Dactyl
It’s always a little awkward hoping on a bus where you don’t know people and basically saying, “So, I guess for the next couple months we live together, huh?”. It’s never quite as bad as I think it’s going to be but that apprehension is always there when I start a tour. And it was here tonight, for about ten minutes.
Because of the bus situations, it started out being just Bebo, his guitar player Gabe and I on the bus for the first four hours or so. I had met Bebo briefly in the past but never really talked to him and had never met Gabe. Within ten minutes or so, I think any awkwardness was buried beneath a string of nerdy computer talk, P.C. vs. Mac talk, and iPhone apps. After the iPhone app talk started a ‘game off’ ensued in which the three of us sat in silence, with our thumbs silently tapping our phones and an occasional shout of “dang it” or “I got 57 that time”.
The game is a game called Dactyl, where you simply tap on the bombs that turn red and keep doing that until you can’t anymore. If you miss one, it blows up and you lose. Pretty simple, but pretty addicting. I’m no good at it. In fact I never got more than around 250. Gabe on the other hand, sat quietly tapping away on his phone and then set his phone down on the table with a final score of 1,117. I was done after that.
That was the first part of the tour. Pretty exciting so far huh? I just realized it’s almost two in the morning and I’m officially on East Coast time now so it’s almost three. That should be fun in the morning.
Any game you are addicted to right now? Computer, phone or otherwise? Anything we can start another ‘game off’ with tomorrow?

Since the early 80′s I have been a fan of “Pole Position”. I downloaded it on my iPhone recently and it is very similar to the arcade play. Great sound effects and you use the phone like a steering wheel. Have a great time on tour son.
Try Fuzzle…..it’s insanely addicting. I think you have to purchase it now as it was a free app for a while. The lite version doesnt do it justice as you need more levels and rounds to really get into it.
Check it out…..I have to play at least three games before I can go to bed.
Brody,
I’m not sure if you can download a game called PEGGLE or not. But it’s very addicting. It’s by a company called CAPCOM games.
Gaby Baby is the Real Deal-and you will hear Bebo say it every night from stage. He’s a phenomenal musician and just one of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet. You’ll love being on the bus with him. And Bebo’s cool too. Tell Gabe “hi” from Ben and Crystal in Lincoln, NE and we’ll see him and BTLG…and you need to convince him to start blogging.
Brody – I’ve always been a fan of Twister on long road trips. Upper body strength is helpful. Some assembly required.
