The Day After
Yesterday was great. A very low-key, relaxing Thanksgiving celebration. We went to Kristin’s dad’s house for the day, watched some football, ate more than we probably should have and watched the sugar affect the boys. This is the first ‘traditional’ Thanksgiving we have had since we have lived in Tennessee, so it was cool to be able to just hang out. Oh, yeah…. and this was awesome.
Today is the infamous ‘Black Friday’ and I wanted nothing to do with it. Going into Wal-Mart on a normal day stresses me out to the point of wanting to run out screaming, so the idea of waking up early and going into the cold with a bunch of angry shoppers is less than appealing to me. Kristin, however, was up at gone by six this morning. She loves the idea of finding a deal, and I love the idea of her finding the deals so it’s a great matchup.
So what about you? Do you do the whole ‘Black Friday’ thing? What’s the best deal you got today?

Dude. That pic is amazing
My best deal came from the online refurbished apple store! 8GB iTouch for $179! (one day I'm gonna grow up and get a iMac too! but for now…a refurbished Toshiba PC Laptop rounded out my BF madness)
6 am – That's nothing, man. Mrs. E was at a store at midnight! An outlet center near here opened all their stores at midnight, and there was my lovely wife STANDING IN LINE for two hours to get in. Crazy.
Hey, I feel the exact same way about Walmart. And Kmart too for that matter. Basically if it ends in "mart" it has to be a life, death, or chocolate emergency for me to enter the doors.
I planned on getting up at 3am with my hubby to go fight the madness (he does this every year), but when the alarm went off he told me to go back to sleep and that he would make our 14 year old go with him. Man, that is true love there! He knows how important a full night's sleep is to me.
I hope your wife got some amazing deals. I do enjoy the thrill of the hunt, but not in the middle of the night
The best thing is that my wife and all her friends left to go shoppiing at 4am and I did not. I wnet one year and that will never happen again. I am with you son, Mom likes bargins and I like her getting them. I am off in a few to go play golf all by myself, oh the peace and quiet I can almost taste it. Love you Son Glad you had a great day!
The Best deal I found, was waking up this morning not at a venue!
No way-I am with you-I don't even like Wal-mart or shopping most of the year…much less when all of the crazies are out!!
Especially when stuff like this is going on: http://tinyurl.com/5opfv3. That ias just crazy (and sad).
Glad you had a good Thanksgiving and pray the rest of your year is blessed!

My hubby is in the Middle East, not getting any deals, so my son and I struck out at 4:50am this morning to get the shopping done. Best Buy had a PC bundle special for $599. It's an HP with 4 processors, 6gb of memory and a 650gb hard-drive. It came with a 21.6" flat screen monitor and a Cannon printer. It was just under $1100 separately. It's not a Mac (don't want or need one). Our current PC is almost 9 years old though and it REALLY shows it's age. It's also become recently possessed, despite repeated complete wipes. Merry Christmas to the family!
Nope.. I was so bored today. Although my wife went to Target this afternoon after the grocery store..and she said it was empty. I guess everyone had their fill.
My deal? I slept 'til 10am. Then Rachel and I headed to lunch with friends near Duke University while the kids stayed with their cousins. I had a great dinner of Cuban food and followed it up with four games of pool. The whole day was a bargain…yet priceless.
I DID the Walmart thing this morning. Typically I'm totally with you Brody on your feelings for Walmart. It brings out the worst in parenting and children's behavior. But, alas, when my son (age 21 and past screaming in Walmart behavior) brought over a torn out piece of paper from the 'while supplies last' section of the Black Friday flier, and quietly mentioned how much he'd appreciate the Kitchen Aide Stand mixer (this after having said the day before that he couldn't think of a thing he needed or even wanted for Christmas), I committed myself to going.
Up at 4, at Walmart by 4:30, found my goal, home back in bed by 5:30.
I guess Walmart can bring out the best in kids and parents, cause I know my boy will love his new toy!
I spent the rest of the day trying to load windows on a new hard drive. It has not been a fun day.
Personally, I hate shopping! I would never get up and go shopping @ such an awful hour of the morning! To me the price isn't worth all the hassle! Really, the best deal I got this week is $90rt tickets to Oahu to go to a concert!
Hi Brody, per moi, forget "black Friday"—the picture looks great and is getting me hungry!!!
