(More) Music You’ve Never Heard
You may or may not have noticed the new tab at the top of this blog named “MYNH”. Guess what that stands for. Yep. ”Music You’ve Never Heard”. It’s a feature I have messed around with a little on this blog and would love to develop into something one day, but for now I thought it would be a good place to just browse.
Here’s the problem though. I keep running out of music. Between traveling, family, SkörInc, and well… sleep, I haven’t had a ton of time to keep up on the music I’ve never heard. So I need some help and since this will be an ongoing thing (thanks to the new tab) it will, hopefully, be a good resource for years to come. Okay maybe not years to come but at least for the next couple days.
So let’s hear it. What’s some music I have never heard? Ready? Go.

I haven’t been reading your blog long, so I’ll just list the people I listen to every day:
Andy Gullahorn
Andrew Peterson
Andrew Osenga
Ben Shive
Sandra McCracken
Derek Webb
Jill Phillips
Sara Groves
Eric Peters
Jon Foreman
Katy Bowser
I’m sure you’ve heard of some of these, but the ones you haven’t, you should definitely check out.
My favorite local band in college was, Far. They eventually signed with Atlantic, recorded two albums, toured with the deftones, and broke up. They have now secretly reunited as, Hot Little Pony, and can be found playing a few shows and on myspace. Check out there infectious cover of the 90′s R&B artist Genuine.
Red Umbrella
House of Heroes
Deas Vail
The Lonely Hearts
Seabird
Red Umbrella and Deas Vail are my favorites right now.
I just blogged about a great song on Joan Osborne’s new album, “Cathedrals.” I hadn’t heard any of her music other than her big hit, “One of Us,” but I’m planning on picking up this album because of this song.
You’ve probably heard of some of these, but anyway…
Abandon
B. Reith
Colour Academy(love them;they’re from my state)
The Evan Anthem
Ever Stays Red
Future of Forestry
Jon McLaughlin
Mae
Olivia the Band
Rides Again(great Canadian band;check them out)
Turn Off the Stars
VOTA
Last night I saw the Hotel Cafe Girls tour in Gainesville. I was going for Ingrid Michaelson, but I loved the other girls in the show too…
Erin McCarley and Samantha Crain.
I haven’t listened to too much of their stuff yet, but they have pretty powerful voices for such tiny women! Their guitars are bigger than they are.
I have done some work with a band called The Red Airplanes and they are pretty good, a new and upcoming thing
And some friends of mine are trying hard to get their first full album released they are called They Met in LA and their website is http://www.theymetinla.com
that’s all I can think of right now
Really enjoying John Mark McMillan’s new album, “The Medicine.”
Jamie Barnes and Andrew Stonestreet are my other current favorites.
I know they most likely have been said already but I’m a big fan of:
Ever Stays Red
These guys are amazing! I’ve been friends with them for a while now and they are a total blessing to know and they are always encouraging me and my friend Liz.
Other that are good:
Future of Forestry
The Red Airplanes
The Reel
Esterlynn
Oh yes!
I forgot about Esterlyn and Abandon [http://purevolume.com/abandontx just so that you don't get confused with another band called Abandon].
Both very good.
Shai Linne. His stuff is pretty rad.
Hi Brody, I actually noticed MYNH but the light bulb did not come up until you clarified the acronym and I have not yet inquired. Thanks!
Let’s see…I have most likely written or referred to these: the House, Scott Cunningham, Anadara, Lovelite,…
Justpassingthru
Dave Pettigrew
House Of Thomas
Bread Of Stone
Mission 5:16
Katy B. and Chelsea already listed most of the artists I like. You can’t go wrong with any of the Square Pegs (Derek, Sandra, Andrew P. and O.) and I LOVE Katy’s choices of Mae, Abandon, Future of Forestry and VOTA. I’ll just add Saosin, Above The Golden State, O.A.R., Remedy Drive and Run Kid Run. Oh, and thanks for recommending The Myriad, they are AWESOME!!
michael w. smith
stephen curtis chapman
mercy me
phil wickham
fee
chris tomlin
caedmon’s call
derek webb
bob carlisle
jaci valazquez (sp?)
stuff like that you’ve probably never heard of.
My 17yo son (Justin) says you should listen to Aloha and Pele (sounds like the soccer player.)
