So, check this out.  I just found this site called Citizens Of Virtue, and you must go now and see what this is all about and come back here and let’s discuss.  First off, the main thing that jumps out at me is the Passionix ad at the top of the page.  The product info goes something like this.

Passionix: These pills were developed and patented through the Citizens of Virtue’s own labs. If you have a teenage child who is having difficulty handling the unbridled passions and lusts thrust upon them at this critical time of life, order a bottle of Passionix and help your child take control of those passions before they take control of your child’s life.

Oh yeah, and don’t forget the quote next to the informational brochure.

“Just because it fits doesn’t mean it goes there”

Simply brilliant.

Next you need to check out the store, where you can purchase items such as The LORD Shackle Bracelet, or The Rape of Eve, a book written by Pastor Bryson Grace and Savannah Merks.

Now according to the site something awesome is going to happen in two days and I know I will be waiting in line to see what it is.  Will you?

So here’s your assignment.  Are you ready?  Devour this site.  Look at every link, read every word and come here with your opinions.  I’d love to know.  Is this something your church would link to?  Is this something you can someone you know would get behind?  What’s the deal?

So there it is peeps.  Let’s hear what you have to say about the Citizens Of Virtue.  Ready?  Go.

I have a feeling you won’t get a book, a bracelet, or any PassioNix if you send them money. If you google their entire board of directors no names actually come up.

Maybe this sums it all up:

“Where you send your money—whether you spend it on terrorist-funding companies or donate it to a good Christian organization—makes it clear where you stand in the war on evil. What’s your vote?”

That being said, you should totally buy some PassioNix to keep on hand for when the boys get older…

“Gulch.” Excuse me. I just threw up in my mouth a little bit. Who? Why? What the? Huh? …in fetal position on floor. I’m all out of Passionix. Crap! Unbridled passions! Curses!

“This item is not available at this time. When the Lord makes it available to us, we will make it available to you.”

    Epic.

I’m considering calling the phone number on the top of the site, just for giggles.

It does seem a “little” over the top. It also looks like they are going to be at 3 events, one happened today, http://citizensofvirtue.com/Events.aspx.

Did anyone notice that some of the letters in the image above are gray? The gray letters spell HELP.

According to their website, Passionix contains “supramethylphenidate” as the unique chemical discovered and patented by their scientists. Methylphenidate is the active ingredient in such popular drugs as Ritalin® and other prescription drugs for treatment of ADHD. If they are really selling this online, without a prescription, then they are in big trouble. In fact, I’m notifying the FDA because of how suspicious this sounds.

A quick search of the US Patent and Trademark website finds no registered trademark for Passionix (the site uses the ™ symbol with Passionix, implying trademark protection) and I cannot find any specific patents for them (but I could have missed something there).

The page has, at the bottom right, a logo for “GalvoKlexam Pharmaceuticals”. A google search turned up nothing on this company.

Overall, I would label this as a scam. If any drugs are actually involved, then it is dangerous.

As to the rest of the site, well, by association, I find it abhorrent.

    Seriously? lol. I mean….really?!
    Pills to control lustful thoughts?

I seriously hope not many people believe what is on this website. I feel bad for their children.

    This quote got me, too:
“Worry is not a burden, it is a responsibility placed on good Christians by God.”

.. have they ever read Matthew 6:25-34? *shrugs* maybe they just skipped over it. Because God definitely tells us not to worry. lol. …just sayin’.

I googles “citizens of virtue” and there are a ton of hits. One site that shows up over and over is http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=26787

There are a bunch of people talking about it on that site.

I don’t even have to go to the site to know that these people whether wackos or not, they marketed well. They went for the “extreme offend people” tactic. It made you notice, right? Look how many of us commented and now they have blogs blogging about their blog. Genius!

P.S. This is a very weird site and I’m interested in what they are really selling.

    ok, here’s the get-go.

I’ve checked all the buy links – they’re all the same with what Dee Dee says.

@ euphrony – the key to supramethylphenidate is “supra.” In other words, an enhanced version of the ADHD drug. That’s a load of bull. It’d be like if I said “super-duper Asprin.” It’s a prophetic critique on the medicine industry as well as our job as parents to our kids.

I’ve also checked the dates. Save for retroactive testimonies, there is nothing before October 1st – the same date as Rob Bell’s new Jesus Wants to Save Christians. I’m guessing the site serves two purposes:
    (1) prophetic critic via satire
    (2) some puzzle to gain momentum on the web.

I think it’s not a site for merch, I think it’s to generate attention in a reverse-psych marketing technique to reveal a truer message at the end.

You can go to my site from here out. I’ll try to keep up with it.

also, brody, unique choice of words:

“you must go now and see what this is all about and come back here and let’s discuss”

    also

“So here’s your assignment. Are you ready? Devour this site. Look at every link, read every word and come here with your opinions.”

Seems pretty eager friend. But what do I know? I’m just some college student, right?

    ha.

truth is, i didn’t take either of them. the only drugs i take are anabolic steroids – they make my teeth shiny.

You guys see this http://citizensofvirtue.com/Events.aspx. Looks like they showed up at an event. Lancelot mentioned that on 10/1 Rob’s book came out so I checked out the book site and the second link on the left side says “HELP THE SEVEN” when I clicked that I get a page that is written in the same code as the book cover.

Also check out Facebook, there’s a Citizens of Virtue group and Savannah Merks has posted. Anyone in Sacramento or Atlanta this Friday?

Dude, this is scary if you think about it. I mean, I know it’s absolute fecal matter because of my personal experience with Christ, but what about those that don’t have that truth to measure this against? I also checked out the video on “Temperance.” Pure fecal matter as well.

Temperance has a hidden message… (and I don’t mean religious in nature :P ) Xander Greene’s communicated again.

I outlined this ARG in a post on my own blog. Looks like it’ll be going for a while… so puzzles, people, mysteries, hopefully some retribution against Citizens of Virtue, etc :)

see lancelot’s post above for other places to talk about and join in the game…

I was at Passion Vancouver, and that is where I first heard about Citizens of Virtue. They were handing out cards, and my friends and I had another couple hours before the concert started, so we collected all the cards, and played a game similar to Goldfish. One of my friends is in the video, and she had no idea how cult-like this stuff was. Oh well. It’s all bullcrap. :)

    Brody,
Dude! Quite the post. I’m not really sure who you are, but this is some amazing dialogue. Rob Bell and Mars Hill Bible Church (www.marshill.org) are behind this. Satire is a wonderful thing, don’t you think? Whatever you may think about COV, this guy is preaching something completely different from the more “traditional” Christianity. If you’ve ever been troubled with church, listen to what he has to say. He has several books, “Velvet Elvis” being a good one, that will challenge anyones faith. Be careful though, if you start listening to him or reading what he has to say, it might just change your life.
