Four Hundred Plus
So check this out. I noticed today that I have crossed the ‘four hundred followers’ mark on my Twitter. Now, I realize that several of these are companies following me in order to get me to follow them and buy Viagra or something, but four hundred is a pretty substantial number I think.
Now here’s the thing. I feel like I suck at Twitter, but I’m about to change that. I follow several folks that are really good at using Twitter and I aspire to be one of them. I think the thing that weirds me out about it is that I know that if I decide to Twitter something there is the chance that several people will be getting a text message from me…. saying something stupid… or pointless. That’s intimidating to me.
But no more. I’ve decided to try to get better at Twitter and not care about who might be sitting in a movie or in church or something like that. I’m going to type what I think and forget that I just might be interrupting your ‘alone time’ with your husband or wife with a stupid text message about something I saw on the way to Target. Sound good?
I imagine a lot of you are on Twitter already, but for those that aren’t, why not? What keeps you from it? And for those that are already on Twitter, are you following me?

I only get direct messages to my phone. Do most people get their messages via text? That would drive me crazy.
Hopefully this eases your mind, but I’d love to get more stupid and pointless text’s from you.
Yeah, I only go with Direct messages to my phone also. My phone would die if I had every message going to it.
I’m with Amy. I get DMs on the phone, I use an app for everything else!
I just Tweet. If people get annoyed they’ll stop following me. I’m ok with that.
I love the randomness of it and the people that I follow. Where else could I put my handlebar mustache experiments http://www.twitpic.com/6kcc or those, Why did I marry him again? moments from my wife while at Target.

Brody, your “ice cream/biggest loser” is still the best tweet yet. So I am looking forward to you topping that one.
I only have my phone set to get Direct Twitter messages. Aside from that, I just figure if someone didn’t want to hear about the random thoughts in my head they could just stop following me. I mean, I never put a gun to anyone’s head and said “Follow me or else.” Well, unless you count that one guy…
I for one cheer you on in your decision to become a better Twitterer. Tweet away.
I follow you Brody… but I don’t have anything set up going direct to my phone… I just check it online and enjoy posting randomness about my day all day long
I don’t use Twitter, nor do I plan to start. I blog, I follow blogs, I get to “know” people I’ve never met and may never meet. I have to draw the line somewhere, preserving time for myself, my work, and (more than these) my family and God. Were I to use twitter I would be constantly sending and checking and totally lose myself. I’m just obsessive/compulsive that way.
Seriously, to all you who tweet: how do you do it and keep your real (non-online) life from going to shambles?
I don’t think I care enough to be on twitter, no offense. Although I am sure if I started like euphrony i would cease to exist in my “real” life. But it is a super handy communication tool. And I am now curious about the silage news, though I think I might know what it is , but I could be way off. and now I am rambling…
I think this is the first time I’ve ever commented here, but I do actually follow you on twitter!
The pointless information, sometimes is the best stress reliever during the day. To see what everyone else is doing and being able to laugh at someone’s randomness is always welcomed.
I mean who really cares that I had a Pumpkin Spice Latte with my husband on our date night? But…I bet someone went and bought one after reading my twitter. Just another form of free advertising for things
@cjmills is a follower….wait, that didn’t come out right….
I do not follow anyone on twitter, but then again, I’ve only just joined the tech elite and got a cell a year ago! If I were to follow, would each twitter message count as a text message? I pay 20 cents a piece for those bad boys -coming or going – I couldn’t swing the bill!
Tweet to your heart’s content, Brody – I echo Luke’s sentiment . . .
Yes, I’ve been following you. Wow. That sounds creepy.
Anyway, I’m glad you’ll be twittering more.
