Donny, Marie And The Bellagio

donny_and_marie_las_vegas

So, last night after the show we ran over to the Flamingo Hotel and Casino, to meet Donny & Marie Osmond. Apparently Marie is a big fan of MercyMe, and wanted to meet the guys.  And really, who are we to say no?

Now, to be honest with you, I don’t know much about these two, but I do know they are a pretty big deal to my mom, and the MercyMe guys were pretty nervous to meet them.  We ended up hanging out for about twenty minutes or so, but they seemed super nice and were willing to let us take about a hundred pictures.

After that we walked over to the Bellagio and watched the fountains do their thing, which happened to be my favorite part of the night.  I could watch that over and over.  bellagio

Today we are in Fresno, where I’m hoping to grab some lunch with some BlogNation members then headed home in the morning.  I’m super excited to get home, but this has been a pretty cool run of shows.  I’m thrilled with the way the tour’s ‘online life’ is going and I think it’s really shaking some things up.  For now, I’ve got to go find a shower to get this Vegas off of me before lunch.

Man we didn’t miss the Osmond show at my house growing up. I still chuckle inside when I think about Donny singing that he’s a “little bit rock & roll”… (with the rock face of course!) Marie had a country song out called “Meet me in Montana”, I believe with Dan Seals, that went pretty big in the early ’80′s… I liked it (the song) and the 80′s too.

  2. Good times! I’m loving this Blog Nation thing, and the “online life” of the shows as well. Hopefully, I’ll be able to meet up with you the day of the Lansing, Michigan show. Still working on my husband to let Bekah and I do the donor passes. Let’s just hope I can find a cheap plumber. That will go a long way in making the donor passes a possibility. I’m hoping the power of twitter can find me a plumber to fix our shower problem.

  3. Two things that struck me. One: You made me feel old by saying that it was a “big deal” for your mom! Two: You said “who are WE to say “no” to Donny & Marie. You really are a big part of MM & the direction they are going. This has been an amazing (and annoying sometimes) experience. I’m proud to say “we” when you talk about BlogNation. How cool is that. What God has filled us up with, we can in turn pass it on to the new people.
That’s where the annoying part comes in. It has been a test of patience for me at times. The “kids” that drop in sometimes drive me to want to sign out. I must remember “we” are doing this to further the Kingdom of Christ and Jesus would not have been annoyed. He would have found a way to absorb their energy & impatience and use it to make them feel comfortable with us older folks.
Last, your photos have been fabulous! You frame each shot with just the right lighting & shadowing. The Bellagio fountains are mesmerizing & I want this pic for my desktop! JK. The shots of empty seats, full seats, and the guys who are preaching it seem to have life. I’m sure there are another 50 shots that don’t make it, but I am thankful for the ones you choose to share. Thanks. Talk to you later. Have a great couple of days at home. :)

  4. I feel ya, I love watching fountains, especially when they have lights. When i went to Georgia to Centenial olympic park, that’s what I mostly took pix of, hehe. too bad the Disneyland hotel took off the dancing lights show. But, when “World of Color” debuts at Disney’s California Adventure, oh, I can’t wait for that.

And that was my pointless comment on water and light shows, and fountains, lol.

I can relate with your mom because I loved the Osmond’s when I was a child. I even went to the concerts back when I was still in elementary school. Man, did I just date myself!

The Bellagio fountains are beautiful, I would love to see them.

I am so glad to be a part of Blog Nation. Enjoy your time at home with Kristin and the boys, I know they have missed you and will be excited to have you home.

Brody-You really made me feel old when you said your mom liked Donny & Marie :) Last night when I saw you guys were going to meet them I was going to have you ask Donny if he remembered me from the letter I wrote him back in the 70′! :P
Thanks for the pics and so glad they are fans of MercyMe!!
(and yes, the Donny & Marie show was a MUST at my house!)

I “grew up” with Donny and Marie! (on the tv) “I’m a little bit country”….”I’m little bit rock n roll!” I cracked up when I saw your tweet about them being out there in Las Vegas.

For some reason the thought of the MM guys being nervous to meet D & M is hilarious. I mean, we get all jittery and nervous when we go through a signing line or a meet and greet to meet them! So, by reason of deduction and multiplication, what would happen if I were to meet Donny and Marie?! Funny thought.

  9. Cool about Donny and Marie! Safe travels and enjoy your time home!!
