The New AddisonRoad.com
Alright folks. It’s that time again. SkörInc would like to welcome our newest online friends, Addison Road. So here’s the deal. I need your help spreading the word about the brand new AddisonRoad.com. Seriously, steal that picture above and blog about it, I won’t even call it stealing. But just tell everyone you know about it. Sound good?
I’m really excited to see what these guys are going to come up with as far as content goes. They’ve been really active online already and I’m thrilled to be a part of allowing then to take their online presence to another level. I’m also really excited to be out on the road with them on The Rock & Worship Roadshow. It’s going to be a great time of focusing on this whole ‘online interaction’ thing, so make sure to subscribe to all the things they have going on.
So who’s ready to spread the word? Litter the World Wide Interwebnet with the cheers of Addison Road. Ready? Go.
We’re Headed South
Originally the plan was to leave this morning early, but a couple plans changed and we are still here for another day. Which is cool to me because I get to hang out a little more with my parents and more specifically didn’t have to get up at four this morning. So the plan now is to leave tomorrow before the sun and head south. Looks like the southern route is going to be the easiest way avoiding any weather or weather that was left behind from last week. Sure Southern California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas are pretty boring sates to drive thru, but I’m guessing we won’t need to put on chains anywhere. And we might stop at the Grand Canyon to throw a rock in or something.
So, now the question is, what’s awesome to do on this route besides the Grand Canyon? Anything?
TwitPay…. Maybe
Twitter crashed on me twice today. Twice. Once saying that it couldn’t even find my account and my username didn’t exist. It’s pretty frustrating when Twitter doesn’t work, but let’s face it. The only real consequence for me is that a bunch of people don’t get to hear what random thing I am thinking at that very moment. Which is really the case with everyone on Twitter…. Until now.
Ladies and gentlemen, TwitPay. At first I thought it was a joke with the reputation that Twitter has had for it’s lack of reliability. But no, it appears that it’s a real thing. You can now put your bank account in the hands of a year and a half old company that had a reputation of the constant screens of upside down birds with arrows in them. I think I’ll pass thanks.
Not to mention, I’m thinking that if you need to be sending money to someone, I’m not sure a micro-blogging platform is the best way to do that. I’m just saying.
Oh yeah, I’m still in California. Busy. Busy.
Positive Post Tuesday
It’s Tuesday. Well as most of you know, I’m up early and getting ready to catch a plane to California for a couple days. Really I will only be there for one day and then it’s the long haul back. And as many of you may disagree with me, that in itself is sort of a positive thing to me. I’m headed out there to help Kristin’s dad load up some of his things and bring them from the house he’s selling out there to his house out here, and I realized that I have never really told you about him on here. So here goes.
When Kristin and I met her dad was a pretty intimidating guy. He didn’t say much and I could tell the idea of a long haired guy with earrings and tattoos starting to date his daughter was not high on his ‘favorite things to do’ list. The first little bit of us getting to know each other was just that. Getting to know each other. I started to learn about his interests and he started to learn mine. Then when I started talking marriage his only question was “do you have a job?”. Fair enough. At that point I think there was still a little skepticism, but his openness to me and what Kristin wanted was stronger than his justified fear of me screwing things up pretty bad. After a couple years of still getting to know each other and living life as a family, I threw him another curve ball and told him that not only was I going to quit my comfortable, county job answering 911, but I was going to move his daughter and (at the time) two grandkids across the country to ‘work for a band’. He still managed to not point a gun at me or anything like that. Rather he supported what we thought was right and moved out to be next to us a year later.
All that to say, I’ve thrown him some pretty crazy things over the years and he’s dealt with them all in stride. That impresses me more than I could say and makes me even more happy that we have all boys. He’s a great father-in-law and amazing grandpa. I couldn’t have asked for better. So as I spend the next few days in the truck with Kristin’s dad, I thought I’d introduce you to him. And who knows, by the end of the trip he might have a blog and be on Twitter.
So, as most of you know today is Positive Post Tuesday. The rules are simple. Write something nice on your blog and join the party. This week Raquel is hosting the party at her place so head over there and join in. It’s time to make this thing massive so everyone needs to get involved. Ready? Go.
News 9 Article (And Beyond)
So, check this out. Kristy from Where’s My Damn Answer wrote up a nice little article for News9.com in Oklahoma City and oh, a hundred and forty-two other news stations, about blogging, me, and what SkörInc is doing. I don’t think I’ve ever done an ‘interview’ for a news website before, so thanks Kristy for making that possible. And thanks for the intimidation of sending something out to a hundred and forty-three news stations. What?!
Now, originally I wrote this post thinking that just Oklahoma was reading, but I have since come to find out that it’s much more than that. So naturally, I had an idea with no idea of how to pull it off. I talked to Kristy and then to Chris and now I think this idea just might work. Here’s the idea. Are you ready? It’s going to take some leg work.
We have a list of all of the stations featuring the article and their respective cities. Each station has a link, but not a specific link to the article. Your job? To find the article within your city’s (or closest city to you) site and Twitter the link to the article **Most likely it will be in the ‘Lifestyle’ or “Tech” section. Follow up the link with a #skorinc and your all set. Then go here to see them all listed. Sounds awesome right?
Ready? Go to the Station List.
Michael Smith & Associates
The newest member of the SkörInc family is a little different than some of the others that we work with but I’m really excited about it. Michael Smith manages several artists, has two different record labels, a booking agency, and is the man behind several conferences. He’s a busy guy, but also a very smart guy and I’m excited to see what he has to blog about. I’m also excited about some of the things that we have talked about for the future.
So here’s the thing. You know how this works. Everyone head over to Michael’s blog now, and wish him a very nice ‘Welcome to blogging’, subscribe, follow him on Twitter and all that. Then make sure to spread the word with that handy little “Twitter This” tool at the bottom. He’s going to be a good one to watch.
One Hat – Two Weeks (Part Two)
Well, they said it couldn’t be done, and it looks like ‘they’ were right. Two weeks ago I threw the gauntlet down. A challenge to find this exact hat. The reward? A fifty dollar gift card to Buckle. Now, you might think that’s a lame prize, but I think there’s some folks out there that would have liked to win. Some of you gave it your best shot, emails were sent, phone calls made, but to no avail. I am still sitting here wearing my ratty, old hat that I love.
So now I have the challenge of finding my own new hat. Something to replace this nasty thing before the tour starts. But something that I can still wear on a daily basis. I’ll keep you posted on what I find. For now, the Buckle card will be tucked safely away for another day, and another challenge… unless Kristin wants it.
