Introducing ‘SkörInc Preview’

skor_preview

So check this out.  We had this idea the other day to get more folks involved in the process that is SkörInc.  We’ve been getting more and more ‘clients / partners / friends / whatever you want to call them’ that we have been designing for and we wanted to include those that support us as a company.  In doing that we believe that together we can create something bigger and better than what we could come up with ourselves and we want your input.  Sound good?

Beginning next week we will be posting a handy little thing we like to call “SkorInc Preview”.  Basically, the idea behind it is that we are asking your thoughts on the design of the blogs we are about to launch.  What you love, what you hate, and what you want to see happen with that specific artist.  No more ‘top secret’ launches.  No more hiding it until it’s finished.  We want to know what you all think from the beginning.

How’s that sound?  Something you might be interested in?  Stay Tuned next week.

Your Last Text Message

text

Alright folks, time to see if you are brave enough to answer today’s random question.  You know these questions are completely random and designed to just be a fun place to get to know others.  So in the spirit of that, here’s the random question of the day.

What did the very last text message you sent say, and who was it to?

And I know there has been a lot of talk about me not answering my own random questions so I will today.  Sound good?  Here it is.

Pretty exciting eh?  Your turn.  Ready?  Go.

Britney 2.0

web_20

Yesterday was a big day for the old ‘Web 2.0′ world.  Wanna know why?  I couldn’t go anywhere today without hearing about how Britney Spears has decided to hire an “online media manager”.  It looks as though all of the sudden this whole web thing is merging into the entertainment business.  Surprised?  Me neither.

So, why’s it such a big deal to me or anyone that I know, that Britney Spears would be hiring someone to pretend to be her on Twitter, pretend to be her on Facebook, pretend to be her on a blog, and pretend to interact with her fans?  It’s not.  What is a big deal to me, however, is that it’s become a major announcement that someone in her camp is paying attention to the trends.  It’s a big deal because where I’m sitting, the Christian music industry has been doing this for, oh let’s say, a little over a year now.  Some a little longer, but really all out ‘social media frenzy’ for about a year.  I know, because I’ve been paying attention really closely for a long time.  And if you’ve been paying attention here, you know where I’m coming from.  And the good thing about that for me?  It’s official.  Mainstream music has jumped on so now we can feel comfortable doing it.  Right?  Don’t just take my word for it anymore, take Britney’s too.

Now, here’s the thing though.  If Britney’s people called SkörInc tomorrow would I take the job?  Without question.  But there are two things off the top of my head that I would make ‘mandatory’.  One, the price would jump considerably from what we are charging the folks that we work with now.  Do you blame me?  And two, everything would have to be real.  Twitter would be hooked to her phone, her blog posts would be written on her computer, and she’d be holding a Flip camera on her videos.  It’s that simple.  Because if it’s not that, it’s not worth it.  If it’s a label or marketing person, or PR person, or even a ‘hired online media manager’ writing things for her, what’s the point.  It’s just not worth pouring the money in to.

That’s the beauty of what has been happening in the Christian Music Industry.  Relationships are being built, community is being cultivated and blogs are no longer an ‘extra’ thing that don’t matter.  They are real connections with the artists being real.  That’s the goal and vision of SkörInc, and that’s what excites me to see… and if you don’t see that happening, you’re not paying attention close enough.

Although if Britney’s people called me tomorrow, and the price jump was considerable enough, I might be tempted to just simply hire someone else named Britney to do some of the writing.  But I’m sure they’ve thought of that.

Calling All Nashville Bloggers

nashville-tn-1897

Alright Nashville (or surrounding area) Bloggers, I need to hear from you.  I know there are a lot of you out there and I have one question for you.

What do you do for a living?  I’ve got an idea.

Ready? Go.

Joel & Luke

joel-and-luke

So, tonight I’m headed to downtown Nashville to watch these guys sing some songs.  I only know one of them personally, but I’m pretty excited to hear their stuff.  I met Luke when he sang at our church one time when I was playing.  Does that mean that I played guitar for him once?

Okay, new description… I played guitar for Luke one time and we hit it off talking about business ideas and marketing things.  Now we are friends.  How’s that sound?  Better?

Anyway, that’s the plan for tonight.  I even heard that Chad is going to be there.  Also, rumor has it there might even be a live broadcast of sorts from the show, but I will keep you posted with the details on that.

Other than that, it’s Monday and I’m slammed.  Hence the brief post.  What’s your plan for today?

