We Are The World

My wife has always had an unexplained fascination with Lionel Richie.  I don’t know where it comes from, and I don’t even want to know.  I just know it’s there, and it comes up every once in a while when I feel like making fun of her.  But that has very little to do with the video posted above.  I just more wanted to make fun of her about it again.

No, the reason for the video posted above is strictly to teach Kristin the words of this freaking song.  All morning she has been singing different variations of the chorus and I can’t take it anymore.

“We are the World, we are the future, we are the children of a better place, just wait and see”

What?!  Seriously?!  Well, we just sat down and watched all seven minutes of it, and the lyrics are even typed out at the end.  That should help Kristin remember them.

Okay, let’s hear it, who watched all seven minutes and were reminded of when voices we original and iconic, Michael Jackson was black, and a song could be stuck in your head for weeks?

  1. Thanks Brody…..

you just wanted to diverge from the fact that I was making fun of you for singing a Kelley Clarkson song.

  2. I have the “we are the world” vinyl! Hasn’t been played for about 20 years!! hehe

  3. Lionel Richie is awesome. Listening to him always brings back lots of memories, like roadtrips with my family. We always had his tapes in our car!

Whoa……Lionel Richie!!! That brings back a middle school dance memory of me, my biggest crush ever, and a little “Say You, Say Me”!!!!!!

  5. At the time this song came out, I remember thinking, why are they trying to be like the church? Seriously.

Then I stopped thinking and went back to my rock roots, Ozzy, AC/DC, Van Halen. And I turned this off, cause it was gay.

    Jackson is black?

  6. It was a complete ripped off idea from what Bob Geldof was doing with Live Aid…………look it up on Wikipedia and read this fun fact

“John Denver, who had been actively campaigning against world hunger in the 1980s, had offered to participate in the recording, but was turned down.”

Why was he turned down? Like he wasn’t as cool as some of the people on the list of singers/artists/actors? haha

  7. LOL. I love Kristen’s version. :)

Okay, I admit it. I am an old softy, but that’s no secret. I love it.
I was singing and rocking and even a little teary.
It must have been so awesome for them, to have each other there. So much talent, all together….I know…..

  12. I love this video! I used to work in a video rental store and one of the videos I would play over and over while working was the making of this song! I would alternate that with Grease and The Little Mermaid!! Oh the days when jobs had no real responsibility!!!

  13. I was going to watch the whole thing… it was like a train wreck that I had to watch. But Colette said, “do we have to watch this?” She is prego so she gets her way.
