I sat in line at an obscure gas station just outside of town last night for about an hour to only be able to put three and a half gallons of gas in my car. And that was after going to about ten other stations that we out of gas. I sat there with probably about forty other cars waiting to do the same thing.
What the heck?! We are getting closer and closer to Mad Max style living. It’s kind of exciting and kind of weird at the same time. There were people fighting and yelling at each other, there was honking, simple finger gestures all over twenty dollars worth of gas. Amazing to watch. I was waiting for some renegade in leather to pop up with a chainsaw and take someone’s arm off.
I for one, know that most of the stations around me are completely out of gas. They are saying that there will be some next week brought in, but they aren’t clear on what day that will be. What’s crazy about the whole thing is that it doesn’t seem like anyone is slowing down and conserving. What’s going to happen when the gas runs out and this entire area shuts down? I’m not one for looting but there’s a nice TV I have my eye on if things go that way. (*I’m kidding, don’t send me nasty mail*)
How’s the gas in your area? Anyone else out?

Nah, we aren’t out here in CA. But that is probably because Arnold is our Gov. and he would have to kill off some people if that happened. I mean look at the guy…doesn’t he scare you?
Nothing different here in Oregon. I haven’t seen it go up in price and haven’t heard of any stations low. But, I don’t think we are dependent on southern oil. I think we are more dependent on foreign oil in the Northwest.
I forgot to say, Oregon, unfortunately has adopted Ethanol into it’s gasoline systems. The hope is to help with cleaner burning gas. The trad off is, it’s more expensive at the pump, it burns faster so mileage sucks and it does some damage to vehicles. Sheesh, sounds good to me
Yep I think Brent is right on with Oregon’s gas.
“We are getting closer and closer to Mad Max style living.”
Cool! I have some face paint I’ve been dying to try out, and I really am up for welding pieces of metal and assorted stuff to my Jeep. Oh, and perhaps I’ll grow my mohawk back and file my teeth to points.
And can I please, please have the cool shotgun thingie, too?
Seriously, no gas issues here in San Antonio.
We are fine here in Auburn, CA. Infact, our prices have gone down considerably recently. Maybe $.50 a gallon. Still rediculous, but down just the same.
Mom
none here in dallas. just some gouging here and there, but it’s getting better.
sorry that nashville’s a bit of a cluster right now with the gas.
1 hr North of Fresno, CA and our gas is readily available and about $3.49/gal. If the people in dallas have gas, why not nashville? I think that’s a little weird.
We’ve been okay so far here in Gainseville, FL.
I know when Ike first hit our gas went up about 15 cents, but that was nothing compared to Tallahassee where it went up about a dollar.
But we’ve still got gas, last time I checked!
We’re good here too in Grand Forks, ND at $3.49/gal. We have 10% ethanol in some our fuel too. That’s in addition to the E85 you can purchase if you happen to have a flex-fuel vehicle. What bugs me is that 70 miles south in Fargo, gas is always .10 to .15 cents cheaper per gallon than here and we’re closer to the refinery! Go figure.

Charleston, SC seems to have plenty of gas around town. Some of the independent stations cover the pump handles every day or two because they don’t get deliveries as often as the name brand stations. We’re at about $3.85/gallon right now.
Of course, in Charleston, we are pretty close to the end of a continental pipeline I think. Which means it doesn’t travel far on the trucks to get to us.
If it does get Mad Max over there, try to get a ‘67 Camaro with a 350. It ain’t easy on gas but it can fly and take a real beating….
Or a ‘69. Easy to get parts too…
I’m in Nashville too. It’s out of control. I went to 10 stations and spent 45 minutes looking. I’ve seen the crazy people too….it’s pretty wild. The Nipper’s Corner area is out of control.
No shortage here. Just shortages of power after ike came through. Went 5 days with no power. I am glad to have it back.
Forgot to tell where I am, Pittsburgh.
That’s bizarre. Gas here is a few cents more, but there’s no shortage at all.
Wish I could email you some…
Ah geez, that’s no good. Sorry you guys have to deal with that. I’d tell you the situation in New York City, but truthfully, I have no idea what gas is like right now, since we don’t have cars. But I think when we moved here and had to return the moving truck, we filled it up at $10/ gallon. Crazy, huh? That’s in Manhattan. I’m sure most people who drive consistently in the city cross the bridge to Jersey to get gas.
Anyways…your post reminds me of when Seth and I evacuated Houston from Hurricane Rita. Every gas station along the way was out of gas…people sitting on their cars on the sides of the highway, hoods up, stranded. Gas stations had trash all over the ground. It was like the end of the world or something, so surreal. We found one gas station with gas and the guy right in front of us in line was filling up all these gas containers and putting them in his trunk. I’ve never felt such rage in my entire life. Mind you, everyone thought, at the time, that Hurricane Rita was gonna come through while we were on the road and wipe us all out or something. Ugh. The scene was straight out of the War of the Worlds movie, except we were all afraid of Rita, not…aliens…yeah.
Gas prices have actually dropped here in SoCal. It was up to over $4 a gallon for the cheap stuff. Now it’s down to $3.65.
No shortage in the Kansas City area.
I just thought I’d mention that we have plenty of gas in Vancouver but it’s $5.30 a gallon.

My hubs drives for a living…I pray that gas doesnt’ run out…although we spend nearly 800 a month on gas…yikes.
Things are better now, but there were gas problems for a bit. I almost couldn’t get gas for my wife’s car. At the station near my apt, they just have 87 gas which is cool by me, cause that’s all I use. I think it all started with some stupid email, but I guess it’s spread to other places as well… or maybe it’s Tallahassee’s fault.
Oh, yeah, I’m in the Southeast, Florida.
