Sac-Town In Memphis

So, most of you know that up until about four years ago Kristin and I lived just outside of Sacramento. Now, when we lived there, we loved watching the Kings. Not because we were all into sports or anything like that, but simply because they were amazing to watch. They had an offense that was fast and exciting, the rivalry with the Lakers was at it’s peak and there were always fights. It was awesome to watch on TV and even better to go to the games. Now, since moving to Nashville, the Kings have gotten rid of every good player, they aren’t anywhere near the team they were back then and we can’t even watch the games out here on TV, but we still remember how fun that was.
The other day there was a college game on TV and Blue stopped in his tracks. He was fascinated by the crowd, the players and for some reason just got really into the game. So when Kristin asked me what I wanted for my birthday, I thought it would be fun to take the boys to a basketball game. Since the closest professional team to us is the Grizzlies, the plan was to head to Memphis. Kristin looked at the schedule and coincidentally they are playing the Kings tomorrow night.
So tomorrow morning we are taking off on a road trip to Memphis. We’ve got a hotel, some basketball tickets and plenty of snacks for the car. It’s the first time in a long time we will have had a chance to get away, and before I get even busier than I have been, I can’t wait to partially unplug and hang out with Kristin and the boys. Go Kings.
Any other NBA fans out there? Who’s your team?

I’m not as much an NBA fan as I am a college hoops fan.
I LOVE March Madness. Every year, every member of our family fills out a bracket.
A few years ago the Baylor Women’s basketball team won the National Championship. That was crazy fun.
Jimmy takes our girls to a lot of the Baylor games and they love it. I’m sure your kids will have a blast too!
(If pressed for an NBA team, I’d have to say the Houston Rockets…)
I hope they give you a good game!
Unless you’re a Laker fan you ain’t from CA. O yes, this is when things get ultra competitive with me. I was practically born in a Lakers jersey. I have crazy memories of the dynasty days (I was super little, but totally remember)
Go Lakers, this season is ours!
i grew up in milwaukee so i’m kind of a bucks fan. starting to enjoy the nba after not paying attention for a few years. i like the celtics these days…love ray allen! also…big d-wade fan!
twolves.
they are almost as bad as the kings and griz.
not a huge bball fan, but we are friends with kenny thomas who plays for the kings….
Not a basketball fan, but am a big fan of family road trips! They grow up and go out on their own quicker than you’ll believe. Our sport was baseball. Made it to see the Giants at Candlestick park the last seasonvin the park. Good memories.
Safe travels and good times to you all.
Glad to hear your a hoops fan. Big Phoenix Suns fan, lived there for 12 years. Hopefully they can make a run again this year!
Grew up in L.A. & spent a whole lot of time at the L.A. Forum. It’s all about the Lakers in this house, when it comes to basketball that is.
The Trailblazers baby! I mean how could they not be my team when they are the only pro-team in my home state… ha Well I was much more into them back in the early 90′s when Clyde Drexler and Cliff Robinson ruled the roost and they dominated the Western Conference. They don’t any more, but I’m still a loyal fan even if I’m more into college bball now than the NBA. Have fun in Memphis, you know who to call if you want a grand tour!
Celtics baby! Boston through and through! But I’d pretty much root for anyone playing the Lakers though…
I’m not a big basketball fan but I do like to watch some of the college games, “Go Memphis Tigers”. This is my son’s alma mater, which is what got me into watching basketball *insert son played in the band here*.
If I had to go with a NBA team I guess I would say the Memphis Grizzlies just because I live in the Memphis area. Have a great time at the game.
They DO have a good player, and his name is Kevin Martin. You’ll know who he is because he’ll score a large percentage of their points.
He lived beside me in our dorm at Western Carolina University. We never thought he’d go in the top 20 in the draft, but he did and he’s a baller, man…..you’ll see.
Oh, and for me…currently live in Phoenix, so go Suns!
This is off topic, but congrats on the Dove Award nomination, Brody.
NBA not so much, but next weekend my husband & I are making the 6 hour drive to Dallas to watch the Pittsburgh Penguins play the Stars in hockey. We get to do that every other year. Amanda will drive up from Waco & meet us. She went to her first Pens game when she was Blue’s age. She loves hockey! Not bad for a girl with no professional teams closer than 4 hours away. You all have an awesome family time.
Awesome!! Zac LOVES basketball. His team is going to a Clippers game on March 2nd and it’s been pre-arranged for the boys to go down and high five the players in the tunnel … the clippers AND the Spurs.
I really wanted to get him Laker tickets for his birthday but OMG they are expensive.
love the nba.
i guess i like the bobcats since they are my hometeam in NC.
yet, i really find myself cheering for all the teams with former duke players. like, utah (boozer), new york (duhon), houston (battier), philly (brand), indiana (dunleavy), golden st (maggette), phoenix (hill), orlando (redick), etc. the list goes on.
