So check this out. I got a call a while back from my friend Daley asking me if I cared if someone used our family picture for a website. He told me it was a church in Daveport, Iowa and they thought we looked like an awesome, hot, amazing, put together family. Okay, they left off the “awesome, hot, amazing, put together” part and said we looked like a “real” family. I’ll take it.
So last night I got this email from Daley saying “Check It”. So I did. Yep there’s us, right there on the front of the Rock Church Of The Quad Cities website. Kinda cool huh?
Anyone here live around there?

No offense to you all, but why didn’t they use a family in their church?
Amy, I’ve wondered the same thing. Our church does the same thing, with pics of people no one knows on the big ads and such. I have no clue why they do it that way (except maybe the real members are not real enough, or we’re too ugly).
In the church’s defense, with as much drama that church’s cause in everyday situations wouldn’t it make more sense to have a family that wasn’t connected to the church at all, rather than a family that was know as the “attractive” family, or the “high tithing” family, or the “minority family” or the “closest to the pastor” family?
What happens if that family in the church that becomes the “logo” has a messy divorce? Or leaves the church? Isn’t it easier to avoid that and get some weird family from Nashville?
Good points, Brody. As in all things church-related, your can’t do it without making someone mad.
(But they did make a might fine pick of families, there.)
See, I wouldn’t have thought of that. Good point Brody!
I am sure that they said that you guys are hot and awesome.
By the way David Crowder just posted (myspace) some pictures from their tour giving you the credit…. good work.
Random thought here…
So Brody…road trip to Iowa with Kristin and the kiddos. You and Kristin should dress yourselves and the kiddos up as you did in the photos and attend the church one morning.
It’d be a good litmus test for church leadership to see if church members go to the website. And it’d be plain interesting to see if anyone notices your family or makes a comment or snickers.
Great idea, Dale! Oh, and very cool, Brody, the face of the house of God.
that is one fine lookin family!
that looks awesome.
Yea I’m from the Rock Church and Brody nailed the exact reason we don’t use a family from the church, and yes the family we used looks amazing!! haha I really appreciate you letting us use it. It flows really well with who we are trying to reach.
