It’s time for the random question of the day. We have no idea where they come from, but they are exciting to answer. Come on, you know you love them. These also seem to pop up when the author of this here blog has been so busy that his eyes are crossing, and he wants to have some fun dialogue on the blog. Enough with the explanation. Let’s get to it.
Living or dead, retired or active, which band would you most want to tour with for a month? You’re not working, your just hanging out…. for one month.
**Please limit the ‘U2′ answers. Let’s try to be creative here peeps**
Ready? Go.

I’m gonna go with The Pixies and Nirvana.
I think I could handle a month.. maybe just a week or two but would have taken any time I could have gotten.
Winger or Girlschool
Wow, one of your better questions. I can’t decide whether to show my age or not. The Eagles would be fun. Maybe Fleetwood Mac. How about you?

while it would be tempting to choose a more…exuberant band like The Who, DC*B or GWAR, chances are you’d end up dead before your 30 days were over.
i’m going to go with mr. phil wickham. *seems* like it would be kick back with lots of good conversation about the Lord.
him or john mayer. just to hear john practicing.
India Arie … without a doubt. I love the calm energy she possesses and think it’d be awesome to be surrounded by that for awhile.
Third Day- without a doubt.
Yep, I’m with Dee! Third Day all the way or Mercy Me! After watching many of VH1’s Behind The Music, I couldn’t hang out for a month with any of those secular bands I liked.
Sorry, that’d seem too much like work. On the other hand, it might lead to a job, so maybe that’s not such a bad thing. Of course my wife wouldn”t much like it if I took a road job, either. And their tech crew and I would likely butt heads…
must.learn.to.keep.mouth.shut….
Much easier (and longer) list for me would be the groups I would NOT want to be on the road with for a month
Now here’s a question: do we get to bring our spouse? that would make the answer a bit easier!
Prayer Chain, one of the first Christian artists that I went to see in concert. Also Keith Green.
MercyMe.
Keith urban
Nope… sorry…
U2 it is.
Ooooh tough one. Probably with Jon Foreman/Switchfoot.
Either him or Red Umbrella.
Sigur Ros fo sho. Although, I think we might have a hard time communicating…
I’d have to go with Mercy Me or Reilly. Of course, Reilly is still getting things off the ground and they tour in a mini-van. Might be a bit cramped. Mercy Me has a big bus! I guess Mercy Me wins.
Ummm…probably Flight of the Conchords.
I think I’d choose Coldplay. Might be a little typical, but they seem pretty fun, and a lot like pretty normal people.
Or maybe Jay-Z….haha!
- trae castles
The Beatles.
@pokinatcha I don’t have to watch VH1, I live it every weekend. Just think about the stuff they have to EDIT OUT for broadcast.
I suspect some bands pay extra for edits, too….
I can’t pick just one! But I’ll at least narrow it down to three….
Jeremy Camp, Third Day, MercyMe - All three include a HILARIOUS group of guys that would be way too much fun to hang with! I come from a family, with too many men, that LOVES to laugh, so any of those would feel like home away from home
Currently, it would definitely be MercyMe.
However, if all the original guys were still together I would have loved to have toured with Journey. Back in the days (years, insert the 1980’s here) when Steve Perry and Steve Smith were still in the band.
Journey. For sure.
two reasons:
1. I’m sure just being in the presence of Steve Smith would improve my drumming.
2. “Faithfully”. Best road song. Gotta get on the bus with guys that wrote THE song about being on the bus…right?
Bill Gaither or Gold City…i freaking love those guys. wow…amazing.
probably twila paris.
if she’s too busy, u2.
I don’t know how to narrow it down to just one….I’ll say IL Tivo or Celtic Thunder.
Way to hard to answer! Seeing what living on the road does to the secular bands via my husband–no thank you to that realm!! Would it seem cool–sure–for a day until you realize what the life is really like and what really happens on those buses sometimes! No thank you. If you had asked me that question 20 years ago I would have had a list a mile long including Foreigner, Styx, Boston, REO almost any 80’s rock band.
Now–I’d hang out with any of the bands in christian music just to let them know that there are people who know that what they do is hard work for the Lord. Again, it would seem cool for a day, but when that is not the life the Lord has asked you to live, it doesn’t seem so cool for very long.
Probably Brendan James. He’s a pretty cool guy and they seem to have a lot of fun on the road. If you’ve never heard his music, it’s amazing!
@Jake: traveling with Flight of the Conchords would definitely be a trip!
Dave Matthews Band
Third Day
Gene (comment #4) used David Crowder Band in the same sentence as GWAR…oh my! I’m going to see dc*b in concert this weekend…is there something I should know?!
hammock!
Maybe Amy Grant and Vince Gill….
Mom
Radiohead would be interesting.
Cannot believe somebody said Prayer Chain! I totally agree!
Mercy Me or Jeremy Camp
Without question, Mercy Me. Have these people not seen Cover Tune Grab Bag? That’s reason enough, right there:-).
The Avett Brothers….. clearly my favorite band and perhaps a good selection for MYNH. However, it almost requires you attend a concert first to fully grasp the gravity of the thing.
Do you think Beethoven toured a lot?
The Jimi Hendrix Experience
Who could / would be more fun than DC*B? Not only would the time be spent on the outter fringes of insanity but just think of the spiritual dicsussions. Just thinking of the Crowder books makes me grin from ear to ear.
After reading the book, “At the end of the world”, and watching Rattle & Hum, Zooropa, Pop Mart, and being next to the heart at the elevation tour, how could I not pick, the greatest band in the world, U2?! (plus, theres way more people here picking Mercy Me & Third Day). Realistically, I would love to tour with Jars of Clay again. Great shows and some good flag football!
Five Iron Frenzy or The Supertones.
Reason #1) They put on the best live shows, I highly doubt I’d get bored of seeing them nite after nite.
Reason #2) There are A LOT of members in both bands, each with their own distinct personality…makes for a more interesting experience, I think, to be surrounded by so many different people.
Reason #3) I miss those bands!
Stillwater…
Garth Brooks (oh my, did he just say that). The guy can entertain so i wouldn’t get tired of the show. And who knows he may be a cool guy to hang out with.
Definitely Switchfoot. Such talent! Kutless would be a good tour too and TobyMac could be a lot of fun; especially if his family was along for the ride.
hands down…The Jonas Brothers…They seem like three young guys that have their heads on straight!
For sure Delirious. They’ve been my all time favorite band since they came to the states. I hate it that they are ending their time together, but glad they aren’t going to just replace players. It shows the “in it together”. Luv em for it.
Stevie Ray Vaughn and Double Trouble… Too bad things happened as they did in August of 1991. Never get tired of hearing a great play some smokin’ Texas blues!
LIVING: Glasvegas (up and coming bands are so much more fun and less disciplined — though that could definitely be a bad thing), Jamie Lidell, Foy Vance, Harry Connick, Jr, and Beck, because I think he’s a musical genius.
DEAD: Bob Marley and the Wailers, The Clash, and Duke Ellington’s orchestra.
Kings of Leon…and if I believed that you could lose your salvation, I know I would need to get saved again after the tour
yeah, so the first person i thought of was garth brooks, and then looked through the comments only to see that my hubby was the only other person who said garth brooks…
we were for sure made for eachother…
i wonder if mercy me’s blog has influenced so many people wanting to tour with them… hmmm
Michael Jackson (and I don’t even like him)
Third Day, Crowder, The Afters, Day of Fire, and Chris Tomlin.
