While I’m Gone
We are throwing together the last few things that we need for our trip and getting the “large” and “medium boys ready to stay with Kristin’s dad. I think we’ve got everything ready. We have our Death Cab album as a handful of others to accompany our drive. The car is cleaned out and full of very expensive gas, and I think even the tire pressure is okay.
So, while I am staring at the road for the next twelve or thirteen hours I thought I would steal something that I saw over at Without Wax the other day. Here’s how it works. I will start with a question and the forst person to answer it asks another question. That way we can all get to know each other. So, here goes.
If you could take a road trip anywhere where would you go?
Have a great day. Ready? Go.

The Grand Canyon. The farthest West I’ve ever been is L.A., but I flew there. So I really have not been west of Kentucky, and I really really want to see the Grand Canyon.

What are your thoughts on (3) major Christian-artists, losing one of their children in the last several weeks? I can’t quite comprehend it…
It shoes that just because we believe in Jesus and just because we pray to him every day…it doesn’t mean we are immune to the sting of death. It means that bad things happen to good people. And pain is something we must ALL experience.
What blog have you started reading now simply because of Brody’s blog?
I wasn’t aware that 3 artists have lost a child. I think it breaks our hearts, and it breaks God’s heart to see His children in pain. But death is a part of life, and now those little precious children are with Jesus. I’ll never fully understand God’s timing, but He does know what He’s doing. I can’t imagine the faith it takes to still get up and live your day to day life without one of your children. And I know God will be their strength and pull them through, while using the situation to reach others and show His ultimate Love for all of us! AND we should all continue to pray for the families!
Question-
What have you learned through the hardest trail of your life? (I couldn’t follow that question up with a question about shoes…)
Also, God knows exactly what it’s like to lose a child.
Great post Brody
Wonderful question Paloma:
The hardest trials in my life (so far) have all come about the same general time (so they seem like one big one, ya know). My father’s death (cancer), my divorce, and having kiddos with special needs. It has been almost three years now and I’m not gonna lie – in the beginning, I wasn’t sure I would still be here. But, God is so faithful and steadfast. He doesn’t give up! Even when I had no strength left to cling to Him, He scooped me up and cradled me in His strong arms – whispering in my ear, soothing me, loving me…being, just BEING. Throughout this time I have grown more in the Lord than I would have ever thought possible. He has completely released me from fear. I am so BOLD in Him and I love it! Most of all, He has truly shown me to have nothing before Him. No things, no people, no desires, no dreams – absolutely nothing comes before my great love, Jesus. All my needs, questions, sorrows, anger, joy, excitement… everything, I want to share or seek with Him first. Certainly, all is not picture perfect (as I am not either), but I can now see that He has really given me a tremendous gift in these trials. He has held me by the hand and let me look into the face of death. When I saw my imaciated father slipping away, I now realize I did not actually see the end. Still His hand clasped mine. When the dreams of my marriage shattered on the floor, I now realize I did not actually see a broken useless vase. Our fingers became one as I held Him tight. When special needs crept in like a thief to try and steal away my hopes for my kiddos, I now realize it did not beat us.
The harder I look, the deeper I peer, the clearer it becomes – I see Jesus and I am NOT letting go!

Worst song to ever get stuck in your head?
A: That dumb Hannah Montana song, “Best of Both Worlds” Uhhh I can’t stand Hannah Montana. Q: What is your most favorite song in the world?
I know, I already answered one… but I hate to have a great question like that go unanswered. Favorite song, in the world would have to be “Crazy” by Seal. It not only reminds me of the summer after my senior year in High School, but it was also my swan song at every nightclub I ever DJ’ed at and left (by my own accord.) It’s an amazing song, and it still grabs my heart. “We’re never going to survive, unless we get a little crazy.” Sounds a lot like Matthew 16:25 to me!
Let’s let this question live on…
What’s your favorite song, in the world ?
Oh man. This question is so hard. “Hallelujah” by Jeff Buckley comes to mind at the moment. If you ask me again in a few hours I’d probably have a different answer haha.
Q: What’s one thing you would like to try to do, but are a little scared or hesitant to attempt?
Mine never got answered…..

A1: One thing I am scared to try but really want to do is to audition for a play. Oh the fear of rejection!
A2: Up and coming artist: Warren Barfield – love him!
Q: What one place are you hoping to be able to travel to someday and why?
A: Switzerland, but open to anywhere else the Lord leads. Why Switzerland? The weather, language and people.
Q: What is your plan for the weekend?
A: Taking pictures for a wedding in Grand Rapids
Q: If you could be any animal what would it be?
I would be some form of wild cat. Probably a tiger. Something crazy but cool.
What is the craziest most adventurous thing you’ve ever done?
River rafting…Scared me terribly.
Something you’ve eaten, but hated the most?
To me, grits is the worst food ever (Sorry for all you southerners I just offended). But the texture and temperature of grits are so close to that of vomit that I can’t handle it.
Question: What would you be doing with your life if money were not an issue?
