holding-hands.jpgKristin and I have been “through the fire” the past few weeks. We’ve struggled more with life than we ever have and we both feel drained and beat up. We’ve needed to be with each other more than ever and spent the least amount of time together. We’ve been busy and going separate directions and tonight we are hanging out. No Target date tonight. A real live, quiet dinner with a waiter and drinks and everything.

It’s not like we are going to Paris or anything but for us it’s something we need tonight. I think we are just going to head to the city, find a Cheesecake Factory and then walk around. Find some cool shops to look at, and connect as a married couple. Refresh and maybe even hold hands. And I am excited about it. I’m excited about connecting with my wife again, and forgetting about the stresses of life for a few hours.

What’s the best date you’ve had?

We’ve been living overseas for around 15 months now and have had only one date night. We used to in the states but here…well, there’s not much to go see or go do. So for Valentines this year I lined up childcare, called another good couple friend of ours and we hit the town….well one restaurant near the ancient city. It was nice to be without kids, at a great local restaurant, and we had adult conversation…it was a good night.

No particular favorite, but anytime we can be together and NOT talk about the “everyday” is OK by me.

Best date…hmm…this was with a former flame, but I’ll always remember it.

Hiking up to his favorite “thinking spot” on a mountain and getting into a deep conversation. Then traipsing around town and ending up at a random golf course, hopping the fence and running around as the rain started to pour. We laid head-by-head (kind of like in “The Notebook”) and were just quiet for a while as the rain hit our faces, and eventually delved into some topic of conversation. Then a rain drop hit me dead in the center of my eye and I said something like, “Ah! My contact!” And we burst into laughter. That pretty much captures the way things went with us. I can look back on the good memories and smile. =)

Hope you guys enjoyed your date night, Brody.

Hi Brody, it is always great to go back to basics—just the two of you together…similarly with our quiet time with the Lord. I am proud of you two and pray He will truly continue to lead you and Kristin to fall more in love with one another as you do with Him.

Oh, and I sure hope you held hands…and enjoyed the moment with just the two of you.

Best date? I love my “dates” with the Lord especially surrounded with His creation (nature), say the park for instance. Additionally, “love” and I went to P.F. Chang’s and had a blast just talking…and it was as if no one else was around but just the two of us (and we did not fill guilty at all because we thanked God for such a time as those for they are precious moments)…and boy, we never fail to fill the rooms with laughter and even tears of joy, from above I might add because it was all thanks to God!:-)

I’ve never had much of a real “date” but I’ve had many times of wonderful hanging out and connecting. Anyway, a year after my ex-boyfriend and I became “official” we went back to the place where it happened- a local park. It was really late at night, and very dark out, but I think it was a clear night. We walked around this little path through the woods taking the same route we had a year before. We stopped on this little bridge and watched the water flow coolly over the random rocks and tree roots. We continued on to a bench along the path and sat down and just hugged like we had that very first day. Then, just in time to break a romantic mood, 2 teenage boys come streaking by us, holding their clothes in their hands! Haha! Good thing it was dark, eh? Anyway, as that was a little uncomfortable and we didn’t really care to see them again, we walked back the way we came to a playground where we played. We road the springy-dinosaur and swung on the swings, and then standing up, he took my hand and then using my full name asked me if I would enter into courtship with him. (I said yes, of course). And I think that might be my fondest “date”.

I don’t know if this really counts as a date, but being on my honeymoon with my wife was awesome. We got to spend a whole week together just the two of us alone. Loved it.

Last night we had a good date, good food, nice drive, good music..definitely good food.. yumm…

My favorite dates with you have been taking walks at night. When we used to walk around the town at 2 am, or walk down the train tracks and through the tunnels, climbing the train bridge, and along the river. Good memories.
