Today marks the beginning of something that is going to be pretty powerful for the next forty days.  The Forty Day Fast starts today with a post from Brant about the slums of Nairobi.  It’s a pretty powerful look at the understanding of Jesus from someone who lives there.

Make sure to bookmark Inspired To Action for the next forty days and check in.  There are also plenty of badges to put in your sidebar to help get the word out.

Anyone been to Nairobi?

I haven’t been yet, but my mom and my father-in-law have. I do intend to go when the time is right (esp. when my son gets a little bit older).

I lived in Nairobi ten years ago, before political freedom emerged and before there was a middle class that’s made the city as modern as it now is. Despite the incredible increase in prosperity, Brant wrote about a place where the poorest of the poor get left behind. I’m glad we have the fast to draw our attention to these places where God already is, suffering with those who suffer, and calling us to do our part in the work of redemption.

I haven’t been. But I loved reading about it. I can’t wait for the other 39 days.

I have never been to Nairobi. My sister is the world traveler. I’m more of a homebody.

Brant’s post really was powerful and moving.