Stats Suck Sunday – In Bullet Points

sss

Yep, it’s Sunday.  Welcome to it.  You know the rules here on Stats Suck Sunday.  And if you don’t, well, they are simple.  Write something random on your blog, then fill out the box below telling people that you have, in fact, written something random, yet possibly interesting to others.  The point is to just get your thoughts out.  Well, let’s be honest, the point is to just have something to blog about.  Either way, your stats will suck today… and so will mine.

  • The medium and tall boy stayed at Kristin’s dad’s and it was a slow, quiet morning.  So nice to wake up slow on a Sunday.
  • I heard there was more football on today but I’ve decided to watch Spiderman 3 instead.  At least until I get distracted.
  • Math is hard.
  • Planning on heading up to the Joel & Luke show tomorrow night.  I’ve heard of several people going, so if you’re in the Nashville area, it should be a great night.
  • So far every day this week is booked with some sort of meeting.  That’s a good thing and a stressful thing all at once.
  • No Fee songs at church today, but we did do a Brenton Brown song, so it’s still a SkörInc related Sunday.
  • Afternoon coffee on cold days like this is awesome.
  • Kristin made a mitten last night while we were watching football.  I’m pretty impressed by that.
  • I hope to have some more big SkörInc news by the end of the week, but for now just wanted to make sure that you all got your badge from over on the sidebar.  Come on, don’t be shy.  You know you want one… that is unless you are charging large amounts of money to put stuff like that on your blog…. in which case, you are out of luck because I’m not going to pay for it.

That’s what’s on my mind folks.  Let’s hear it from you. Ready? Go.

Biggest Loser Workout

nbc-biggest-loser-logo

So, Kristin and I have decided to try out this Biggest Loser Workout video thing for six weeks.  It was more Kristin deciding it when she bought it and brought it home and said, “I think we should try out this Biggest Loser Workout video thing for six weeks.”, but I have decided to make a go at it with her.  I’m not going to lie.  It’s really hard.

Here’s how it works.  The first three weeks you alternate between ‘Workout One’ and ‘Workout Three’, then week four, five and six, alternating between “Workout Two’ and ‘Workout Four’.  We just finished our first week and I’m still not so sure I’m down.

You know how they say that the more you work out the better you feel?  I’m still waiting for that.  We did, however, decide to take the weekends off, you know, for recovery time, so today is really nice.

Anyway, week one is down, I’m still alive and I do feel less tired so that it nice.  Five more weeks and I’ll be all in shape and junk.  It’s really fun to be doing this with Kristin so we can keep each other motivated.  Otherwise I would have returned the DVD and bought some burritos instead.

Any other workout video peeps out there?  Don’t be shy.

Happy Birthday S.L.O.B.

mercyme-slob-birthday

Tomorrow marks a pretty cool day for MercyMe and for SkörInc.  Probably more of a cool day for SkörInc than for MercyMe, but either way.  Tomorrow marks the day that MercyMe posted it’s first blog post working with SkörInc.

It’s been a long year.  It’s been a growing year.  And I’ve amazed at the involvement and progress the guys in MercyMe have made in their web presence.  I’m excited to see the strides we are going to make this next year.  And let me tell you… there are some big plans.  It’s going to be awesome.

Anyway, Happy Birthday S.L.O.B. and thanks to this community here that helped make an amazing year.

Matthew 5:44

pray

“But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.”

I’m not a big fan of confrontation.  I don’t like fights.  I don’t even like it when people don’t like me.  Last night was the third night in a row that I’ve had a hard time sleeping.  Not for any reason really.  Just a lot spinning in my brain and keeping my mind going.  All good things, just a lot.  Well I realized last night laying awake again, people aren’t going to like me.  The Bible doesn’t say “If an enemy shows up love them, and if someone ever doesn’t like you make sure to pray for them.”  The Bible says “Love Your Enemies”.  Meaning, you are going to have enemies.  ”Pray for those who persecute you”.  Meaning, people will persecute you.

After a realization like that in the middle of the night, it’s not like your brain is going to allow you to ‘shut off’ and go to sleep, and I started asking questions.  Now, I Twittered this question this morning and got some pretty amazing responses, but I wanted to further the discussion here.  Are you ready?  The main question that popped in my head last night was this.

What words am I supposed to pray when I am ‘praying for those that persecute me’?

Tough one huh?  I mean, those words sound simple.  But when it’s crunch time and you have made the decision to pray for those that are persecuting you, what words come out?  You’d better have something prepared because if you don’t resentment can creep in, or you’ll end up laying there in silence, slowly falling fast asleep.
