What Do We Think?

I’m changing a few things up around here.  Starting with the header.

What do we think?

Where’s Brody?

long_drive

Tuesday I am flying to California for a couple days and then driving a truck back to Nashville.  Should be back sometime Saturday or Sunday.  This will be the fifth time I have driven across the country, and I’m super excited about it.  I’m excited to dive into that level of focus that only the monotony of long drives can bring.  I’m excited to be mildly ‘unplugged’ for a the time that it will take to get back home.  And I’m excited about the clarity that comes with staring at lines on a road for days at a time.

I’m not sure which route will be the best, but I’m hoping (weather permitting) to be able to take the ‘Northern’ route, simply because I’m not a fan of driving through Arizona, New Mexico and Texas.  Sorry south, your just kinda boring.  And as long as I can avoid Kansas, I’m good.  No offense Todd.

I’ll do my best to keep you all updated from the road, and most likely I’ll be taking more pictures from my phone than normal.  There’s also a potential of be driving you nuts on Twitter, simply because my brain goes weird places if it’s left to it’s own too long.  I’m trying to come up with some fun ways for you all to join me on some level on the trip, but I’ll let you know.

Any suggestions on the ‘must see’s’ on the way across?

Chain Reaction

chain_reaction

Some of you might remember this game from a long time ago, but I wanted to ‘re-introduce’ this one to everyone.  Basically it’s just something fun and pointless to do today since it’s a quiet, rainy day here in Nashville.  Here’s how it works.

I’ll start with a word.  Something like ‘Spring’.  The first person to comment will use that word along with another word to create something like ‘Spring Board’.  The next comment would look something like ‘Board Game’, then ‘Game Boy’ and so on.  Make sense?  One of the words you use must come from the previous two words commented.  I know, I know… it’s early and it’s Saturday, but I think we can do it.  The more people involved and the more comments the more fun it is.  Everyone ready?

Let’s start with the word “Mountain”.

Ready?  Go.

**If someone beats you to using your word, just throw another comment on there with the new word.  The judges are pretty forgiving.**

Tweet This

twitter_icyww

So, I don’t know if any of you care, but I have added a little feature down at the bottom of each post giving you all the opportunity to “Tweet” a specific post.  Most of you have seen these already and I’m not sure I will ever say anything profound enough for you to want to Tweet, but at least the option is there.

Now, here’s the cool thing.  There’s also the “Tweets About This Post” thing which consolidates all the Tweets… You know… about this post.  Again, I’m not sure if I will say anything profound enough for you to want to spread, but here’s to hoping.

Riveting huh?

Do You Lent?

lent

Recently, everyone around the blog world is talking about Lent and to be quite honest, I had to read about it (again) to fully understand the purpose and procedures of participating in Lent.  Now, I’ve seen people talking about giving up Twitter for Lent, Coffee for Lent, TV for lent, and all sorts of other things that they consider a sacrifice.

Me?  I’ve never participated in Lent.  I don’t know why.  I didn’t grow up doing it, and I’ve never really dug into it enough to feel convicted to do it.  Not to mention, somehow I don’t think giving up Twitter would have the same spiritual affect on me as forty days in the desert had on Jesus. And that’s not even bringing up the whole ‘dying for our sins’ thing.

Now, I’m not knocking Lent at all.  In fact, I’m a little fascinated by the whole thing, and I’m certainly curious about your thoughts.  Do you participate?  If so, what are you giving up for forty days?

Ready?  Go.

SkörInc Dove Nods

skor_doves

I know we’ve talked a little about The Dove Awards a little bit already this week, but I wanted to point out some of the folks that we get to work with that are nominated.  I’m blown away everyday that I get to work with the creative, talented people that I do, and I think it’s awesome that some of them have been included on the list of Dove Nominations.  Here’s the list.

    • Pop/Contemporary Recorded Song
“I Will Not Be Moved” Natalie Grant
    • Special Event Album
      “Passion” – Fee
      “Your Name” – Phil Wickham

*Now, the category of “New Artist of the Year” and “Artist Of The Year” are now “Fan Voted” categories, so don’t be surprised if I ask you to choose between Fee and Addison Road at some point and vote ten thousand times.

    Congratulations to all the nominee’s.

    Got Fifteen Minutes?

