House Cleaning
It’s been a long time since I have done this, but I need to update my link list over there on the right. Yesterday I was clicking through a few of them and realized that some of them are out of date. They are clicking to blogs that have changed or are no longer updated. Also I have noticed several new people around here commenting who have blogs that I don’t link to.
Here’s the thing. In the spirit of community, I want to link to you if you link to me, so I am considering this post a house cleaning post. If you link to this blog, and I don’t link to you, let me know and I will remedy that. Also if you have changed your blog address to something other than what I link to, let me know.
And if you haven’t yet, make sure to check out some of those links on the right. There’s some pretty cool stuff over there.

Stats Suck Sunday – In Bullet Points
- Forth of July is over and I only have one burn on my arm and a few holes in my shirt.
- I played a Fee song, a Crowder song, and a Leeland song at church today.
- Fee songs, Crowder songs, and Leeland songs sound better when they play them.
- I saw Hancock yesterday. And I saw the second movie that started in the middle of Hancock and went a completely different direction.
- That last one made more sense in my head.
- Sometimes I wish I could be addicted to caffeine.
- Phil is getting married and that’s pretty cool.
- I’m a bad speller when it comes to words that sound the same but are spelled differently. (Forth/Fourth, Course/Corse, There/Their) I hate them because they make me look stupid.
- I’m officially in a fight with the English language
- Why does Bank Of America put a hold on a tax refund check “pending approval”? Seems like they’d let that one slide.
- I’m officially in a fight with Bank Of America.
So, this is Stats Suck Sunday. Welcome to it. This is the place to come with little expectation of anything for the day. This is also a place where you can link to the most random things you want. Wanted to blog about a picture of your goldfish? Today’s the day. I know most of this makes no sense but it doesn’t need to. Happy Sunday. What random things are you blogging today?
Once And Only Once
So check this out. My friend Kyle pointed out yesterday that over on the Crowder guys MySpace they have posted a few of the pictures that I took on the tour with them. Now, normally I wouldn’t condone clicking on any link that says the words “My” and “Space” together, but in this case I can make an exception.
It’s pretty cool to see the times that I decided to push a button on a camera have turned into something that they like and are using. They have about two-hundred photos so hopefully more pop up in the future.
There is also a little rumor floating around that several of the pics that I took will be featured in the DVD due out August 19th. Okay it’s not really a rumor. It’s true, and they said that they would send me some to check out. Maybe we can do a little giveaway thing on here like BooMama does.
So anyway. This time and this time only, head over to MySpace, log in several times, sign away your first born, be blasted with music starting, slowing down your browser, and crashing your computer, then check out some pictures I took.
Enjoy.
We’re Big In Iowa
So check this out. I got a call a while back from my friend Daley asking me if I cared if someone used our family picture for a website. He told me it was a church in Daveport, Iowa and they thought we looked like an awesome, hot, amazing, put together family. Okay, they left off the “awesome, hot, amazing, put together” part and said we looked like a “real” family. I’ll take it.
So last night I got this email from Daley saying “Check It”. So I did. Yep there’s us, right there on the front of the Rock Church Of The Quad Cities website. Kinda cool huh?
Anyone here live around there?
Link Loved
It’s the beginning of the month and that means that it’s time again for “Link Loved”. The time where were celebrate those that are sending the most people to our blogs. Now for all of you people out there that will inevitably say, “to me it’s not about traffic and I think this is a lame thing”, I say…. neat. Then don’t play. I think it’s cool to focus on something other than ourselves a few times a month and this is one of them. So for those of you that know how, figure out who your top five referring blogs are, that is the five blogs that sent you the most traffic this month and write a post explaining their blog to people and sending people their way. Make sense? We’ve done this once before and it seemed to work well, so here goes.
1: ThisIsKristin: I think Kristin’s blog will always be somewhere on my list but I think it’s cool that she is number one this month. We were just talking yesterday about how cool it is that blogging has become something else that we do “together”. By that I mean, here in this world it is simply an extension of who we already are. People know that we go together and it’s neat to be able to talk about geek stuff with my wife and have a fun connection that way. I’m sure most of you have already, but if not, make sure to go to Kristin’s blog. She’s always got something cool to say.
