Decorations

I’ve never been huge on decorating for Christmas, but there have been years when I got really into it.  This year I haven’t really had the time or energy to ‘go all out’, but we do have some lights up outside.  Kristin and I joke about how ghetto it looks when we drive up because it’s not very uniform.  Usually I go around the porch railings and then on all four trees in the front shrub area.  This year?  All of our lights decided to go out and I haven’t gotten more yet, so it’s only the top of the railings and two of the four trees.  I’ll be honest.  My heart was not in it this year… yet.

Today, somehow I ended up on this site showing off some pretty amazing Christmas light spectacles from all over the world.  Some of them are pretty impressive until I start thinking about the electricity bills.  So how about you?  Are you a decorator?  How much to do you decorate for Christmas?  Scale of one to ten, (ten being the photos above) I think our house is about a three.  Where do you fall?

  1. scale of 1-10 …. we're currently at zero cause we've not done anything yet.

We're supposed to get the tree today, and then the insides of our house, when done, will be a 2, maybe 3…. but the outside will likely remain a zero. Unless I put up a few lights, then a 1- ….

if putting out presents around a fake tree counts then i am a 1.

  3. Frankly, let's say 0-1 only because my dearest roommate decked out front veranda roof with colorful lights.

  4. I've been known to go all out, but I'm with you this year. I just don't feel motivated or inspired to decorate. We're not even getting a tree! The new ornaments are hanging on the fake ficus. (Talk about ghetto!) Just seems like more trouble than it's worth this year, and the fact that we're leaving town for Christmas doesn't help.

I'd say, I'm a 2. With HI electric prices the highest in the nation I decided not to put Christmas lights on the outside this yr. After Christmas last year our bill was $700, I kid you not!
