Ha I love that it’s the good ol’ VHS pic instead of a DVD or digital download or somethin’.
There’s no way I could pick only five. Maybe five in every single category/genre ever… maybe. And yes, that includes musicals and classics, too. I admit it.
Music and movies - I love ‘em.
5. Hoosiers (I’m from Indiana and appreciate this movie more than most I’m sure outside of the state of Indiana)
4. Fox and The Hound(as a kid I loved this movie because it was sad, funny, and Copper had a cool voice as a young pup)
3. Tommy Boy(I don’t care how many times Chris Farley walks into the window, it’s just as funny EVERY time. Or when he destroys the buscuit at the diner)
2. Freedom Writers(I feel like Hilary Swank in my life sometimes…as soon as I watched this movie it was immediately elevated to number two)
1. Man On Fire(some will think I’m crazy, but i love this movie. The intensity, the loyalty, the acting…are all amazing)
And dang, I love Shawshank, The Gladiator, and Braveheart. SOOO many choices. I can’t believe I picked the five I did. However, I stick by my picks. Don’t judge me. [=
1. Hoosier’s (Kyle - I’m not from Indiana, but I still get misty-eyed at the end)
2. Ocean’s 11 (so witty)
3. Return of the Jedi (first movie I saw in the theater)
4. Raiders of the Lost Ark (first “real” movie I ever watched - on my grandparents VCR sometime in the early 80’s)
5. Zoolander (I could’ve substituted 10 different funny movies here - it’s like a 10-way tie with Zoolander representing “funny” movies)
1)Dances With Wolves, extended 236 mins. director’s cut version exactly tells story from excellent book by Michael Blake.
2)Gladiator
3)Braveheart
4)Empire Strikes Back
5)Raiders of the Lost Ark
Love Harrison Ford’s Han Solo and Indiana Jones. 2 of my favorite characters of all-time.
It is hard to pick a top 5…I could add so many more…Aladdin, The Patriot, Star Wars, Zoolander, Tommy Boy…I could go on and on…Ocean’s 11-13, Friendly Persuasion (old, classic I used to watch with my grandma)…what about for kids, I could go with Jonah or many other VeggieTales flicks.
If you ask me this again tomorrow (or even in 10 minutes) it will probably be a different list, but these are some of favorites:
-You’ve Got Mail
-Little Miss Sunshine
-Dead Poets Society
-Pride and Prejudice (old version is good as far as following the book exactly, and the new one is just beautiful)
-Beauty and the Beast (my favorite childhood movie…at the age of 3 I had the entire thing memorized))
JulieMay, 1 20088:41 am
Tommy Boy, Sense and Sensibility, Spanglish, The Philadelphia Story(Hepburn, Grant and Stewart), Driving Miss Daisy, Shawshank Redemption, Beautiful Girls…Did you say top seven?
1. Snatch (awesome soundtrack too)
2. The Royal Tenenbaums (love Wes Anderson’s style)
3. Momento (messes with your mind… good ending)
4. Stranger than Fiction (loved the art direct. and intern. dialogue)
5. Juno (and no, I’m not jumping on the bandwagon… love that kid from Arrested Development)
I wish I could think of 5 off the top of my head. But I am a little ADD when it comes to movies, and have a rough time sitting through an entire one. In any case, here are 4 that kept my attention.
Sneakers
Rain Man
Lorenzo’s Oil
Bruce Almighty
