Last night I was a seat filler and got to go for free, I didn't even want to go but friends talked me into it. I bought a ticket last year and it did suck mostly because the performances weren't that creative and there was a lot of dead time. I went alone and had a really hard time staying awake after a very long week. Brickell said to me at the after party that he thought it was by far the best Dove Award ceremony in 10+ years. As far as the politics of the industry and whatever...I just try not to take it too seriously. I'm sure some people do have wrong attitudes about it but I think there are a ton of people who are hugely talented that are shocked they are recognized...like Natalie Grant. Phil's performance was amazing. That song always blows me away but he took it to the next level. Hope Kristin can enjoy it with you next year! I completely agree with your review on the doves. He had a pretty fun recap of the evening too. In fact, he attempted to "blog live" from his iPhone, but it ran out of juice a half an hour in. haha Anyhow, sounds like a crazy but awesome night.
