Tis The Season

Throngs of Black Friday shoppers stampeded a Wal-Mart employee as they rushed into the Green Acres mall in Valley Stream minutes before it opened.

“When the doors opened, all hell broke loose,” a law enforcement source told The Post.

An unidentified man, believed to be a store employee who tried to restrain the oncoming juggernaut, was knocked to the ground at 5:03 a.m.

He was rushed to a local hospital but declared dead at 6:03, police said.

Four other people were hospitalized, including a 28-year-old pregnant woman. She was knocked to the store floor a short distance from where the 34-year-old man was trampled and her fate was unclear.

The other three people taken to hospitals suffered minor injuries.

Items on sale at the Wal-Mart store included a $798 Samsung 50-inch Plasma HDTV, a Bissel Compact Upright Vaccum for $28, a Samsung 10.2 megapixel digital camera for $69 and DVDs such as “The Incredible Hulk” for $9.

  1. Ah, I read that earlier today. That's terrible.
Some people just need to chill out.

  2. I heard about that. If I'm going out ever in that mess, I'm bringing a taser or stun gun.

  3. Where I live, all the WalMart's are open 24 hours. We were allowed in the store of course, but not allowed to put stuff in our baskets until 5am.

I got the KitchenAid Classic stand mixer for $130

I don't go out for the early morning deals anymore, I would rather pay the regular price. It used to be fun to get up early and go grab one of the bargains that they offer however tha has all changed. Some people will do whatever it takes to get one the bargains whether its being rude, fighting, grabbing items from your basket or even your hand. Its ridiculous to have to put up with these kind of situations just to pick up a gift for someone.____The stores are to blame for some of this as well. First of all they should ensure they have an adequate supply of the hot items plus they should offer a rain check for the sale price when they run out. After all if the people waited for hours just to get a deal its not their fault that the store ran out before they could get in. This would eliminate the problems associated with black Friday shopping.____The death of that Walmart employee should never have happened. There was also two people killed at a ToysRUs store in California. They both pulled a gun on each other and killed each other in the store. The news said that they thought they were arguing over a toy. Who carries a gun into a toy store? It so senseless to have these types of tragedies occur just because you need a gift.
