans and we feel like we’re a part of the family, even though we could be hundreds of miles from the concert site. i’ll be watching for you guys, and wish you all the best! wish we could vote for you. maybe next year? enjoy tonight. i have to work, so i’m taping and will watch when i get home in the morning before i see the news or twitter.
It’s SOOOO exciting. I love that you’re so happy that Kristin gets to go. And I think I have an inkling how Kristin might feel (maybe?). Ryan and I recently got to see a movie on the big screen that he has a small part in (and actually worked a lot on behind the camera), and it was THRILLING for me to be there to support him and see the fruit of his labor. And to see a packed-full theater of other people that came to see it, too. They weren’t all there for Ryan, but it felt like they were. he he!
I hope you guys have a really good time together. I think it’s a wonderful date night!!!

Those are pretty sweet seats! I’m glad we know where you’re sitting. Now when the cameras show the audience I’ll know where to look. I’m guessing you won’t be wearing your grungy, old hat as this is a “dress up” event, so I might not recognize you though. Especially with all your hair gone. Have an amazing time!