2: The Bloggess: This lady is funny. Ever since Kristin showed me this blog a few months back, I have followed it. It’s become something that we talk about probably more than any other blog in our real life. Not to mention I am very aware of my sentence spacing now. I think it’s funny that her blog keeps showing up in Christian circles and I’m sure deep down she really likes her new audience. Okay maybe she doesn’t but I think it’s fun to pretend she does. If you haven’t go there and laugh at things you never thought you would.
3: Visual Coma: Randy just moved out there two weeks ago and hasn’t stopped working on different things since he’s been here. Quite literally everything that I am able to do online is because of something Randy has figured out how to do. It’s been really cool working with him more and hopefully later this month we will be able to focus on some things even more. Randy’s blog is one of the most entertaining things I have seen if not for the spelling alone. We have been friends since we were in second grade and very little has changed since then. Check out Randy’s blog and hop in on some of the conversation there. It’s a pretty cool place.
4: Ragamuffin Soul: Carlos was number one last month, but hasn’t talked about me at all this month so he’s slipped to number four. See, that’s what you get Carlos. Ragamuffin Soul is one of those blogs that leaves me scratching my head thinking, “how does he have time to do all of that?”. Carlos has done some really cool things recently using time lapse video stuff, which I tried and screwed up and just got annoyed. There’s always something new and cool on his blog and even if it’s something that you have seen before the seven hundred comments that he gets makes it worth reading through. One of these days we’ll get Carlos to participate in some of the things going on here like Positive Post Tuesday or even Link Loved. And one of these days he will realize that I specifically call him out on purpose.
5: A Simple Journey: I haven’t seen Brian for a while because it seems like he has been out of the country more than he has been home for the past year. Brian is my next door neighbor and works for Compassion International helping artists communicate the mission behind Compassion to their audience. Because Brian travels so much his blog is always full of cool photos, travel stories and hotel tips. Brian and his wife are also in the process of adopting from Ethiopia, so it’s cool to watch that process unfold through his writing. I don’t know if I have ever met someone so dedicated to their job as Brian is and it’s awesome to read about everything that he is passionate about. Check out Brian’s blog and say hey.
So, that’ it. These are the five blogs that have sent me the most traffic this month. I think it’s amazing to see such a diverse group of people here in this community and I hope that you all go check their blogs out and get involved there. Now it’s your turn. What five blogs are creating your community?
Ready? Go.
Dinner With A Guy Who’s Name I Can Never Pronounce
Okay, so maybe it’s not his real name, but his blog name and what he goes by on his blog is something that I can never pronounce. When I say it the word “Euphrony” is always followed up with an “or whatever” because I truly feel like an idiot saying it. Luckily I didn’t have to tonight.
We met Euphrony (or whatever) and his wife and kids at the only place that we meet anyone when they come to town, Mellow Mushroom. It’s pizza, which is good for kids, it’s loud, which is good for kids, and it’s casual, which is good for parents of kids, and for people who have only met on a blog. This marks the third “blog meeting” that Kristin and I have had as a couple, and we are starting to think it’s awesome that we can meet so many of you.
Anyway, Euphrony (or whatever) was awesome to hang out with and talk about gas prices and hot hot Texas is. I hope they have a safe trip back to Houston this week. I know we have talked about this before but how many blog people have you met? Like 100% met up because of a blog? And remember, if you are ever in Nashville it’s pizza time with us.
Connersvine.com
We just launched the new Connersvine.com today and I think it’s one of the coolest that Randy has come up with. I just got off the phone with Chris and I interrupted his “Home Improvement” watching, and he told me to make sure all of you went over and said hi to him and Hunter. So here I am, officially telling you all to go harass Chris about spending his afternoon watching Home Improvement and not blogging.
Check out the new Connversvine.com and let us know what you think.
