A Listening I Will Go

The kind folks over at Provident wanted me to have some new music.  They asked me for my address and asked if I wanted it.  I said “sure”, because I love to have new music.  New music that, maybe, I haven’t already heard, and music that, maybe, you haven’t heard.  I gave them my address, because I trust that they aren’t creepy people, and today in the mail came some new music.

In the nice bubble wrapped envelope was three CD’s.  They really are new music, because they all have release dates that haven’t happened yet.  The first one I cracked open and imported into my iTunes is Warren Barfield’s “Worth Fighting For” (5/20/08).  Then I imported, Matt Maher’s “Empty And Beautiful” (4/8/08) and finally Tenth Avenue North’s “Over and Underneath” (5/20/08)  All seem like pretty solid choices… I mean, the artwork is cool and stuff.

I haven’t listened to any of them yet, but they are imported and ready to go.  I have to go to L.A. early in the morning so I will have a day of flying to listen to them and let you know what I think.  Anyone else heard of these guys?  What do you think.  After I get a listen I will let you know.

  1. i know i already like a couple of songs off 10th avenue north…i had never heard of them either, but stumbled on their website.

    enjoy.

    and fly safe.

  2. I LOVE Tenth Avenue North!!!
They do the praise and worship every year for Campus Crusade at Christmas Conference, and this year they were kind enough to come do it for our Fall Getaway here at UF.
They’re really awesome guys, have an awesome heart for the Lord and their music is also GREAT. Especially live.

Their song “God With Us” is one of my favorite worship songs ever. It’s amazing. Check it out.

Tenth Avenue North is amazing! I’ve been a fan for years. I’ve heard a couple of songs from their new album on their myspace and I’m really jazzed to hear the rest when it comes out. They’ve got a real heart for ministry, their lyrics are rock solid, and their live show is always a worshipful experience.

  4. Warren has had a small spattering of radio airply over the last few years. Nothing solid has anchored or been a huge hit.

Matt Maher is probably best known for his worship song “Your Grace Is Enough” which Tomlin covered on Arriving. His version of the song is his first radio single.

DOn’t know much about Tenth Avenue North. They came to Tulsa on a radio tour a few weeks back and I didn’t get a chance to meet them when they dropped by Spirit 102.3 (the station I work for).

    Hope that helps…

  5. Brody Tenth Avenue North is from here and I have been blessed by their music for the last three years or so. Jason Jamison is the drummer and I have had the opportunity to get to know him a little. Great guys, solid music, a blast to see live.

We had the absolute blessing of hosting Warren at our little church here in Merced, CA last March and I cannot say enough about what his music did for us here or about the genuine person he is. His second disc is always in our home rotation. I heard from someone in the know that he wrote a song about his experience with us in Merced so I can’t wait to hear your review and the songs. GO BUY HIS ALBUMS! – Steph

  7. Tenth Ave North is a local band from here in so fla. I have worked with the guys before at a local youth conference – Good guys -great tunes. Enjoy!

  8. Brody, I’m a big fan of Warren Barfield and plan to pick up that album. He came to my church a couple of years ago and I was hooked, particularly by “Pictures of The Past”. I also recommend “My Heart Goes Out”, “Mistaken”, “Grace” and “Saved”. Great voice and singer-songwriter style.