    (HT: NoiseTrade)

This might bore most of you, but this presentation was pretty interesting to me this morning, and I thought I’d share it here.  Some of you music people, I’d love to know your thoughts.  He’s got a lot of ideas crammed into this presentation.  I’ve watched it a few times to try and catch it all, but I think there’s some gems.

See, this is the ‘world’ that I live in so all of this makes sense to me and I totally agree with it, but I know there have got to be people out there that don’t agree with this as a whole and I’d love to know your thoughts. Where do you fall?

    The Roadshow

    rawrs

Alright folks.  It’s up and going.  The Rock & Worship Roadshow Blog is officially off the ground.  There’s a ton of stuff planned and I think it’s going to be an amazing tour, but we are going to need everyone’s help getting the word out.  You up for it?

So here’s the thing.  If you haven’t yet, make sure you sign up to Follow The Roadshow on Twitter for last minute updates and announcements, become a Fan on Facebook, subscribe to the YouTube Channel and yes, even visit the Myspace page.

I couldn’t be more excited about the different things we have planned for this tour.  If half of what we have planned works, it’s going to be awesome.  So, seriously, make sure to check the blog and check it often and tell as many people as you can.  It’s going to be a fun ride.

    Go. Now.

Everyone Says It, But I Really Mean It

    dove_awards

What?!! Most of you already know but, I found out the other day that I am among the list of those nominated for a Dove Award.  Weird huh!?  At first I thought it was a joke, until I looked it up for myself and there it was.  Completely and totally random.

    RECORDED MUSIC PACKAGING
Remedy Club Tour Edition (David Crowder*Band); Shelley Giglio, David Crowder; Gary Dorsey; Brody Harper
    ; Sparrow Records, sixsteps records.

Holy crap!  Now here’s the thing.  This is a complete accident for more than one reason.  First off, I wasn’t even contracted (or asked) to be a photographer on this tour.  I was road managing Phil at the time and I literally had some time to kill during the shows and thought it would be fun to take some pictures.  That turned into the Crowder guys liking them and wanting to use some of them on the DVD/CD and now this.  Seriously?!  Second, I have no idea what I am doing with a camera!  I don’t know how to mess with the settings, or lighting or anything.  I’m completely blown away.

    crowder-art

Now, here’s the thing.  I’m guessing Hawk Nelson will win this, and that’s completely fine.  This is truly, 100% a time where I can say, “It is an honor just being nominated”.  Don’t get me wrong, I’d like to win, but based on the circumstances of how I have completely stumbled into this situation, I’m good with whatever happens.  I suppose this is just one of those things, where all I can do is laugh and see what happens.  Thanks for all the kind messages the other day from all of you… I’m sorry I thought you all were kidding.  I’m still a little weirded out.

Stats Suck Sunday – In Bullet Points

    stats_suck_sunday

Welcome to Sunday.  You all know how this works, and if you don’t, it’s simple.  Write random things that are on your mind on your blog, and then fill out the box at the bottom.  The point?  There isn’t one.  It’s just a time for randomness, and to throw things out that don’t merit an entire blog post.  Think of it as a bunch of Tweets all at once.  You ready?

    • It’s cold here this morning.  Like twenty-six degrees cold.
    • I just saw the longest Hannah Montana movie preview ever.  Apparently she gets in trouble for throwing a shoe at someone and figures out she likes horses and cowboys.  See I just saved you ten bucks.
    • The ’special feature’ on the SkörInc site didn’t happen last week, because we’ve been slammed and didn’t get to it, but be looking for that soon.
    • Our neighbor across the street has become a rocket scientist, which completely opens the “it doesn’t take a rocket scientist” joke wide open.
    • Here’s something funny for the three of you in the world that missed this video of a lady throwing a fit because she missed a flight.
    • Kristin and I were completely taken back by how many Hooters there were in the Memphis area.  Seems like we past five or six of them.
    • I’m wondering how many people were hesitant to click on that Hooters link up there.
    • I’m still praying for all the folks in my previous post that said that they were Lakers fans.  I’m not entirely sure that you can be a Christian and still like the Lakers, but I guess we all have things we are embarrassed about.
    • Blue has literally asked for breakfast a hundred and thirty times.  I’m about to freak out.
    • Coffee is calling.
    • Still waiting to hear who’s hosting Positive Post Tuesday this week.  Email me if you are interested.

That’s it for today folks.  There might be something else later today but I wanted to get this going.  So lets hear it.  What’s the randomness on your mind today?  Ready?  Go.
